Mercury And Jupiter – Taking Time Out

In Lunar Stories by Lynda Hill

Ha! I hope those who need to take some time out can do just that – at least this is happening on the weekend. We have the solar activity going on, which has been quite draining for many – although I’m hearing that others feel jazzed up and energized – I guess it will reflect how you’ve been traveling lately… right now, though we have both Sea Captains that are ‘retired’ going on. In the entire 360, there are only two ‘retired sea captains’ and we have Mercury and Jupiter on¬†them both… It feels to me like the calm before the storm in some measure… Check it out –

Mercury is on Libra 17: A RETIRED SEA CAPTAIN WATCHES SHIPS ENTERING AND LEAVING THE HARBOR

Retired Sea CaptainThis Symbol speaks of the necessity in life of finding time for quiet recollection. You may feel that the stormy, unpredictable emotional life is something you can, or need to, leave behind – to opt out. But like the sea captain, there will always be the frustration in the desire to return and get back in amongst life. An objective and calm understanding of life’s experiences is available to you, but know when to rest and when to be active and to work as merely looking out at the world from a confined perspective and feeling like you have no choice but to sit and watch is unlikely to bring the world to you.
Memories and peaceful contemplation. Writing memoirs. Being a spectator rather than a participant. Disconnection from the past. Nostalgia. Safe ports or harbors. Retiring.
The Caution: Copping-out, escaping from reality. Relying on past experiences. Refusing to join in. Staring at lost opportunities and times gone by. Frustration. Boredom.

Jupiter is on Leo 13: AN OLD SEA CAPTAIN ROCKING ON THE PORCH OF HIS COTTAGE

This Symbol shows the need for times of quiet reflection, to look back at past experiences, especially those times that may have seemed threatening or exhausting in some way. Take some time for a little solitude and contemplate the overall picture of your life. You may want to take time out to read, to go over past memories, indeed to write your memoirs. When back into the business of life you will be refreshed and have a better idea of how you fit in and what you want to achieve. Having said that, this Symbol can sometimes indicate wanting to retire and withdraw from life too much so that it interferes with the ability to make a living or feel like contributing to society.

Retreating to one’s inner self and reflecting. Quiet confidence in conquering life’s storms and come out wiser. Observing life from afar. Rocking chairs, cottages and verandahs.

The Caution: Ignoring what is possible now in favor of memories. Inability to get going. Being lazy and immobile. Being a lounge-lizard. Wanting others to look after you.
