How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon? Dr. Seuss

So many gods, so many creeds, So many paths that wind and wind, While just the art of being kind is all the sad world needs. Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Ah! Well away! Seasons flower and fade. Lord Alfred Tennyson

May’s Scorpio full Moon occurs on May 7.  This full Moon feels a little better than the previous few month’s lunations – although we are bound to still be having some serious things to contend with, and, many will be standing up against things that they feel are unfair, untrue or unworthy, we will, I think generally be feeling somewhat better. This is a rather Mercurial, Neptunian and Venusian energy, which will be somewhat of a relief. Saturn and Pluto are still calling the shots, that’s for sure, but, we are being asked to be more creative, and, to see through the illusions that we, and, others, have placed on us.

This is also a time of retrogrades. As we go into May, we are feeling the effects of the retrogrades beginning to take hold. In May, we’ll have Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter retrograde. Most importantly, though, is Venus going retrograde around the 13th May. This is a major retrograde. It happens every two years, and, it can (and usually does) have a major effect on us. This particular Venus retrograde is particularly interesting as it is squared by Neptune. Where are we not seeing what’s really going on? Where are we perhaps deluding ourselves (or others)? What relationship or money issues really need sorting out in your life? Are you giving way more than you are receiving? Finding yourself to be the family, or societal, scapegoat?

The message of Venus this month is one of not accepting those things that no longer feel good to you, those things, attitudes, relationships, people, events, etc, that bring you down. Venus is going retrograde in Gemini, and, Gemini is THE sign with the most ‘going on strike’ Sabian Symbols. Venus will traverse them all, and, go direct after forty days (and, forty nights) around the 25th June. Here are the Sabian Symbols that Venus will traverse. The last one still counts as Venus goes direct just short of it…

Gemini has these ‘striking’ degrees, and, Venus retrograde is going to illuminate all of them, even THE RADICAL MAGAZINE – Venus is going to touch on it, but, will turn direct just before going back onto that degree. I would still count it, though, as it will be in high focus from Venus…

So, we have Gemini 5: A RADICAL MAGAZINE OR PUBLICATION, ASKING FOR ACTION, DISPLAYS A SENSATIONAL FRONT PAGE

Gemini 8: AROUSED STRIKERS SURROUND A FACTORY

Gemini 12: A BLACK SLAVE–GIRL DEMANDS HER RIGHTS OF HER MISTRESS

Gemini 16: A WOMAN ACTIVIST ON A PLATFORM GIVING AN EMOTIONAL SPEECH DRAMATIZING HER CAUSE

Gemini 21: A TUMULTUOUS LABOR DEMONSTRATION…

So, of course, Venus has gone prograde over these degrees, and, will be on A TUMULTUOUS LABOR DEMONSTRATION right before and after Venus going retrograde. So, we will, no doubt, see people protesting a LOT… however, it will not be confined to political or societal protests. A lot of relationships are likely to break up as a result of the virus and the quarantine. I’m hearing that a lot of divorces and separations are happening as a result.

The nodes have also recently changed signs. We’ve gone from Cancer/Capricorn (home issues, big business, politics, etc) to Gemini/Sagittarius (information, knowledge, snippets of truth/fiction, seeing the big picture, overseas travel, etc). It’s interesting to note that the Moon’s north node is on Gemini 30: A PARADE OF BATHING BEAUTIES BEFORE LARGE BEACH CROWDS – and, many people (not all, of course!) want to open up the beaches.

So much going on. I hope that everyone is safe and well and feeling OK about it all. And, staying connected. Very strange times that we’re in!

The Sabian Symbol for this full Moon is Scorpio 18: A QUIET PATH THROUGH WOODS BRILLIANT IN AUTUMN COLORING – This is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom

Commentary: ‘A Quiet Path Through Woods Brilliant in Autumn Coloring’. The ‘Quiet Path’ is the ‘Path’ that one should (or perhaps must) take, in order to finish something or accomplish some mission. The ‘Autumn’ leaves are a symbol of change – the energy of the recent growth is returned to the earth in preparation for the next growing season. There is a feeling of transition as the leaves decay into the vegetation. Quiet walks can reconnect one with nature.

Oracle: In the situation facing you, fruitful success is now behind you. It is the dramatic preparation for change that has resulted from the fruits of your labor that surrounds you now. It is now either on (or just after) harvest time and everything is changing. Take a deep breath and infuse yourself with nature’s gifts. This Symbol can also represent the opportunity to consider and reflect on the success of your recent activities. If there hasn’t been enough success or productivity there is nothing more that can be done for the time being as the “season for harvest” has now finished. Winter is coming and with it the need to recuperate and restore energy. It is time to let the past go and prepare for making new plans. Whether your “harvest” has been successful or not, there will be many lessons and benefits from what has occurred. This Symbol is about the opportunity and maybe even the need to take time to quietly appreciate this shift of energy.

Keywords: Rewards of plenty. Transformations through the different seasons of one’s life. Overcoming battles and disappointments. Finding peace. Layers of personality issues flaking off with maturity. Gardens, sometimes off the beaten track. Taking time out to reflect on nature. The feeling of change in the air. Mature and elegant responses. Rich colors. Memories and memoirs. Taking life one day at a time. Overcoming loss through positive attitudes. Warm responses. A calm knowingness. Reverence and respect. Having a “been there, done that” attitude.

The Caution: Being too late for the harvest. Concentrating on the past. Being oblivious to nature’s beauty. Resisting the flow of the seasons. Feeling that winter is upon you with no way out. Issues of growing old. Being alone in one’s “autumn years”.

The Karmic Condition (the previous degree) of this full Moon is Scorpio 17: A WOMAN, FILLED WITH HER OWN SPIRIT, IS THE FATHER OF HER OWN CHILD

The consuming desire of most human beings is deliberately to plant their whole life in the hands of some other person. Quentin Crisp

This shows the ability, or the need, to be totally self-sufficient and responsible for one’s life. Often, there’s the issue of single parenthood, or the sense of having to raise yourself without too much input from others, or, coming from a broken family where someone had to take on the role of both mother and father. It can show someone that doesn’t require assistance for even the most complicated tasks, or you feel you can’t ask; perhaps there’s no one to ask or you feel that others couldn’t do anything as well as you. We are all blessed with individual qualities and it is the combination with other individuals that creates greater balance and depth. The Immaculate Conception. Doing everything. Realistic or unrealistic independence. Single parenthood. Adoption. Facing the world feeling whole. Single living. Spiritual experiences.

The Caution: Uncompromising feminism or chauvinism. Feeling like one has to be responsible for everything. Unrealistic independence. Being left alone and abandoned. Having no one to turn to for support. Being an adult before one’s time.

The Quest Degree (the degree following) of this full Moon is Scorpio 19: A PARROT LISTENING AND THEN TALKING, REPEATS A CONVERSATION HE HAS OVERHEARD

This Symbol infers some level of spiritual channelling or the hearing and passing on of messages. Birds symbolize spiritual forces and “Parrots” symbolize the ability to be able to give voice to messages. This Symbol indicates that someone who is receptive to thoughts and ideas can process information to the point where it becomes their own, although they may really be a channel or a translator rather than an originator of these messages or realizations. Perhaps there is a need integrate new understandings into your consciousness, to make a belief system or a code of living truly your own with your own stamp of individuality on it. Transmitting information or knowledge. Recorded messages. Answering and fax machines. Translating languages or words of wisdom. Talking heads. Talk back radio.

The Caution: Rote responses that are ill considered. “Towing the party line” without having any opinion of your own. Going over the same territory. Losing true meaning through repetition. Repeating without knowing the real meaning or purpose. Meaningless banter. Tunnel vision. Gossiping. Missing the essence of what’s being said. Not having a mind of one’s own. Brainwashing. Re-runs of the same old line. Broken records.

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at this full Moon is Taurus 18: A WOMAN AIRING AN OLD BAG THROUGH A SUNNY WINDOW TO GIVE IT AIR AND SUNSHINE

A safe but sometimes chilly way of recalling the past is to force open a crammed drawer. If you are searching for anything in particular, you don’t find it, but something falls out at the back that is often more interesting. James Matthew Barrie

No country has washed more dirty laundry in public than we have. Shirley Temple Black

Cleanliness is next to impossible. Saying

This Symbol speaks of clearing up clutter, washing and purifying and bringing air and light to situations. It often symbolizes psychotherapy and other self-help disciplines that cleanse and purify the mind, emotions and soul. There is often the need to clean out your cupboards, along with your old habits and routines. By keeping everything in your inner self, you can cause a clutter that is restricting. Bring these things to the outer world and see if they are still relevant in the light of day, discarding those that don’t measure up. Scrubbing clean and airing out. Psychoanalysis. Past life regressions or memories. Renewal. Throwing out the old, outworn or outlived. Renovations. Letting sunshine in.

The Caution: Expecting others to take responsibility for cleaning up and airing out. Hanging on to outworn things and memories. Airing one’s ‘dirty laundry’ in public. Rehashing old situations. Going over the same ground over and over. Bringing up issues when it’s inappropriate. Depressed attitudes.

The Sabian Symbol for Mercury is Taurus 21: A MOVING FINGER POINTS TO SIGNIFICANT PASSAGES IN A BOOK

The telephone book is full of facts, but it doesn’t contain a single idea. Mortimer Adler

The skilled theologian can wrest from any scripture that which will serve his purpose. Bhagavad Gita

We sometimes get all the information, but we refuse to get the message. Cullen Hightower

I hate quotations. Ralph Waldo Emerson

This Symbol points to going by the book and taking things as rules to be lived or taking things literally. You may feel that you know all about life, or that you need to learn all about it. You could feel as though you have read the book on life. There are, however, finer details that you may have missed and you may need to look again. There is a clear indication that you could look for something outside of yourself for clues on how to live or how to be. However, be discriminating about what is really significant. Find the essential details of a situation and disregard the rest. Looking for clues. Reading significant pieces of writing. Instruction manuals. Lawyers and the law. Oracles and synchronicities. Reading passages that reflect life. Memories.

The Caution: Doing things because they need to be done and only going by the rules of the book. Automated responses. Religious fundamentalism. Only doing those things that are officially sanctioned. Not observing the entire picture. Keeping tallies. Flaunting the rules.

The Sabian Symbol for Venus is Gemini 22: DANCING COUPLES CROWD THE BARN IN A HARVEST FESTIVAL

The one thing that can solve most of our problems is dancing. James Brown

This Symbol shows the need to regularly celebrate life and its bounty and harvest. When the work’s been done, achievements have been made and there is a sense of security and ‘Harvest’ in the air, it is time to celebrate with one another. Gathering people together, there is a need to get back to a simple, conservative level of enjoyment. There’s a sense of being in tune with seasonal rhythms and taking some time out to enjoy and de-stress. The feeling of a healthy heart and a healthy mind, while taking a break from the struggles of providing, can bring joy to everyone. See if you can take time out to celebrate and to enjoy your relationships, friends and environment. Celebrating the warmth and providence of the Earth. The joy of nature’s harvest. Joining others to celebrate. Rhythmical or seasonal adjustments. Dancing. Barns and dance halls.

The Caution: Being the wallflower and not participating. Waiting for a special invitation rather than responding to the possibilities available. Resentment. Isolation. Going alone. False displays of community. Shallowness. Attention paid to only those who are important.

The Karmic Condition for Venus is Gemini 21: A TUMULTUOUS LABOR DEMONSTRATION

A riot is the language of the unheard. Martin Luther King Jr

We are all in this together, by ourselves. Lily Tomlin

In union there is strength. Aesop

This Symbol shows a need to periodically stand up when things aren’t going well or when there’s a feeling of being taken advantage of. There are probably many others who are involved in or sympathetic to your situation. However, there may be a feeling of being alone and powerless, so it is important to find out what level of support you have. It seems there are injustices that need righting and a spontaneous group reaction may be what has to be done to wake up those in charge. Be wary that your emotions don’t take the better of you and that you don’t get into the habit of going off the rails in order to get what you want. Pushing for change to the status quo. Feeling hard done by or taken advantage of. Seeking a better share of the profits. Protest about having too much to do. Tantrums.

The Caution: Using the group to accomplish a personal agenda. Asking for more than one’s share, or not being able to ask for one’s share. Protests that can lead to riots. Resisting change. Feeling that one’s vote or voice doesn’t count. Emotions that get completely out of hand. Refusing to cooperate or to be productive. Brutality and violence.

The Sabian Symbol for Mars is Aquarius 27: AN ANCIENT POTTERY BOWL FILLED WITH FRESH VIOLETS – this is the degree of the Sun each year on Valentines Day.

Big doesn’t necessarily mean better. Sunflowers aren’t better than violets. Edna Ferber

Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it. Mark Twain

This Symbol shows the need to spread beauty and grace and purity of motive and feelings of contentment. The simpler, more natural responses to problems and society often bring us a sense of refreshment and realignment with what is beautiful. Complications are more easily solved if a fresh and simple approach is taken, rather than the more complicated, intellectual or highly charged emotional responses. Like a bowl of flowers, this Symbol implies that by keeping your life pure and unclouded by bad news, negative emotions or thoughts, and maintaining a sense of hope and faith, you can not only be healthier, but bring joy to others. Returning to ancient sources. Flower and herbal remedies. Beauty. Setting standards for society. The mortar and pestle. Dainty, small and lacy things. Pottery bowls. Fresh water.

The Caution: Lack of subtlety. Insensitivity. Being dried up and withered from lack of water or emotion. Stagnant water. Being shy and unresponsive. “Shrinking violets”. Neglecting the small things. Being so accommodating that one’s needs are neglected or trodden on.

The Sabian Symbol for Jupiter is  Capricorn 28: A LARGE AVIARY – Jupiter is stationary and about to turn retrograde on this degree. It speaks about the internet, about lots of voices vying to be heard, confusion and misinformation can result. I see this degree as largely being about social media, Twitter and Facebook, etc. It’s also the news… all those voices saying different things.

You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building nests in your hair. Chinese proverb

This Symbol shows being able to take in a lot of information, to be social, yet have some time alone. The “Large Aviary” has a lot of citizens, all buzzing around, all interacting and full of life. There is a lot of chattering and flitting from one thing to another going on and while there is no harm being done, perhaps, sometimes, there’s nothing much really being achieved. Is this because there is a level of mental confusion happening? At the least there is likely to be a feeling of brotherhood and not being alone, in fact, finding time alone can be difficult. Clair audience. Many inner voices. Lots to say – little content. Communicating only in the immediate environment. The Internet. Bird songs. Confined spaces. Psychic. The media.

The Caution: The Caution: Forcing your ideas or feelings even though the time is not right. Lack of support from the environment. Missing connections. Running out of energy. Having the right thing in the wrong place. Ideas without the capital to make them reality. A lack of impetus or propulsion. Feeling stuck, unmoving. Traffic jams. Empty tanks.of discernment. Too much chatter with not much being achieved. False sense of freedom. Chattering more than doing. Finding it hard to find peace, harmony or privacy. Lonely existences. Abandoned living spaces. Dependence on external sources of nourishment or other provisions.

The Sabian Symbol for Saturn is Aquarius 2: AN UNEXPECTED THUNDERSTORM

Times of general calamity and confusion create great minds. The purest ore is produced from the hottest furnace, and the brightest thunderbolt is elicited from the darkest storms. Charles Caleb Colton

This Symbol shows the need to withstand “Storms” and things that whip up unexpectedly. It can show sudden flashes of inspiration, intuition or clairvoyance – those aha! moments. It can be thoughts and emotions that erupt from out of nowhere. They can be brilliant or unstable (or both). You will likely find that you are suddenly tested or taken by surprise. Inner strength and stability are put to the test but you learn a lot from your experiences. The effect can be quite liberating, although there can be an initial shock. Thunderstorms clear the air after an extreme buildup of energy. There can be a sense of awe and wonder at the power of natural events. Sudden visitations of natural wonder. Breakthrough moments. A break in tension in the atmosphere. Thunder, lightning and electricity. The Tower card. Being a lightning rod.

The Caution: Losing control without warning. Emotional instability. A “back draft” of emotions. Bottling up and blowing up. Confused by sudden outbursts. Loud bangs and crashes that shock and stun. Seizing up with fear. Sudden unleashing of emotions. Hurricanes of messy energy.

The Sabian Symbol for Uranus is Taurus 8: A SLEIGH WITHOUT SNOW

I don’t have any solution but I certainly admire the problem. Ashleigh Brilliant

Not only is there no God, but try finding a plumber on Sunday. Woody Allen

This Symbol implies having the vehicle, but not the fuel, the gas or energy to get the vehicle going or make use of what’s available. It speaks about seasonal variations where things available some times are not available at others. You may have to make the most of situations without much help. Are you expending energy trying to make things work in difficult conditions? You can often fuel things by tapping into your imagination. What adjustments or improvisations can be made? You may sometimes need to wait until the time is right, to have the ‘fuel’ to complete your mission. Independence from outer circumstances. Anticipating future conditions. Having no money or resources to move forward. Filling up your tank. The value of timing.

The Caution: Forcing your ideas or feelings even though the time is not right. Lack of support from the environment. Missing connections. Running out of energy. Having the right thing in the wrong place. Ideas without the capital to make them reality. A lack of impetus or propulsion. Feeling stuck, unmoving. Traffic jams. Empty tanks.

The Sabian Symbol for Neptune is Pisces 21: A LITTLE WHITE LAMB, A CHILD AND A CHINESE SERVANT

The moment the slave resolves that he will no longer be a slave, his fetters fall. He frees himself and shows the way to others. Freedom and slavery are mental states. Gandhi

In the master there is a servant, in the servant a master. Marcus Tullius Cicero

This shows being able to provide care, safety and comfort to those who need it. The “Child” has a “Servant”; he is well looked after. He also has a “Little White Lamb”, an animal companion, one he can be with, hug and enjoy. In our early years it was the sense of touch that was initially satisfied. If you felt cradled and comfortable, you could grow knowing that all was safe and well. You could find yourself in a place of privilege; cradled from those things that could hurt or challenge you, having someone to look after you. Conversely, you could be the one who’s always there for others, supporting and loving them regardless of who they are or where they’re from. Being protected by higher, more aware, energies. Privileges of money and social status. Helpers, servants. Care. Being watched over and watching over others. Children.

The Caution: Social incompatibility. Purity merely by nature of wealth. Not having to grow up because of the social environment. Not taking responsibility for one’s self. Acting like a brat and getting away with it.

The Sabian Symbol for Pluto is Capricorn 25: AN ORIENTAL RUG DEALER IN A STORE FILLED WITH PRECIOUS ORNAMENTAL RUGS

Junk is the ideal product. . . the ultimate merchandise. No sales talk necessary. The client will crawl through a sewer and beg to buy. William S. Burroughs

There are very honest people who do not think that they have had a bargain unless they have cheated a merchant. Anatole France

Ettore Forti 1880-1920 Tutt’Art@

This Symbol speaks of knowing how to appraise the worth of things, to be able to buy and sell and market products for sale. Taking pride in the products of your culture, and the buying and selling of useful and beautiful things is a responsible position, and the claims made about the products have to be tried and true. There may be a feeling of needing to reassess your attitudes and ideals, particularly if there’s the desire to get the better of others. You may feel the need to work with the physical and mental practices of oriental traditions that are available. Refinement of cultural understanding and values. Bargains. Bartering. Selling and trading. Charging a fair price. The sales pitch. Products of the east. Stalls. Markets.

The Caution: Bargaining only to personal advantage. Giving undue significance to unworthy goods. The archetypal “car salesman”. Talking to others merely to gain advantage. Not appreciating the value of one’s goods.

The Sabian Symbol for Chiron is Aries 8: A WOMAN’S HAT WITH STREAMERS BLOWN BY THE EAST WIND

If the winds of fortune are temporarily blowing against you, remember that you can harness them and make them carry you toward your definite purpose through the use of your imagination. Napolean Hill

Allow traditional wisdom to lead you to new and different solutions, but be wary of acting superficially. In deeper, spiritual messages you are afforded protection from the more disturbing elements of situations. Shifts of mind and attitude may happen as a result, indeed, they may need to happen. You may need to adjust continually to outside forces, but you have the ability to be adaptable, so hang onto your center and what anchors you and try not to get blown off-course. Attuning oneself through eastern philosophies. Protective guidance. Balloons and hot air ballooning. The winds of time and change. Being aware of shifts in the wind.

The Caution: Only accepting solutions that satisfy selfish or social needs. Insincere and easily blown around. Fickleness. Being tossed around by momentary patterns in the “weather”. Conflicting ideals. Forgetting things in a moment. Being easily distracted. Changing course midstream. Being blown off the path, thereby losing ones center or way. Breezes that disturb ones equilibrium. Losing yourself in other’s opinions.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon’s north node is Gemini 30: A PARADE OF BATHING BEAUTIES BEFORE LARGE BEACH CROWDS

I’m tired of all this nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. That’s deep enough. What do you want—an adorable pancreas? Jean Kerr

This Symbol shows how society appreciates and acknowledges beauty and glamour. It is often important to put on your best face and apparel and to present your self with confidence. Be aware that some are getting a lot of attention and there is a potential audience. There may be a feeling of only being appreciated for one’s superficial attributes and values without appreciation of the deeper layers of one’s persona. Displays of beauty and physical fitness can bring joy and wonder, or jealousy and derision, so you may need to be careful of what’s being revealed and who it is revealed to. Making superficial judgments. Being on show. Sheer attraction of beauty appreciated. Seeking praise. Bathing costumes and skimpy clothing. The mystery of glamour.

The Caution: Using superficialities to win support. Giving importance to the issues of appearance. Neglecting the “beauty within”. Too much makeup. Flaunting one’s body. Not employing intellect. Leering, jeering. Lusting after the unattainable. Feeling like merchandise. Making superficial judgments.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon’s south node is Sagittarius 30: THE POPE BLESSING THE FAITHFUL

What I’m looking for is a blessing that’s not in disguise. Kitty O’Neill Collins

You must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing. Andrew Jackson

This Symbol shows being present, on-board and ‘there’ for people when they need it. The “Pope” instills hope and a sense of wonder; he is said to be a representative of God on earth. Blessings come from worshipping a higher power with people of like mind. This shows that people will dispense rewards upon those who are eager to receive from them. This often shows a spokesperson that will be heard by everyone. Show respect and reverence to others, as this will lead to rewards of their own. This can show someone having a powerful memory; they remember the faces and names of people and often have a powerful presence and charisma. Rituals. Someone high up acknowledging and rewarding. Rewards of loyalty. Bonuses. The source of enormous inner riches. Power and its responsibility. Seeking absolution.

The Caution: Overwhelming political or spiritual rituals. Lust for power. Negating, projecting and transferring one’s shadow onto others. Not taking responsibility for one’s actions. Begging people to dispense favors. Sucking up to be accepted or recognized. Manipulating for desired ends. Nervous reaction to power or position. Demanding obedience. Lording it over people. Leaving people out that don’t measure up or conform. Having people at one’s beck and call.
