If I had 8 hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend 6 sharpening my axe. Abraham Lincoln

Chop your own wood and it will warm you twice. Thoreau

From a fallen tree, all make kindling. Spanish proverb

Some men go through a forest and see no firewood. English proverb

Write without pay until somebody offers to pay you. If nobody offers within three years, sawing wood is what you were intended for. Mark Twain

August’s full Moon occurs on August 20 in Australia and August 19 in the U.S. I realise that I often say that the full Moons that we’ve been having are doozies, but this one is beyond the pale – it is enormous with two big and powerful t-squares – one with the Sun and the Moon and Uranus in an exact t-square, and the other with Saturn/Venus/Mars/Jupiter all extremely  tight. What a challenging time for relationships of all kinds, and, also, very importantly, this powerful full Moon fueled by Uranus occurs exactly on the Jupiter/Saturn square.

In terms of Saturn/Venus/Mars and Jupiter being in a tight t-square, I see the main theme as being one of the necessity of having provisions, being nourished, being able to afford or procure food, supplies or what you need in general. Further, the actual Symbol of the full Moon shows the need to feel that one is prepared for the future with one’s wants and needs provided for, having one’s stock or store of food or energy in order to feel safe and secure. The Sabian Symbol for this full Moon is Aquarius 28: A TREE FELLED AND SAWED TO ENSURE A SUPPLY OF WOOD FOR THE WINTER, which speaks of having what one needs, especially being covered for those times of lack. Of course, this doesn’t have to imply that one has stores of wood by the side of one’s house, apartment or dwelling. It’s more that it implies that one has, or, needs to consider having, enough ‘fuel’ to support what you need. This can indicate issues such as electricity, gas, water, fuel, firewood, having a place to live, etc. This Symbol brings to mind the idea of ‘prepping’.

The Moon’s south node also speaks of having, or feeling the need for, a blazing fireplace to warm a ‘deserted home’. Perhaps lighting a fire (or a candle) to bring love and warmth and love into the home is a good idea?

With Uranus so strongly aspected, and remembering that Uranus rules this Aquarian full Moon, there’s no doubt the feeling of needing to throw out nonessentials – those things that you really don’t need that are just cluttering up your space. This can not only imply actual possessions, but it can also show the need to clear out the clutter of people, places and memories. Some things (or people or memories) need to be jettisoned entirely – they are no longer rewarding to your life or useful). Having said that, with the ‘supply for the winter’, there will no doubt be things that you may feel that you should hang on to ‘just in case you need them’.

Of course, we know how that often goes as we can hang onto things for months, decades even, thinking that one day they’d come in handy. Finding that balance without cluttering up your space and cramping your style can be tricky, but, with Uranus around, you may feel like throwing a lot more than usual out. And you may never think of them again.

“There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen” – Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (it is attributed to Lenin, however I have no idea if he actually said it).  This period could be like that for many, or one could find it’s a bit more like watching paint dry – all that Saturn, all that Jupiter and yet all that Uranus. It depends on your personal circumstances.

The message of Uranus (which is about to go stationary retrograde) is one of renewal, of lost hope for love and life even when it looked like all hope was lost. The Sabian Symbol of Uranus is Taurus 28: A WOMAN IN MIDDLE LIFE STANDS IN RAPT SUDDEN REALIZATION OF FORGOTTEN CHARMS, IN UNEXPECTED RECOVERY OF ROMANCE.  So, this person finds themselves, no matter their age or gender, in a sudden realization of unexpected romance. As always with the Symbols, this can be literal – we might find new love that wakes us up, or, we might find something in our lives that awakens us to new possibilities, whether it’s a new interest, a new place to live, new friends, etc. It’s generally a revival of love and hope and interest in life. As this is Uranus, the actual situation is not exactly clear – some may be swearing off being involved romantically with anything or anyone although as Uranus is going retrograde on this Symbol, it may just be a matter of time before the love or interest comes flooding back. Uranus is on this degree from around August 7 to the end of September.

Sometimes, with this kind of energy as well, there can be a relinquishing of everything in the past, throwing it all out and finding those things, people, places, etc, that bring fresh new energy into our lives. One thing is very likely and that’s that we can do well to accept the ending of a time or a period in our lives in order to invite in the often unfamiliar and more exciting.

With the enormous t-square of Saturn/Venus/Mars/Jupiter, there can be realisations and resolutions of no return: We’re often completely done with previous life conditions and there’s no going back. All of those things that may have meant so much to us are now redundant or just a part of our past. We may be surprised, with all of these Saturn and Uranus energies, with just how cut off, cold or distant we may feel. Perhaps it was a long time coming.

The message of the Jupiter/Saturn square is Jupiter on Gemini 18: TWO CHINESE MEN SPEAKING CHINESE IN A WESTERN CROWD and Saturn on Pisces 18: IN A HUGE TENT A FAMOUS REVIVALIST CONDUCTS HIS MEETING WITH A SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE. So, amongst the obvious racial divides that are being experienced in many places around the world, there’s the need to find those that ‘speak the same language as you’. And then there’s the need to be discerning about who and what we listen to as there are, as usual but very highlighted at the moment, snake-oil salesmen that would have us believe anything. And we’ve no doubt been fooled before and perhaps now are not so willing to listen to those that just want to manipulate us and lead us astray. Discernment is called for, along with the usual counting to ten in order not to overreact. After all, all of these energies at play now can be quite unpredictable.

Along with all of that, we are in a very retrograde period with Mercury, Saturn, Neptune, Chiron, Pluto, and soon, Uranus, all retrograde. This adds to the feeling of wanting to sort out what from the past we want to keep and what we want to throw overboard.

For some unknown to me reason, I feel to share a video from YouTube. It’s Australia’s John Farnham singing Help (a Beatles song). It is so stunning and extraordinary and I sense that many will be stunned by his voice, his performance, his presence. With the planetary energies going on this week, some may feel boxed in and not able to move even as so much presses to make changes. Perhaps this will lift your energies… the lyric ‘now I find I’ve changed my mind and opened up the doors’ feels very much like the message of Chiron at the moment (see my interp at the bottom of this post). Watch John click here. It’s astounding.

Of course, there’s more to say about all of this – there always is!

The Sabian Symbol for August’s full Moon is Aquarius 28: A TREE FELLED AND SAWED TO ENSURE A SUPPLY OF WOOD FOR THE WINTER. The following is my interpretation from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees of Wisdom:-

Commentary: ‘A Tree Felled and Sawed to Ensure a Supply of Wood For the Winter’ represents the sacrifice of one thing for the benefit of another. This Symbol pictures the shifting and changing values we place on our environment and the tools we use. A ‘Tree’ begins as a fragile life that may need our attention, care, concern and, in time, our gratitude. It develops into something that provides us with beauty and shade and is a haven for many birds and animals. In time, whether the ‘Tree’ completes its growing cycle and dies or is cut down in its prime; it still has much to offer. The energy that has been stored in the timber can be used to fuel our need for warmth and comfort in hard times.

Oracle: This Symbol shows there is energy stored in everything and that many things we may think are of no real value can be helpful on an entirely different level. ‘The Tree Felled and Sawed’ by being used as fuel, or made into paper, is released to rejoin the universal flow in many useful ways and forms. There are many things that grow around us during life. Sometimes there can be other uses that are of greater benefit than just to let things stand like monuments or memories. You may feel a need to sacrifice something old to find its current usefulness. There’s a need for putting in time and effort to ensure comfort, security and hope for the future. Gather your resources when you can, don’t wait for the last minute when supply might not be so readily available, or harder to put your hands on. Ensuring that things are in order for the ‘Winter’ can allow you, and yours, to be sure of warmth and love during more difficult times.

Keywords: Gathering resources. Being prepared for harder times. Stocking up and stockpiling. Log cabins. Open fires. Care and reverence for things of wood and the earth. The making of paper. The publishing of books. Renewable resources. Xmas trees. Axes and tools. Stores and provisions. Logging. Timber. Wood for burning. Oil, petrol, fuel of all kinds. Woodchips. Storage.

The Caution: Hoarding supplies—not wanting anyone to get them. Destroying the old for modern advances. Feeling cut off at the knees. Being chopped down and stacked away somewhere. Fearing that there won’t be enough fuel, money, etc. for harder times. Nonrenewable resources. Wanton destruction and logging of the forests. Waste.

The Karmic Condition of this full Moon is Aquarius 27: AN ANCIENT POTTERY BOWL FILLED WITH FRESH VIOLETS. It’s interesting to note that each year on Valentine’s Day, this is the Sabian Symbol of the Sun.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to spread beauty and grace and purity of motive and feelings of contentment. The simpler, more natural responses to problems and society often bring us a sense of refreshment and realignment with what is beautiful. Complications are more easily solved if a fresh and simple approach is taken, rather than the more complicated, intellectual or highly charged emotional responses. This Symbol implies that by keeping your life pure and unclouded by bad news, negative emotions or thoughts, and maintaining a sense of hope and faith, you can not only be happier and healthier, but bring joy to others.

Keywords: Returning to ancient sources. Flower and herbal remedies. Beauty. Setting standards for society. Slowing down the tempo to get to the purity of something. Watering the garden. The mortar and pestle. Homoeopathy and pharmacopoeia. Stains and dyes. Flowers. African violets. Dainty, small and lacy things. Antiques and curios. Beautiful reminders of yesterday. Valentine’s Day flowers, roses. Things that remind you of your grandmother. The old supporting and nourishing the new.

The Caution: Lack of subtlety. Insensitivity. Being dried up and withered from lack of water or emotion. Stagnant water. Being shy and unresponsive. “Shrinking violets”. Neglecting the small things. Being so accommodating that one’s needs are neglected or trodden on.

The Quest Degree of this full Moon is Aquarius 29: A BUTTERFLY EMERGING FROM A CHRYSALIS

This Symbol shows the ability, or the necessity, of growing, expanding, escaping restrictions and evolving into a more expansive sense of self with bigger and better potentials. At times in your life, often crossroads or major turning points, you are likely to be able to realize many of your latent, but promising, potentials. Like an awakening, you are suddenly able to do something that truly reflects you and who you strive to be. This emergence builds for some time – a metamorphosis takes place. Ensure that you take a moment to adjust to new developments before taking flight.

Keywords: Slow building of confidence. Coming out into a fuller participation in the bigger picture. Growing up and out. Emerging from the dark. Leaving yesterday behind. Becoming more and more beautiful. Finding one’s feet or wings. Metamorphosis. Huge changes in the works. Giving up struggling. The drama of new life unfolding.

The Caution: Failing to allow changes to be experienced. Feeling like one will never “arrive”. Struggling to emerge ahead of time. Feeling confined. Being tied to the past. Rushing leading to disorientation or injury.

The Sabian Symbol of the Sun is Leo 28: MANY LITTLE BIRDS ON THE LIMB OF A LARGE TREE. This is also the Sabian Symbol of the asteroid Vesta.

This Symbol shows many people and many voices around and a gathering together with those of like mind, although sometimes you’re forced to be with people who don’t share the same mindset or goals. There seem to be so many possibilities or ways to go in your life. Although the overall situation is secure and stable there will still be some confusions to be resolved. You may be vulnerable to lots of chatter going on in your mind, or having too many thoughts or people, their voices or their needs to consider. Try to relax and gain some perspective until things become more settled as not all that you see or hear is going to be worth thinking about or pursuing.

Keywords: Gathering with people of like mind. Sharing ideas. Huge structures where people can get lost in the crowd. Big business, government and bureaucracy. Multilevel marketing. Databases. The Internet and chat groups. Books, tapes and CDs. Publishing houses. Competition. Telephone switchboards. Trying to gain attention.

The Caution: Many voices—some heard, some not. Being confused or immobilized by too much advice or information. Too many sounds. Having trouble hearing the essential truth. A scattering of energies. Not getting a word in edgeways. Everybody talking and nobody listening. Being one of many. Noise and distraction. Staying with the mediocre. The masses. Being invisible. Useless chattering or noise.

The Quest Degree of the Sun is Leo 29: A MERMAID HAS CLIMBED TO THE ROCKY SHORE OF A BLEAK COAST, SHE AWAITS THE PRINCE WHO WILL BRING HER IMMORTALITY

'The Mermaid' by Howard PyleThis Symbol shows the desire to find a partner or a place in the world where you feel you belong and you contribute. Finding a place to ‘come ashore’ in life, establish a career and a life that feels worthwhile can take some time. You will be able to make sense of your intuitive or creative thoughts as you grow and find both your feet and your voice. In finally being able to verbalize things into rational expression, you will be creating things from your intuitive wisdom. However, there needs to be a caution against expecting others to verify your existence through your relationship with them. Being self reliant whilst inviting others into your life is the balance here.
Keywords: Coming into conscious form. New ways of being. Transformation. New forms emerging out of the past. Needing, and probably expecting, recognition. Feeling different from the crowd. Learning to stand on your own two feet. Problems with feet and legs. Longing to make an impression.

The Caution: Focusing on social or rational aspects before being ready. Naivety. Being thrown in the deep end. Relying on relationships too much. Looking to the other for validation of one’s existence. Co-dependent behavior.

The Sabian Symbol of Mercury is Leo 27: DAYBREAK – THE LUMINESCENCE OF DAWN IN THE EASTERN SKY

This Symbol implies the gradual feeling that darkness is dispersing and that a new day is right on the horizon. Often in your life, you may feel there is a chance for new beginnings. Things along the way have been sacrificed and there may be a certain emptiness, but you will see the light of day and move forward again. This Symbol speaks of transition times of letting go of operating in the dark and moving into a new day with new plans and fresh solutions. New ideas, new opportunities, new perspectives and new realizations are emerging. Getting up at dawn and watching the Sun rise can be a wonderful meditation for this degree.

Keywords: Gradual realization of opportunities. New cycles beginning. Feeling that one can leave the past behind, finally. Transitions between darkness and light. Meditation and yoga. Scenes of awe and amazement. Things slowly being revealed. Dawning awareness. Light from the east. Awakening. Looking to the future. Luminescent light.

The Caution: Being fearful and distrusting new experiences or situations. Thinking that everything will be O.K. “tomorrow” (i.e. not today). Closing things down when they should be opening up. Feeling like one’s asleep and can’t wake up. Staying in bed and missing out on new opportunities. Not moving on when it’s necessary.

The Sabian Symbol of Venus is Virgo 19: A SWIMMING RACE

You may find yourself in competition over emotional issues or working your way through shared emotions and hoping to win, or to come out on top. It is through training and practice and the controlled use of your emotions that success can be achieved. It is this experience that you must call on now. Work hard at achieving the win for rewards in the larger picture (club, school, country) or for winning the race leaving purely personal gains behind may be the answer.

Keywords: Looking sideways to see how others are coping with the strain of competition. Competing with one’s emotions. Capitalism. The striving for first place or greatness. Swimming, sports, competition. Wanting to be first at everything. Learning how fit one is. Concentrating on the goal. Medals and awards. Training and practice. Showing your abilities in front of others.

The Caution: Allowing the competitive spirit to dominate emotional sensitivity. Always going for “the win”. Trying to outdo each other. Being on the go all the time. Bad sportsmanship. Not knowing how to lose. Wanting always to conquer others. Always seeing others as competitors.

The Sabian Symbol of Mars is Gemini 20: A CAFETERIA WITH AN ABUNDANCE OF CHOICES

This Symbol shows the wide range of nourishment, opportunity and the ability to have things in our modern world. There are so many choices but each choice has its price, so be careful what you choose. Each will nourish you, but some things are far more nourishing and sustaining than others. However, there is so much on display and available that if you don’t like your first choice you can get something else – that is if you can afford it. Take what you need, enjoy it and realize the abundance that’s happening in your life. Make sure that what you get is good quality as many things are not.

Keywords: Overwhelming alternatives in modern society. Satiation. Everything provided for. Self-service. Issues of indulgence and one’s needs satisfied. Salivating over what’s on display. The incredible number of “choices” in a technological society. Too many choices (food, lovers, jobs, opportunities) – so little time. Instant gratification. Takeaway food. Buffet-style meals. Obesity. Chef’s surprises. The need to be discerning. Mechanized systems that don’t require much thought.

The Caution: Taking everything you can simply because it is available, regardless of needs. The inability to make life’s decisions. Things so near, yet so far. The inability to satisfy no matter how much one has. Feeling that one has to eat because it’s there. Indulgence beyond reason. Indigestion. Waste. Obsession with food. Using up people one by one.

The Sabian Symbol of Jupiter is Gemini 18: TWO CHINESE MEN SPEAKING CHINESE IN A WESTERN CROWD

This Symbol implies being able to find someone to communicate with, even when you’re in what might feel like alien territory. You may feel that you are often surrounded by people who don’t understand you or even suspect your ways of doing things or your motives. Finding someone of like mind or feeling will help you feel more comfortable and secure. Thinking and speaking in your native tongue or a language that reflects your thoughts and beliefs will bring greater ease and comfort. Sharing mutual thoughts can help transcend feelings of alienation and can lead to new understanding.

Keywords: Finding those of like mind. Leaving the “western crowd” behind. People having a specialized language that doesn’t communicate with the larger population. Exclusivity in communication. Interpreting or misinterpreting tones of voice. People being drawn to each other. “Chinese whispers”.

The Caution: Reluctance to adapt. Being with people who don’t share the same philosophies or understandings. No one to communicate with on the same level. Stories that get out of control. Depending on others to mirror one’s self. Being in alien territory. Schizophrenia. Hearing voices. Racism.

The Sabian Symbol of  retrograde Saturn is Pisces 18: IN A HUGE TENT A FAMOUS REVIVALIST CONDUCTS HIS MEETING WITH A SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCE

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to either hear or deliver important messages, decrees or rules for living, to make sense of the various details of spiritual instruction, to be able to see who’s an authority worth listening to and who’s a charlatan. Seeing through false intentions or messages can be one of your talents. You may find that a need to organize and stage a display of the things you want to promote, teach or disseminate. This can bring a feeling of community togetherness in a common goal. This can, however, picture situations of hysteria or overstating one’s case. There needs to be a feeling of moderation and the ability to listen as well as speak. With the power to influence or sway groups of people, there needs to be care and moderation. Is the audience listening? Is the cause just?

Keywords: Energy and inspiration. Evangelism. Whipped up emotions. Having a lot to say. Being instructional and dogmatic about how things should be. Being in charge. Ecstasy. Loud voices. Conversations that are said out loud. Acoustics affecting sounds. Preaching. Mind control. Performing. Political, religious and spiritual activism. Showmanship. Transformative experiences. Captivated audiences. The media circus.

The Caution: Using spiritualism for greedy financial gain. Overblown feelings of one’s abilities. Big egos. Hysteria. People whipped-up and manipulated by those in charge. Having the agenda of controlling others. Feeling that one has all the answers. Getting het-up about ideals and beliefs. Manipulation and exploitation. Bigotry.

The Sabian Symbol of stationary and about to be retrograde Uranus is Taurus 28: A WOMAN IN MIDDLE LIFE STANDS IN RAPT SUDDEN REALIZATION OF FORGOTTEN CHARMS, IN UNEXPECTED RECOVERY OF ROMANCE

This is a wonderful Symbol of second chances of romance, love, passion and starting over in life. Even when it feels like all chance of wonderful things have passed by, something comes back into your life and it can be inspiring, delicious and revivifying. However, it’s best not to be swept off your feet and misguided by overreaction. Nor is it a good idea to just take whatever you can get, thinking nothing better will ever come along. Analyzing your options in a mature fashion, you’ll have a deep understanding of what is possible and you can choose to be involved for the right reasons.

Keywords: Finding a renewal of love, knowledge, and interest when it looked like all opportunities had passed. Second chances. Starting over. Menopause. Romance renewed. Awakening to life’s promises. Flowering of love, life and joy. Sudden realizations.

The Caution: Believing love and romance long gone. Denying emotional expression because of social expectation. Losing heart and feeling unloved. Having no time for romance due to responsibilities. Being skeptical of love, thinking it not possible or realistic. Resenting the aged finding love. Fickleness.

Neptune is retrograde on Pisces 30: A MAJESTIC ROCK FORMATION RESEMBLING A FACE IS IDEALIZED BY A BOY WHO TAKES IT AS HIS IDEAL OF GREATNESS, AND AS HE GROWS UP, BEGINS TO LOOK LIKE IT.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to envision or decide what you want to be and as you grow and develop, becoming that vision. The “Boy” of this Symbol lived in childhood under a hill figure of an esteemed person and when he grew up he wanted to become like that himself. At times in your life, you may find that you are growing into the image that you have imagined and it gives you a sense of pride – assuming you have chosen a positive image. What or who do you “Idealize”? What is it that you’d like to become? What image would you like to project? Meditating on a goal or the projection of an ideal can lead to actuality. Just be clear about what you really desire in the situation – you just might get it.

Keywords: Concrete manifestation of one’s ideals. Enduring truths. Culmination of efforts. Projections of ideal images. Wanting to be “big” and successful. Tutankhamen’s mask. Wanting a sense of immortality. Defining one’s fate through conscious manifestation. Morphing reality to suit an objective. Ambition. The ability to see life in inanimate objects.

The Caution: Not being at all clear about who one is or what one can be. Becoming a screen for the projection of other’s ideals. Stony faces that show the hardships of life. Hardening of one’s personality. Ideals set in stone. Idealizing others therefore losing one’s own identity.

Pluto is retrograde on Aquarius 1: AN OLD ADOBE MISSION IN CALIFORNIA

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to have a place that’s safe and comfortable to live, work, pray and practice our spiritual lives. The “Old Adobe Missions in California” were built with a great deal of effort, sacrifice, commitment, and a sense of community with one eye on the path and the other on the very real, everyday needs of the people it serves. Sometimes we assume our beliefs are right and that others need to be shown the truth. Efforts should be turned to creating infrastructures to pursue these beliefs. Relating is not about control, but acceptance and reverence of each person’s divinity. There should be no pretensions, but a forging of links to new worlds.

Keywords: Spiritual retreats in natural surroundings. Finding new areas to work with spirit. Creating civilization out of natural elements. Hard work to create places of sanctuary and learning. Places once revered now tourist attractions. Missions and missionaries. Bringing faith to the “new world”. Brotherhoods. Places that house and protect. The homeless. Soup kitchens.

The Caution: Dogmatism. Pushing beliefs and ideas on others. Believing one’s spiritual and religious beliefs contain all the answers. Taking over others’ lives. Moving in and taking control. Monuments to the past sagging and fading. People moving in on others. Cults. Indoctrination.

The Sabian Symbol of the Moon’s north node is Aries 8: A WOMAN’S HAT WITH STREAMERS BLOWN BY THE EAST WIND

Allow traditional wisdom to lead you to new and different solutions, but be wary of acting superficially. In deeper, spiritual messages you are afforded protection from the more disturbing elements of situations. You may need to adjust continually to outside forces, but you have the ability to be adaptable, so hang onto your center and what anchors you and try not to get blown off-course.

Keywords: Attuning oneself through Eastern philosophies. Protective guidance. Balloons and hot-air ballooning. Compasses. Weather vanes and wind chimes. East meets west. Being adaptable to the moment. The winds of time and change. Shifts in the ‘Wind’ bringing shifts in attitude or direction. Hats, scarves, streamers.

The Caution: Only accepting solutions that satisfy selfish or social needs. Insincere and easily blown around. Fickleness. Being tossed around by momentary patterns in the “weather”. Conflicting ideals. Forgetting things in a moment. Being easily distracted. Changing course midstream. Being blown off the path, thereby losing ones center or way. Breezes that disturb ones equilibrium. Losing yourself in other’s opinions.

The Moon’s south node is Libra 8: A BLAZING FIREPLACE IN A DESERTED HOME

This Symbol implies the ability, or the necessity, to provide warmth and reassurance in times of emptiness, loss or desertion. At times during your life you will need to remember that even in times of real loneliness, when you feel separated from your ‘center’, there is a constant, unseen, sustaining energy always ready to welcome you home: whether it be the fire of your own spiritual center, the warmth and familiarity of family and kin, or a knowing that one is sustained by humanity at large. You may need this reassurance yourself or you may be the one to help others in their hour of need.

Keywords: Security and comfort left behind. A fire left blazing inside to reassure. Wood for burning. Gas, electricity connections. Holiday homes, or homes that are rarely visited. Homes filled with love, if not people or possessions. The warmth of the heart. Holding a candle for someone who’s gone. Fertility issues. Heart and hearth. Fireplaces. The place to which one returns.

The Caution: A sense of isolation, separation, abandonment, and bitterness. Sabotage by, or of, loved ones and family. Being forced out of the home, possibly for social reasons. Desertion and decay of love. Never being at home because of work concerns and commitments. Separation. Divorce. Latch-key children. Feeling alone and out in the cold. The light being on, but no one at home. Lack of domestic supplies.

The Sabian Symbol of retrograde Chiron is Aries 24: AN OPEN WINDOW AND A NET CURTAIN BLOWING INTO THE SHAPE OF A CORNUCOPIA. As I’ve long said, I see Chiron as being, amongst other things, The Stories We Tell Ourselves (about our deficiencies, our ‘wounds’). Chiron’s message appears to be to belief in the goodness of life, to open up the windows and the doors, literally or figuratively, and let the sunshine and air in.

This Symbol shows that your mind is, or should be, open to possibilities that are being ‘blown’ in from the realm of spirit. There is an abundance coming, shown by the cornucopia, that will be self-sustaining. This degree suggests that with the slightest change in direction your fortunes could change as well. Look for out-of-the-ordinary opportunities and possibilities. Realizing that in one’s everyday life, one has it all.

Keywords: Imagination. Keeping your options open. The promise of fruition. The breath of life filled with inspiration. Realizing that in everyday life, one has it all. Windows of opportunity. Gain, abundance, riches. Spiritual energies pouring in. Concentrated energy. Seeing desires taking shape. Curtains and windows.

The Caution: Relying on spiritual ideas to provide material sustenance. Dreaming of things dropping into one’s lap. Hoping that good luck will just ‘blow in’. Shutting windows, keeping light and life out. Drawing curtains and withdrawing. Promises, promises.
