Turning Disappointment Into Opportunities: Chiron’s Retrograde Journey Into 2026
|
It is always  There is luxury in self-reproach. When we blame ourselves, we feel no one else has a right to blame us. Oscar Wilde Nothing is enough for the man to whom enough is too little. Epicurus We are ever striving after what is forbidden, and coveting what is denied us. Ovid People ask for your criticism, but they only want praise. Somerset Maugham Plato was a bore. Friedrich Nietzsche Stupid TV. Be more funny. Homer Simpson A bad review is even less important than whether it is raining in Patagonia. Iris Murdoch The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one. Elbert Hubbard
I Chronic – an anagram for Chironic. Of course, Chiron also represents the teacher, the herbalist, the alchemist and the shaman – those energies that often stand outside of the ‘norms of society’ (being Australian, I can see a pun in the name Norm in that phrase – the ones that operate on automatic pilot, sitting on front of the TV without a single original or creative thought. I sense that you understand what I mean and no offense to anyone with the name Norm). Chiron went retrograde on Aries 28: A LARGE DISAPPOINTED AUDIENCE on July 12 and went stationary retrograde on this degree on July 31 and moved off this degree on the 17th August. The fact that it went retrograde on this degree means that the ‘disappointed audience’ is being strongly highlighted in this Chironic journey. We have seen many reasons to be ‘disappointed’, angry perhaps, let down, betrayed and perhaps led astray or outright lied to. Chiron stayed on the ‘disappointed audience’ degree for over a month and we can see a lot of that playing out in the media, politically and, no doubt, also in our own personal lives. We saw, and are still seeing, enormous disappointments and when Chiron first moved onto this degree and went retrograde, we were seeing for one example, people feeling betrayed, lied to or misled about the Epstein files. There’s loads more examples and no doubt many of us will have our own issues around the idea of disappointment -there’s enough to go around. Chiron will again go over this degree on the 22nd April and will be on this degree until the 9th May 2026 when it will clear the shadow of the retrograde. So, without wanting to bring ‘disappointment’ into people’s lives through me talking about this – we will be experiencing this Symbol again next year. Something to say here is that we are still experiencing Aries 28 – the disappointment degree – as the energies don’t suddenly disappear when the planet or point moves off a degree – we are, as a collective and individually – experiencing the large disappointed audience. BTW, it doesn’t have to be a ‘large’ audience – it can be an audience of one. It’s about the energies, not the specifics. Please remember that you always add one to the zodiacal degree to get the Sabian Symbol. 27+ Aries = Aries 28 in the Sabian Symbols (it’s easy, just add one – I didn’t make up this system, BTW!). The following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees of Wisdom. The quotes at the beginning of this post are also from this Symbol in my book. Aries 28: A LARGE DISAPPOINTED AUDIENCE.
Oracle: You might feel as though you or someone else has failed and left others wanting. But how much is this because too much was expected in the first place? The ‘Audience’ only remembers the last performance, so get up and try again, but this time be more realistic. Be aware that in drawing this Symbol you may be an observer (in the ‘Audience’), or you may even be your own ‘Audience’. Does this picture a situation where you are living through the responses you receive from others? Do you feel that you’ve let yourself down? Sometimes it is necessary to acknowledge when an idea or action needs to be dropped or stopped, to be able to cut your losses. Still, getting mentally and emotionally psyched up for something enjoyable and worthy can bring rewards, especially if you lower the expectations of the end result. Quick realizations of things as they really are can bring a sense of hope for a better outcome next time. We need to remember that we often project our own thoughts and expectations onto others; perhaps we can actually learn something more from failure than from success. Watch your reactions to the situation facing you, and see what comes up. What can you learn from observing your and others’ expectations? How strongly do you expect them to be fulfilled? Keywords: Adjustments of expectations bringing realizations about what is really possible. Expecting the response of others. Walking out during a performance. Not listening to something through a lack of interest. Anticipating a different result from what is delivered. Relying on feedback. Lines and queues of people. Criticism. The need to inspire and enthuse. The Caution: Feeling sad, sorry or letdown because of defeat and frustration. A lot of people left feeling emotionally “wiped-out”. Shattering of illusions. Fickleness. The attitude that one can’t do anything. Everything being out of one’s control. Watching what’s going on and not participating. Being at the mercy of the whims and fancies of others. Judging and analyzing oneself or others. Too many people crammed into one spot. Not getting a seat. Refusal of entry. Booing and hissing.
On the 18th August, Chiron moved  Chiron will again be on this degree from the 22nd April until the 10th of May 2026. However, it’s not as if this Symbol is not still active from now until then, we can use our imagination to find a ‘lost opportunity’ at any time. However, when Chiron’s actually on the degree, it is magnified. I always notice when this degree is around: It speaks of second chances, trying something different perhaps, changing our mind about what’s been happening and seeing that bigger and better things can come through our mindset, through our ‘imagination’. I have long been a fan of Neville Goddard (if you haven’t heard of him perhaps do a search on him, he was a wonderful mind and he was the inspiration behind such modern day teachers as Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer and I believe Joe Dispenza as well). Neville Goddard taught that it is by using our imagination that all that we want can be achieved by us. Sounds lofty but I’ve seen it work on my own life (I imagine that many reading this have also done this). Neville has his Jupiter on this degree (which kind of blew my mind), and, his talks and writings centered on the use of the imagination to create the world that we want. Determined imagination, thinking from the end, is the beginning of all miracles.– Neville Goddard, Awakened Imagination Assume the feeling of your wish fulfilled and observe the route that your attention follows. Neville Goddard The Power of Awareness Just think how happy you would be if you lost everything you have right now, and then got it back again. Frances Rodman The ultimate function of prophecy is not to tell the future, but to make it. Joel A. Barker There is no use trying, said Alice; one can’t believe impossible things. I dare say you haven’t had much practice, said the Queen. . Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. Lewis Carrol ![]() Keywords: Creative imagination and visualization. Hopes renewed when all seemed lost. Second chances. Last minute reprieves. Retracing your steps. Judging things to be positive when once they were thought to be negative. Being exonerated or forgiven. Pardons giving release. Imagineering. Retrieving things. Making up for lost ground or time. Changing your mind therefore changing your outcome. The Caution: Relying on self-pity. Denying the imagination to recover the situation. Not noticing solutions to problems. Letting chances for recovery disappear through inaction or laziness. Going over and over lost opportunities. Finding it impossible to let go. Staring at loss and not realizing what one has.
Chiron moves onto Aries 26 again in it’s forward movement on the 19th March until the 6th April 2026. Keywords: Potentials and the obsessions they can bring. Obsessions about “having things” or achieving goals. Counting one’s blessings. Jack-of-all-trades. Having to drop the bundle if one more thing is added. Being talented and blessed. Enormous responsibilities. Wanting to contain all possibilities. Storage. So many things to do—so little time. The Caution: Not being able to focus on one issue at a time, or on ideas of real worth and therefore not really achieving anything. Inability to gain or contain everything that is desired. Ambition that knows no bounds. Greediness and insatiability. Being told that you can’t have what you want. Things piling up. Juggling and dropping the ball. Feeling as though you will lose everything. Being overwhelmed with possibilities. On October 14th, Chiron retrograded back onto Aries 25: A DOUBLE PROMISE REVEALS
Chiron will again move onto this degree on the 28th February until the 5th April 2026. Keywords: Rewards, but what do they bring with them? The possible implications of or reasons for any promises. Something that may look good on the outside, but prove to be difficult. Looking for consensus. Possibilities and promises. The ins and outs of situations. Not turning up. The need to look at situations from all sides. Internal vs. external realities. Catch-22 situations. Contracts. The Caution: Fickleness, insincerity and two-facedness in human relationships. Expectations without clarification. Reversals of decisions or promises. Duplicity. Manipulating people in order to achieve outcomes. Promising more than can be delivered. Endeavours or projects that are not worth the effort. Lies and misleading statements. Having a hidden agenda. Momentary pledges that are soon forgotten. Contracts that bind. On the 6th November, Chiron retrogrades onto Aries 24: AN OPEN Chiron moves onto Aries 24 on the 1st February until the 28 February 2026. Keywords: Imagination. Keeping your options open. The promise of fruition. The breath of life filled with inspiration. Realizing that in everyday life, one has it all. Windows of opportunity. Gain, abundance, riches. Spiritual energies pouring in. Concentrated energy. Seeing desires taking shape. Curtains and windows. The Caution: Relying on spiritual ideas to provide material sustenance. Dreaming of things dropping into one’s lap. Hoping that good luck will just ‘blow in’. Shutting windows, keeping light and life out. Drawing curtains and withdrawing. Promises, promises.
Chiron goes stationary direct on the ‘veiled load’ on January 3 and clears this degree on the 1st February 2026. Keywords: Privacy. Quiet determination to get on with the job. Mild manners. Carrying more than one’s share, gratefully or grudgingly. Shouldering problems. Bad backs. Victim status – poor me! Secret pregnancies. Doing overtime. Heavy loads. Smiling against the odds. Pastel colors. Codes of silence. The Caution: Covering something up. Trying to conceal distrust. Keeping one’s thoughts and emotions locked-in creating ill health and disease. Fading into the background. Not being noticed or recognized. Feeling weighed down with shame, loss or humiliation. Wearing dark clothes. Dressing in order to cover up. Being the family scapegoat. Heavy karma. What does the Sabian Oracle say to you? |

I’ve long seen Chiron as not only the Wounded Healer archetype, but, I see it as The Stories We Tell Ourselves. I came to this conclusion decades ago by acknowledging that if we have a ‘wound’ there is usually a story attached to it and the longer we think about, speak about and mull over what that wound is, the longer we hang onto it. Easier said than done, I realise, and it’s not like it’s always easy to get rid of our wounds, however, if we take the charge out of whatever has hurt us or is holding us back or making us feel less than or somehow ‘damaged’, we are very likely to feel that the ‘wound’ is dissipating or doesn’t have quite the hold over us that it once did. Chiron, when it’s doing it’s thing, can have us feeling unattractive, misshaped or like a fish out of water, the scapegoat in the family or the one that others might reject because we’re a truth teller.
Commentary: ‘A Large Disappointed Audience’ implies that a performance of some kind or something that was done was not what was wanted or expected. People have witnessed or experienced something that was a ‘Disappointment’ or a letdown. It’s hard to know just what or how much the ‘Audience’ was expecting, but it is clear that they weren’t happy with the performance or outcome.

WINDOW AND A NET CURTAIN BLOWING INTO THE SHAPE OF A CORNUCOPIA. Sometimes we need to clear out the cobwebs and dust, to open the windows and doors (physically or metaphorically) and let fresh new energy come in, or, open the way so that it can come in.
