Britain is not a country that is easily rocked by revolution . . . In Britain our institutions evolve. We are a Fabian Society writ large. William Hamilton
July’s full Moon occurs on July 9, and, well, there’s been some very big and meaningful lunations (new and full Moons) over the years, but, I’d have to say that this one takes the cake in terms of the energies involved. I’ve rarely seen one this enormous, it is what I would call a super doozy full Moon – and, it is hard not to be concerned about what might transpire from this time period. Having said that, it doesn’t help to add to the fear that’s being ramped up for political and social reasons; we are being played enormously, our fears being heightened by a lot of news that has little to no basis to it, and, it does us no good to go along with it.
Some time ago, I saw this period (in terms of the fear and worry that’s erupting) coming with Neptune going retrograde on Pisces 15. Along with other astrological factors, I knew it was going to be having us feeling like the sky is falling. The Chicken Little effect has certainly gone into overdrive – for a start, I’m seeing people freaking out on social media about what might happen as a result of North Korea’s missile testing, and, some of the things I’m reading and hearing are pure nonsense – surely designed to have us scared. Of course, I could be wrong, no one knows anything with complete certainty about what’s going on, but, my take on it is that NK is going to continue to be testing missiles, and, lobbing them every now and then, BUT, I really don’t think that much will come from it all other than blustering, posturing and bluffing. Here’s hoping, anyway. I hope I’m right.
Having said the above, this is a BIG full Moon. This is a Mars/Pluto event write large, and, there’s a lot of reason to be feeling awake and aware and rather trepidacious, but, to let emotions take over can lead us into a full-blown freak-out, and that is not at all useful. Rather, this full Moon could be asking us to feel more empowered, not less… that’s the trick, to feel a sense that all is going to be OK. We may need to reign in our energies, yes, we may need to let conflicts slide on by, yes, and, we might need to be watching less news, paying less attention to the ridiculous side-show that now passes for reality in world and domestic news.
This full Moon is very closely conjunct (together with) Pluto, and, Mars is closely conjunct the Sun… so, in the lead-up to this full Moon, Mars and Pluto are opposite each other. All of this is also being t- squared by Jupiter, ramping up the energies, and, Jupiter in this type of aspect can have people firmly entrenched in their beliefs, political persuasions, religious positions, etc. These are big energies. These are challenging energies, but, it’s by negotiating these times carefully, not allowing ourselves to get carried away with anger, upset, doubt or fear, that we can come out of this full Moon period feeling way better, stronger, more enlivened.
It’s interesting to note that Pluto is smack opposite it’s discovery point, and, the Sun is conjuncting it, and, Mars has been traversing that point – Cancer 18 – for the few days before this full Moon. The discovery point of Pluto is Cancer 18: A HEN SCRATCHING FOR HER CHICKS, and, this is incredibly illuminating and interesting when one takes into consideration the fact that Demeter, the grain goddess, is a big part of the Pluto myth, as is her daughter Persephone (her ‘chick’ – her offspring). I have been surprised to see not one mention of Pluto being opposite it’s discovery point and I’ve been meaning to do something on it, but, well, there’s still time as Pluto is hanging around for some time yet on these degrees. I feel to mention that the Quest Degree for the Pluto discovery point is Cancer 19: A PRIEST PERFORMING A MARRIAGE CEREMONY, and, one of the major themes of Pluto is ‘marriage’, the inner marriage or the outer marriage. It is all so incredibly interesting, and, illuminating. So we are experiencing a very Plutonian time. And, what does this mean exactly? Well, it largely means finding a sense of our own inner power, not being lorded over or dictated by others. Be aware of our boundaries, both inner and outer. If we feel like barging into other people’s spaces, we will do well to remember that they have their boundaries (or should have!) too… their own sensibilities, there own anchors, no matter how much we might disagree with their stance.
Mars and Saturn are in a quincunx (150 degree) aspect to each other. This can feel like a slow, simmering anger. We might be feeling a sense of frustration with how things that we really want are moving too slowly, or, we might feel like assigning blame or whatever to others. We would, again, do well if we stop and think and figure whether this particular hill (problem, issue, event) is worth dying for – that is one of my sayings “is this hill worth dying on?” – we can find ourselves feeling cut off, frustrated, perhaps alone. The thing is to take the charge out of any negative feelings. I regularly think “do I really need to think about this thing now?” and “is it useful? to think r feel like this?”.
On an easier note, Saturn is trining the Moon’s north nodes, so, it’s through work, discipline of the mind and emotions, and, through planning and organising our lives better that we can achieve a great deal at this time. Uranus is also trining the nodes… so, new ideas, new perspectives, new alliances, bigger and better breakthroughs in understanding what’s going on are in the air. One of the messages from Uranus is to remember that good timing can be a great asset, as can listening to, or, paying attention to music. In fact, I’d say music is one of the best things we can use to turn our thoughts, emotions, situations, etc, around.
In the week following this full Moon, Mars is moving into a square to Uranus. This can have us making some big decisions, cutting off from things that no longer work for us, etc. It can, of course, bring up more and more anger and frustration, but, with judicious releasing of our energies through exercise, blowing off steam in safe environments, making good decisions for our futures, etc, we can find release in this aspect. It is noteworthy that Mars will also be trining Chiron at the same time: Take note of The Stories That You Tell Yourself. This is a major key at the moment (although, when is it not?!).
Another way of negotiating these energies is being shown with Mercury and Venus in a nice sextile aspect to each other. Softening our stance, not being too bound up in ‘being right’ (or caring if others are doing it), listening to the worthwhile messages that are coming through, etc, is the way forward. Mercury’s message seems to be to allow for differences in opinion, to realise the differences that exist between people, as well as the things that bind us together. Mercury’s message of the old fashioned woman face-to-face with an up-to-date girl can have see us feeling like we are being reminded of something – we might be reminded of how we were when we were younger, or, we might do well to remember that we are not all the same, even if we are all the same in the end (a bit cryptic, I know, but I think you understand what I mean – our differences can unite us in some way)… of course, we might find ourselves cutting off entirely from some things, some people, or whatever, if we think it is for the best.
There’s more that can be said about all of this, but, it is covered in the list of Sabian Symbols for the planets below.

The full Moon each month marks a time of heightened energies and events. It often marks the culmination of the energies released at the new Moon. Emotions can be supercharged as the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the zodiac and illumination is increased – it’s like we can see in the dark – and we can be hyper-aware as well as being hyper-awake. The effects of a full Moon can be major or minor, depending on how they interact with your own chart. Sometimes, realisations or events that are unleashed, or unlocked, can stretch their meaning months into the future. A lot can be learned at the time of the full Moon and whether it’s lunacy or illumination, or a combination of both, there’s magic unleashed with every full Moon.
The full Moon is on Capricorn 18: THE UNION JACK FLIES FROM A NEW BRITISH WARSHIP – the following interpretation is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom –
Commentary: ‘The Union Jack Flies From a New British Warship’ is an image of the need for protection and control. It pictures having to oversee and protect a large “empire” where reliability and leadership are vital to the welfare of the people. Having to make one’s presence felt and to guard one’s territory can be a tiring responsibility, but there is an awareness of the guidance and protection of “all who went before”. Effective supervision needs to be employed to protect what’s been won, sometimes at great cost, from others who might want to take it away. Countries, and things such as social and political constructs, all the way down to the individual, need this surveillance and protection from those who might invade, attack or threaten. We invest the “armed forces’ with this responsibility, so that we, as individuals in society, may enjoy our secure lives.
Oracle: This Symbol is about the need to defend our ideals, lifestyle or culture from outside influences. It is important to show one’s power, but also to continually renew strength. This can be a show put on for others, but also an affirmation of safety for yourself and those who are in your circle of influence or protection. If there is a threat from outside your boundaries, or from within, there needs to be a swift response to snuff it out. However, if anarchy erupts within the ranks, political ploys may be used such as the concept of “divide and rule”—the political rule that government is more easily maintained if factions are set against each other and not allowed to unite against the ruler. Distrust or disrespect for “authority” can lead to problems with people branded traitors. Having confidence in your ability to hold, maintain and protect your own “turf” will ensure others do as well.
Keywords: Colonialism. Protectionism. The government, big business and the media. Class-consciousness. Power and political displays. Displays of “law and order”. Border patrols and protection. Strength and might. Nationalism. Royalty. The ruling elite. Supervision. The armed forces. Patrols. Pitting people against each other. Empires. Victory bringing riches. The mother country. The struggle against decline. Flags. Imperialism. The Commonwealth. The rule of law.
The Caution: Artificial shows of strength. Bullying from the “big guys”. Being armed “to the teeth”. Strong-arm tactics. Disrespect for authority. People or institutions that throw their weight around. Anarchy. Traitors. Being anti-establishment. Social disintegration. War games. Civil wars. Feeling squeezed by authority. Rebellion. Civilian lives lost for political causes. Governing forces that deny individual rights. Invasions. Being defensive.
The Karmic Degree for the Moon is Capricorn 17: A YOUNG PERSON SURREPTITIOUSLY BATHING IN THE NUDE
This Symbol shows getting rid of the restraints imposed by social conditioning and inhibitions; to strip down to bare essentials and not be
ashamed of it. The “Young Person” is enjoying the feeling of not having clothes or costume to constrain or cover them. They are also letting the sun and the air contact their skin which is very healthy and revivifying. Although there may be some feelings of being ‘exposed’, really letting go and not worrying about being ‘seen’ can lead to feelings of freedom. This applies to a freeing up or exposing on a spiritual and emotional level as well, it’s not confined to physical realities.
Keywords: Confrontations with one’s self. Reconnecting with nature. A desire to “reveal” oneself mentally, physically or emotionally. Issues with weight. The manipulation of the female form in the media. Exhibitionism. Learning to let go of extraneous things. Confronting puritanism. Being at one with the environment. Releasing inhibitions. Stripping. Streaking. Sun lotions.

The Quest Degree for the Moon is Capricorn 19: A CHILD OF ABOUT FIVE CARRYING A HUGE SHOPPING BAG FILLED WITH GROCERIES
This Symbol shows having to “Carry” heavy loads, to shoulder responsibilities, do chores and jobs and help others, sometimes because there’s no one else who can or will do it. Often, the “Child” gets these responsibilities because they are the one who others know is going to take it seriously, completing the task, taking care of details. You may feel that you have been burdened with responsibilities beyond normal expectations and possibly beyond your capability. Despite being keen and enthusiastic, you must be careful not to try to take on too much, or do too much, or too quickly. Like a child, you need to play, be creative and rest.
Keywords: Being the one everyone counts on to do the job. Feeling weighed down. Having to carry the “bag”. Lifting heavy weights and bearing the consequences. Taking on things above and beyond what one should. Acting the grownup. Maturing quickly. Looking after paperwork. Running errands. Providing food and sustenance for everyone.

Moon symbolizes: Emotions, moods, mother, family, clan, domestic issues, relationship to home and country. Feelings, sentiments, nourishment, emotional nurturing, monkey chatter mind, lunar and menstrual cycles, clarity of emotions or lunacy. Female energy – yours and others.
The Sun is on Cancer 18: A HEN IS SCRATCHING FOR HER CHICKS
This Symbol shows the essential need for nourishment that must be satisfied in order to proceed in life. The ‘Hen’ needs to be there for ‘Her Chicks’ in order for them to grow and mature in safety. There are those around you who also depend on your ability to provide nourishment, both the literal food, and the symbolic, spiritual caring. Getting down to business and finding what nourishes will bring improvement and growth with small beginnings growing into fabulous and successful outcomes. This degree points to the mother hen in us all but we must be careful not to overprotect or fuss about our brood.
Keywords: Searching for sustenance. Being devoted to nurturing small beginnings. Concern for the essential, small details. Repetitive cycles of things that have to be done. Being the “breadwinner”. The Quest Degree for the Sun is Cancer 19: A PRIEST PERFORMING A MARRIAGE CEREMONY
This Symbol speaks of the ability, or the necessity, of bringing people together so they may enjoy, grow and learn from each other. It turns out that the simplest expressions of the heart and mind often need to be acknowledged in a ritualistic performance so that we feel we are indulging in the customs and traditions of our society. There is a need for a sense of blessing from a higher power. Whether this is about an actual ‘Marriage Ceremony’, a hand-fasting ceremony, or some other kind of bonding ritual, there’s a need for people to come together to make commitments and vows to each other.
Keywords: Wedding ceremonies. Sanctified unity. Expressions of loyalty and allegiance. Making sacred vows. Commitment to a person or project. New ventures involving a lowering of accepted standards. Breaking social norms. Integration of heart and mind. Bridging generation gaps. Marriage guidance. Contracts signed and honored. Handclaspings. Hatch, match and dispatch ceremonies. Celebrants.

Mercury is on Leo 6: AN OLD FASHIONED ‘CONSERVATIVE’ WOMAN IS CONFRONTED BY AN UP-TO-DATE GIRL
This Symbol speaks of being prepared to integrate the conservative and the new, the young and the old and the tried-and-true with the more innovative. You may find yourself faced with choices around these issues. Although both camps hold promise and reward, it is the best qualities of both that is the proper compromise. Even though your habits may be ingrained, there comes a time when you are faced with issues from another perspective. If something or someone is “Confronting” you, remember that often what confronts or bothers us about others really shows issues that have to be examined about ourselves. It may be time to smarten up your act!
Keywords: Conservatism challenged by changing, energetic forms. Learning to let one’s hair down. Letting go and having a good time. Issues of age and what one’s capable of. Ideas challenged. Learning experiences. Renovations. Business takeovers. Different capabilities and talents. People acting or working together regardless of their differences. Generation gaps. Concentrating. The Quest Degree for Mercury is Leo 7: THE WONDER OF THE CONSTELLATIONS OF STARS IN THE NIGHT SKY
This Symbol brings up issues to do with the bigger questions of life; even the simple issues should be seen against the backdrop of something far greater and more meaningful than they may at first appear. We on planet Earth can feel like a tiny speck when we consider how huge our solar system or the universe is, however, we each are an important part; we are all stars in our own right. Keeping this in mind helps to keep our lives in perspective. Questions such as “what is life really about” and “what does it all mean” are likely to come up.
Keywords: Reminders of the patterns, integration and enormity of nature. The big picture. Observing signatures. A determination to “be somebody”. The Stars and Stripes. Feeling like a tiny fleck against the backdrop of the vault of the sky. Space travel and its wonders. Signs from the heavens. Answers sought through astrology. Astronomy. Being a shining star. Venus is on Gemini 5: A RADICAL MAGAZINE OR PUBLICATION, ASKING FOR ACTION, DISPLAYS A SENSATIONAL FRONT PAGE
This Symbol speaks of calling for or being motivated for change. Revolution and revolutionaries come in all shapes and sizes; some
instigate major changes in society, others are more into bucking the system and creating mini reforms in their own back yards. Although you may not be absolutely sure which direction to take, you are likely to be broadcasting your messages. Look further within for the change in direction you need. Dramatizing one’s situation can lead to overreaction, but doing nothing can lead to inertia and things staying exactly the same. Listening may be important.
Keywords: Speaking one’s mind. Messages and news that awakes or shocks. The need for reform. Challenging outlooks. Breaking out of constraints. The media. Issues of propaganda. Headlines that promise more than they deliver. Revolutions. Social or emotional causes. Conspiracy theories. Printing presses. Publishing. Publicity. Gaining attention. This Symbol shows the talent, desire, ability or the necessity of digging deep in order to find something or to make a big strike. Ambition in the pursuit of material or spiritual wealth can bring wonderful rewards to the surface. There’s a feeling of wanting to reach into or understand the depths of an issue. This entails a certain amount of risk and may require the cooperation of others who have skills in such a search. The rewards are often difficult to find and at times unsuccessful, however, perseverance will bring some kind of success. You may have to get used to operating in the dark.
Keywords: Pursuit of material or spiritual wealth. Ambition. The drive to plumb the depths. Trying to get to the bottom of things. Opportunistic attitudes. Making a fortune through other’s resources. The Quest Degree for Mars is Cancer 24: A WOMAN AND TWO MEN (OR A MAN AND TWO WOMEN) CAST AWAY ON A SMALL ISLAND
This Symbol shows people seem locked into some situation, environment or relationship that pushes the boundaries of relationships. There could be too many people, as in relationship triangles, or there could just be too many people to take into consideration as sometimes happens, i.e., when a child intrudes too much into a relationship between adults. You may find that it is difficult to choose what you want as others may have something different to say. Your wants seem to vacillate from one extreme to the other. Perhaps there is a need to get away from those trying to confuse you with conflicting views, although this may sometimes be impossible.

Jupiter is on Libra 15: CIRCULAR PATHS
This Symbol implies issues to do with ever repeating cycles of activity that often lead one around in circles or back to where one began. ‘Circular Paths’ lead us around and there may indeed be a feeling of being back where you started, but remember the experience and learning you have gained on your journey to where you are now. There is a cosmic rhythm and cycle, but when you return to what seems to be where you started, you will have new experience and new skills. However, if you’re not getting anywhere it can be because of addictive behavior that continually leads to the same result.
Keywords: Going round and round. The orbits of the planets. Cosmic rhythms and cycles. The cycles of life. Things we feel we can trust. The secure path that never really leads anywhere. Crop circles. Realizing mistakes and learning from them. The wheels of progress. Merry-go-rounds. Circular machinery. Mazes and labyrinths. Chaos theory. Learning through repetition. Looking for somewhere to park.
The Caution: Being lost in small details. Sweating the small stuff. Episodes that repeat themselves. Boredom. Addictive cycles that are hard to get rid of. Treadmills.

Saturn is retrograde on Sagittarius 23: A GROUP OF IMMIGRANTS FULFILLING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING A NEW COUNTRY
This Symbol shows finding a new way of life, a new country or nationality, or new place to live and raise a family. It shows the possibility and hope for better things and a new way of life. Whether you are an “Immigrant” or someone looking to move onto new territory, you need to be prepared to venture out into new adventures for the promise that’s offered. Once you’ve “Fulfilled the Requirements”, you can move into this brand new life and reap the rewards. This Symbol speaks of the beauty of music and harmony and it is particularly intuitive. It doesn’t matter if things are going well or not, if you are in tune with the inner voice, this can show an inner accord with your path. Savor the lessons that come and know that everything happens in its own time and you’ll grow in wisdom. ‘The Music of the Spheres’ can show attuning to the messages of astrology, numerology, mathematics and science. The Caution: Inflating rational ideas to appear to be inspired thought. Delusion or enlightenment? Getting lost in abstractions. Loving only the sound of one’s own voice.
The Karmic Degree for stationing Uranus is Aries 28: A LARGE DISAPPOINTED AUDIENCE
This Symbol shows a sense of being an observer or a spectator, sometimes more than being a participant. You may have an inner critic that analyses things. In fact you might feel as though you, or someone else, have failed and left something wanting. But how much is this because too much was expected in the first place? The ‘Audience’ sometimes only remembers the last performance, so get up and try again. Be aware that you may be your own ‘audience’. Do you feel that things have or haven’t lived up to expectations? Are you missing out through negative projections? Perhaps your need to feel satisfied, to perform or be fulfilled should be more realistic.
Keywords: Adjustments of expectations bringing realizations about what is really possible. Expecting the response of others. Walking out during a performance. Not listening to something through a lack of interest. Anticipating a different result from what is delivered. Relying on feedback. Lines and queues of people. Criticism. Neptune is stationary retrograde on Pisces 15: AN OFFICER DRILLING HIS MEN IN A SIMULATED ATTACK
This shows being well rehearsed, prepared and ready for anything that life throws at you. When you’re well rehearsed, you are able to spring to attention when situations warrant it. You may feel that you need to rehearse or prepare for difficult situations. There is wisdom in practicing to reduce the chance of error or failure. However, are you going over and over possible positive or negative outcomes thereby losing the joy that can be found in relaxing and letting down your guard? Sometimes the things we think are going to happen don’t happen at all. Choosing where, when and how to be ready and willing to go for objectives is half the battle.
Keywords: Taking orders to better respond to situations. The higher self training the lower self. Exercises. Marching and going through the motions. The need for defense. Seeing ahead. Planning strategies. Fire drills. Smoke alarms. Being prepared. Issuing orders and expecting them to be followed through. Discipline. Martial arts of all kinds. Going over and over possible outcomes.
The Caution: Overloading the innocent and the inexperienced without thought of the consequences. Never being ‘off duty’. Dropping the bundle. Carrying the family.
The Karmic Degree for retrograde Pluto is Capricorn 18: THE UNION JACK FLIES FROM A NEW BRITISH WARSHIP
This Symbol talks about supervision, border protection and control. There can be a feeling of having to oversee a large ’empire’ where reliability and leadership are vital. This can be a tiring responsibility, but there can be an awareness of the protection of ‘all who went before’. However, political and social restraints from the past could be causing you to feel that you’ve somehow got to ‘wage war’. Issues to do with the government can come up, whether you agree with what they do or not. You may be confronted with having to make your presence felt and guard your territory. Effective supervision will help you to relax.

Chiron is retrograde on Pisces 29: LIGHT BREAKING INTO MANY COLORS AS IT PASSES THROUGH A PRISM
This shows analyzing things, considering and drawing conclusions from available data and being perceptive of colors, light refraction or reflection, auras and light. You probably have the ability to break situations down into the simplest components in order to see the full picture. This can and often does lead to a greater understanding of the relationship between the whole and the many parts. Just be careful not to overanalyze, thereby losing the joy that’s inherent in the simplicities of life. Taking a single vision and turning it into many individual streams can be rewarding, but it can also confuse and distract.
Keywords: Spectrum analysis. Color and crystal healing. Rainbows. Light refraction. Side effects. Considering many facets of a situation. Endless opportunities. Optics. Sight. Seeing. Copying and sharing ideas or things. Disseminating information. Auras and aura photography. Triangles. Polarization of light. Reflection. Laboratory tests. Diffracted personality.

The Moon’s North Node is on Leo 25: A LARGE CAMEL CROSSING A VAST AND FORBIDDING DESERT
This Symbol implies the need to push ahead in difficult times, going alone and coping even in the most difficult circumstances. It also shows being self sufficient, or someone with a big journey to complete. You may find that your situation has been like an arduous journey, but there could still be further to go. Be confident that you have the reserves to survive and the endurance to succeed. Although you may like the company and assistance of others, in the end you can really rely only on yourself. Self sufficiency and mental self-control are necessary as is a commitment to get to the other side of your issue.

The Moon’s South Node is on Aquarius 25: A BUTTERFLY WITH THE RIGHT WING MORE PERFECTLY FORMED
This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to find balance, to find your center so that you might be more effective, stable and organized. As the “Butterfly” has a “Right Wing More Perfectly Formed”, you may be applying your rational logical mind out of balance to your intuitive and creative wisdom, or, vice versa. It is often harder to understand your intuitive messages, but reliance on logic can limit your possibilities. However, not applying logic can lead to big problems as well. There can be physical handicaps which may prevent one from truly doing what one wants, or strange imbalances on the spiritual level.
Keywords: Rising above life’s distortions. A need to bring some type of balance to situations. Injuries or problems with hands or arms. One side being more ‘Perfect’ than the other. The ‘Right’ being better than the left. Mutations. Handicaps. Challenges. Disabilities. Impediments. Let us take things as we find them: let us not attempt to distort them into what they are not. We cannot make facts. All our wishing cannot change them. We must use them. John Henry Cardinal Newman
The Caution: Imbalance of function. Lopsidedness. Flapping around and getting no where. Mutations. Being at a disadvantage. Hindrances. Judging beauty on external appearances.
The Moon’s South Node symbolizes: Past karmic patterns to be overcome, can be habits that are good, but can describe things, relationships, issues that you need to let go of, or, hold you back from manifesting your true destiny. Relationships that feel karmic and difficult, memories from the past.
