I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and encouragement over the past year. 2017 was rather rough on many of us, but, I can at least state that I’m finishing 2017 in a better condition than I was in at the beginning of the year! I wish you all a fabulous 2018, and, again, thank you!
There’s always more to say about these full and new Moons, but, I’ll leave it to the Sabian Symbols below. They are always so illuminating!
The new Moon each month marks a time of new beginnings and realisations. It’s like a birth after a time of gestation or being ‘in the womb’. Here, the light begins to return and we can see new beginnings and possibilities. A new Moon means that the Sun and the Moon are both together – bringing a synergy of their energies together. The new Moon is a perfect time to set your intentions for the future. This period is wonderful for planting seeds of whatever kind. What do you want to manifest in your future? Whether you write it down, sing about it or just hold the thought forms in your mind, doing this at the new Moon can realise some fabulous results around the things that you want to draw into your life
New Moon: Dec 18, 2017 6:30 am GMT
The new Moon is on Sagittarius 27: THE SCULPTOR’S VISION IS SLOWLY BUT SURELY TAKING FORM – the following is my interpretation from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom –
Commentary: ‘The Sculptor’s Vision’ shows an image of some desired shape or outcome, a picture that is projected out onto the world through creative work. The fact that the ‘Vision Is Slowly But Surely Taking Form’ shows that slow and sometimes painstaking detail is needed to work towards something that is truly worth the time and effort.
Oracle: You are in a situation where you are able to manipulate things or events into something of value and lasting integrity. There is the ability, or the need, to project shape and ‘Form’ onto materials or situations to have a desired outcome; to have the ‘Vision’ actually be allowed to ‘Take Form’. Who and what we are in our more private moments right through to our public lives is largely shown through the life we manifest, the reality we see before us and create. This Symbol can indicate the changing of one’s body shape or gaining or losing weight so the appearance can fit the vision that one has in mind. Whatever ‘The Vision’ is, it is ‘Surely Taking Form’, and you’ll be able to see clues to how it’s shaping up in the situation facing you. The work that needs to be done, or the desired outcome, is finally able to take shape. However, it is a good idea to observe and decide whether the ‘Form’ that you want is actually what is eventuating or in the pipeline. Attention and work on the situation at hand will ensure a final outcome of one’s objectives. Be especially careful to ask for what you truly want or need. Is the ‘Form’ that is evolving truly resonant with who you are? Concentrate on what you want and don’t deviate from the ‘Vision’ as your work could be spoilt with one wrong stroke of the brush. Follow the ‘Vision’ and be creative; picture an outcome and watch it materialize.
Keywords: Concrete creative manifestation. The Godhead. This is the Symbol of the Galactic Center. Creating the ‘Vision’. Evolution. Things going from crude beginnings all the way up to concrete outcomes. Sculptors and sculptures. Molding shapes and forms. Seeing and visualizing things ahead of their time. Sticking with the creation.
The Caution: Disregard of others’ needs. Unnatural focus on the goal. Being one-eyed about the outcome. Watching a situation, or one’s life “crystallize” into unbending shapes. Having one’s designs set in stone. Sitting back and thinking that things will just magically happen without any effort being made. Others believing they know what you should do or be.
The Karmic Degree for the Moon is Sagittarius 26: A FLAG-BEARER IN A BATTLE
This Symbol shows standing up in “Battle” carrying the “Flag” for your nation, political, social or moral beliefs, or for some issue that needs defending or supporting. The “Flag-Bearer” is often the one ‘out front’, in front of the situation or the army; the one who’s unarmed and yet determined to represent their side. You may feel that there have been achievements done by you or others that need to be acknowledged. Responsibilities pile up on you, and the struggle is not always easy. Don’t worry, though, although everyone around you is busy, they are noticing your leadership abilities. You are often the linchpin of the whole situation.
Keywords: Having the courage of convictions. Standing up for ideals. Representing one’s collective in a worthy cause. Carrying the standard or the ‘Flag’. David and Goliath. Being the messenger. Advocates. Ensigns. Leadership. Self sacrifice. Fighting for political ideals. Flag waving.
The Caution: The sacrificial lamb. Overzealous idealism. Empty shows of courage. The scapegoat. Always being ready to go into battle. Violence. Fanaticism. Stepping out of line. An inability to keep quiet. Not knowing when to back off.
The Quest Degree for the Moon is Sagittarius 28: A SPLENDIDLY BUILT BRIDGE, A HERITAGE OF UNKNOWN AGES, STILL SPANS THE BEAUTIFUL AND WILDLY PRIMITIVE STREAM
This Symbol speaks of building bridges between places, people and events in order to bring them together and to add cohesion to society. The “Bridge” implies strength, dependability and passage to other places. The bridge was built many years ago and it presents the ability to be able to reach back into time, to reflect on what was important then and what’s important now. Often these values are one and the same. Traditional ways of approaching things can lead to the best solutions. There is a linking of people, places and things with clarity. Note: the Galactic Center is on this degree. We need to act as bridges in order to truly create!
Keywords: Enduring elements from past traditions providing links with the modern day. Reverence for things of worth that stand as reminders of yesterday. Linking people, places and things with clarity. Connections with the “old country”, or past lives. Beautiful and inspiring landscapes. Getting in touch with people. Ever repeating journeys. Passages across the water. Permanence.
The Caution: Sticking with old and possibly outworn methods. No new ideas to resolve situations. Continually traveling the “tried and true” path without deviating.
Mercury is on Sagittarius 16: SEA GULLS FLY AROUND A SHIP LOOKING FOR FOOD
This Symbol shows situations of dependence and/or co-dependence. The “Sea Gulls” are looking for sustenance, a place of refuge perhaps, somewhere that’s a reliable source of food. This can imply situations such as social security, foundations that provide food and shelter for people, charities and benefits OR it can imply spongers, borrowers or people who dog others looking to see what they can gain from the things they discard or don’t want. The trick with this is; don’t look to others or have others look to you for opportunities and nourishment, for you may miss your chance of being creative and independent. Who’s looking for scraps? Are they worth it?
Keywords: Losing sight of alternative possibilities and going for the easy “feed”. Issues of dependence. Diminishing one’s essential worth while trying to please a specific need. Being opportunistic. Settling for the small things in life. Scalpers. Jettisoning scraps. Leftovers. The rewards and pitfalls of “meal tickets”. Issues of social security. The homeless.
The Caution: Waiting for scraps that may not even be worth it or may never come. Losing the opportunity to care for one’s self in an independent manner. Giving away one’s power. Being opportunistic at the expense of others. Being ripped off. People “kissing and running”. Users and abusers. Having satellites. Hovering for scraps.
Mercury symbolizes: Mind, thought, communication, memory, expression, intelligence. News, exchanges, chatting, conversations, short journeys, connections with others, telephones, emails, siblings, neighbors, the reasoning mind. Day-to-day activities. Cars, keys, small animals.
Venus is on Sagittarius 22: A CHINESE LAUNDRY
This Symbol pictures situations where people may not be taken seriously, are expected to perform in a stereotypical way or are shut away because of their culture, or language, or because of racial prejudice. In a “Chinese Laundry” people are often working very hard with little free time and expected to do the ‘dirty work’ for others for very little in return. Be careful not to shut yourself away as there can be the danger of closing your mind to other options, opportunities and possibilities. This can also picture situations where people are working closely together, speaking the same language, although here, too, there can still be alienation and loneliness.
Keywords: Restrictive expectations. Relations with others because of social duty. Performing tasks. Mediocrity, or the fear of it. Washing machines and dryers. Money and other laundering. Laws and legislation based on social and racial inequality. Issues of belonging. Cleaning up for others. The search for purity. Institutions that inhibit individuality. Convents. Stereotyping people. Work and the rewards it should bring.
The Caution: Giving in to prejudice. Self-inflicted inferiority. Being used. Issues of self respect. Confining stereotypes. Money laundering. Not taken seriously. Feeling trapped.
The Quest Degree for Venus is Sagittarius 23: A GROUP OF IMMIGRANTS FULFILLING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING A NEW COUNTRY
This Symbol shows finding a new way of life, a new country or nationality, or new place to live and raise a family. It shows the possibility and hope for better things and a new way of life. Whether you are an “Immigrant” or someone looking to move onto new territory, you need to be prepared to venture out into new adventures for the promise that’s offered. Once you’ve “Fulfilled the Requirements”, you can move into this brand new life and reap the rewards. There may need to be adjustments about the way one communicates one’s thoughts and ideas – be receptive to this new way of life and you’ll learn much. Re-orientation of self. Learning new languages or customs. Passing tests (or not). Asylum. Immigration. The Statue of Liberty. Papers. Qualifications. Refugees. Laws. Borders.
Keywords: Reorientation of selfhood. Needing to change things in order to accept a new reality. The necessity of learning new languages or customs to fit in. Visas, passports, papers. Illegal immigrants. Boat people. Customs officials and regulations. Baggage and luggage. Shipping. Qualifications and certifications. Identification. Asylum. Immigration officers. Papers and qualifications that include or exclude. Refugees. Laws. Borders. Ellis Island. Throwing away the known in pursuit of the unknown.
The Caution: Entering new situations with inflexible traditions. Issues of social or racial prejudice, or the suspicion of it. Red tape getting in the way of enjoying life. Those not living up to requirements. Not getting successfully through the paperwork. Being untrue to oneself in order to be accepted. Being rejected or sent back.
Venus symbolizes: Relatedness, cooperation, what attracts you. The experience of sweetness, beauty or delight. Social interactions, love, friends, how you reach out to people. Feminine persona, relationship with mother and females. Money, possessions, sense of values.
Mars is on Scorpio 6: A GOLD RUSH TEARS MEN AWAY FROM THEIR NATIVE SOIL
This Symbol shows the desire to strike out for new territories, new possibilities, new shores, in an attempt to stroke “Gold”; to find more money, a better life with more rewards, etc. The “Gold Rush” often tears people away from their usual environment, their homes, their country, their “Native soil”, looking for a better place. The temptation is to chase the promise of riches elsewhere. You may have a choice between stable, established situations and more unstable, exciting, temporary or risky situations. The actual promise of abundance in far away places is sometimes worth the effort of moving on, other times not. You might ‘strike gold’ or you may just find yourself a long way from home.
Keywords: Strong desires to move on. The longing and the search for the easy fulfillment of hopes and dreams. Leaving one’s native soil. Having a cause or mission to pursue. Leaving home, people, family. Dropping everything to chase a project. Pilgrimages. The search for riches. Immigration and migration. Listening to clues. The search for the Holy Grail. Pursuing a better life.
The Caution: Chasing the impossible dream. Losing everything. Being unrealistic or opportunistic. Not being content with what one’s got. The grass being greener elsewhere. Lusting after rewards that may be unreal or transitory. Risking what one has for what one could have. Wild goose chases. Exhausting journeys.
Mars symbolizes: Drive, determination or agenda, how you get to your goals. How you express and handle anger, ambition, assertion of self and ability to step forward. The male principle, sexuality, the ability to step up to the plate when one needs to. Fight or flight.
Jupiter is on Scorpio 15: CHILDREN PLAYING AROUND FIVE MOUNDS OF SAND
This shows “Children” at “Play”; enjoying in a natural setting. Nowadays, the true art of play has largely been forgotten or lost. We have the apparent need for more and more toys or gadgets in order to bring joy. Much is learnt through letting go and allowing your self to experience the joy found naturally in the company of others. You may have the potential for greater things, but don’t sometimes understand what they are. Development takes time and latent talent eventually leads to greater things. You will fulfill your potential, but you must start at the beginning. Joining with others helps as everyone brings their own creative talents – don’t hide yourself away.
Keywords: Creative integration of new ideals. Five being the number of mankind. The value of play in getting to know one another. Playgrounds. Crop circles. The desert. Throwing caution to the wind. Playing ‘hide and go seek’. Shifting sands. Rituals. American Indian rites. The love of the physical world. The five senses. Carefree and happy playgrounds and laughter. Pentacles. Witchcraft. Solomon’s Seal.
The Caution: Being too serious. Not seeing life’s light-hearted side. Not knowing how to play. Not committing to anything seriously. Brooding and hiding. Mourning over childhood lost.
Jupiter symbolizes: The big picture, expansion, exploration, aspirations, religious and philosophical ideals, issues to do with traveling, foreign lands, people and traditions, culture, education, generosity, luck, abundance, support, optimism. Insight through knowledge and wisdom.
Saturn is on Sagittarius 30: THE POPE BLESSING THE FAITHFUL
This Symbol shows being present, on-board and ‘there’ for people when they need it. The “Pope” instills hope and a sense of wonder; he is said to be a representative of God on earth. Blessings come from worshipping a higher power with people of like mind. This shows that people will dispense rewards upon those who are eager to receive from them. This often shows a spokesperson that will be heard by everyone. Show respect and reverence to others, as this will lead to rewards of their own. This can show someone having a powerful memory; they remember the faces and names of people and often have a powerful presence and charisma.
Keywords: Rituals of reverence, blessings and worship. Sincere interest in others. Being on the inside looking out or being on the outside looking in. Recognizing the source of enormous inner riches. Rewards for loyalty. Seeking support or recognition. Eye-toeye contact. Being remembered. Charisma and presence. Having an audience with someone.
The Caution: Overwhelming political or spiritual rituals. Lust for power. Negating, projecting and transferring one’s shadow onto others. Not taking responsibility for one’s actions. Begging people to dispense favors. Sucking up to be accepted or recognized. Manipulating for desired ends. Nervous reaction to power or position. Demanding obedience. Lording it over people. Leaving people out that don’t measure up or conform. Having people at one’s beck and call.
Saturn symbolizes: Authority, rules, discipline and obligation The heavy stuff. What we fear, loss, karma, aging, the establishment, orthodoxy, tradition, status, the concept of time, walls, boundaries, limits, older people, restrictions, patience, conquering difficulties.
Uranus is on Aries 25: A DOUBLE PROMISE REVEALS ITS INNER AND OUTER MEANINGS
This Symbol shows that what at first appears to be may reveal itself to actually be something else. Simple promises can be more complicated than first thought. The rational and emotional responses can conflict with each other; one wants something, the other wants something else. However, this can be the way to really view things, from an inner and outer perspective. Also indicates the choice that arises – of the heart and of social obligation. Realize the implications of expectations and promises.
Keywords: Rewards, but what do they bring with them? The possible implications of or reasons for any promises. Something that may look good on the outside, but prove to be difficult. Looking for consensus. Possibilities and promises. The ins and outs of situations. Not turning up. The need to look at situations from all sides. Internal vs. external realities. Catch-22 situations. Contracts.
The Caution: Fickleness, insincerity and two-facedness in human relationships. Expectations without clarification. Reversals of decisions or promises. Duplicity. Manipulating people in order to achieve outcomes. Promising more than can be delivered. Endeavours or projects that are not worth the effort. Lies and misleading statements. Having a hidden agenda. Momentary pledges that are soon forgotten. Contracts that bind.
Uranus symbolizes: The unexpected, things that are individual or ‘different’. Charged, energetic dynamics, electricity, light, lightning bolts, sudden changes, those who live on the fringe of society. Sudden turns and twists of fate. Rebellion, surprises, liberation, freedom.
Neptune is on Pisces 12: AN EXAMINATION OF INITIATES IN THE SANCTUARY OF AN OCCULT BROTHERHOOD
This Symbol shows passing the tests that life, other people, spirituality or karma throws at you. You are likely to find at times that you are being judged by those above or around you. It is difficult to see what their qualifications to judge you are, but this is often the nature of progression through the ranks. People being critical of one another can lead to better behavior, better performances or the like, or it can lead to feeling judged, violated and intruded upon. It can seem as though our lives are like lessons; we are periodically “Examined” to see how we are doing on our course. Be careful not to shut yourself away to avoid being seen or having to endure criticism.
Keywords: The ordeal that comes to any initiate for entrance into higher realms of being. Hermits. Tests, examinations, having to prove oneself. Being judged or being judgmental. Being crossexamined. Rarefied atmospheres that demand personal sacrifice. Initiations. Proving courage and purity. Trials. The attainment of knowledge. Apprenticeships. Being a candidate. Finding out how and where one fits in. One-eyed dedication. Trial by media. Cults. Rituals.
The Caution: Refusing advice. Arrogance. People saying “I told you so”. Invading other’s private space. Hiding away because of fear or social ridicule. Severe trials and tests that strip the joy of life. People assuming they know the truth about others. Fear of failure. Not living up to other’s expectations. Narrow mindedness. Harsh treatment. Going without.
Neptune symbolizes: Mystical, “out there,” spirituality and con artists. Dreams, mysteries, mystics and religious issues. Intuition, clairvoyance, seeing into the invisible. Addictive, chaotic, charming, deceptive, illusory, co dependent, sensory awareness.
Pluto is on Capricorn 19: A CHILD OF ABOUT FIVE CARRYING A HUGE SHOPPING BAG FILLED WITH GROCERIES
This Symbol shows having to “Carry” heavy loads, to shoulder responsibilities, do chores and jobs and help others, sometimes because there’s no one else who can or will do it. Often, the “Child” gets these responsibilities because they are the one who others know is going to take it seriously, completing the task, taking care of details. You may feel that you have been burdened with responsibilities beyond normal expectations and possibly beyond your capability. Despite being keen and enthusiastic, you must be careful not to try to take on too much, or do too much, or too quickly. Like a child, you need to play, be creative and rest.
Keywords: Being the one everyone counts on to do the job. Feeling weighed down. Having to carry the “bag”. Lifting heavy weights and bearing the consequences. Taking on things above and beyond what one should. Acting the grownup. Maturing quickly. Looking after paperwork. Running errands. Providing food and sustenance for everyone.
The Caution: Overloading the innocent and the inexperienced without thought of the consequences. Taking on too much. Not allowing for fun and carefree activities. Never being “off-duty”. Joint, back and shoulder problems. Growing up too fast. Having a serious attitude. Lack of childhood. Dropping the bundle. Carrying the family’s responsibilities.
Pluto symbolizes: Unconscious motivations, depth psychology, history. Sex, procreation at a deep level, intensity, profound emotions, taking hold of one’s power. Being king or queen of one’s underworld. Strength, survival mode instincts. Big money. Big power. The Plutocracy. Power vs power struggles.
Chiron is on Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD
This shows seeing through those who hold important positions yet abuse trust or those who make great claims but don’t live up to them. At this time, you’re likely to find yourself leaving others behind, kicking them out, or experiencing falls from grace. Periodically, there is a need to examine moral and spiritual sincerity. It is easy to allow those who don’t really belong to stay because of familiarity or habit. We can lose sight of the ideal through our rationalizing intellect, ego and emotive passion. There is a need to cleanse and purify your life, leading to better spiritual values. What side of the “Purging” are you on? Are you the one with the ‘right motives’? Who’s in charge?
Keywords: Revealing the truth of people for who and what they truly are. Cutting people off. Throwing out things that don’t measure up. Forced retirement and redundancies. Payouts at the end of employment. Dismissals. Opting out for moral reasons. Being fired. Holes left where someone took up a lot of space.
The Caution: Stressful battle over who’s in charge. Blackmail. The threat of being thrown out. Something being revealed. Evicting people because they deceive, lie or mislead or just because they’re not liked. Bringing somebody down. Scapegoating others. Corruption and scandal that threaten collapse. Wanting to appear to be doing the right thing. Coverups. The burning of books. Perversion.
Chiron symbolizes: Our wounds, Chiron is known as The Wounded Healer. The wounds are The Stories That We Tell Ourselves, it is where we have to focus on healing, it can show things that are out of shape or misplaced or in need of repair.
The Moon’s North Node is on Leo 16: BRILLIANT SUNSHINE JUST AFTER A STORM
This Symbol implies situations where storms come through one’s life on a periodic basis; sweeping away elements of life that have been clogging up situations, clearing the air and resolving issues. It also shows the ability to be able to pick one’s self up after some difficulty or crisis. The trick is to notice the gift of the brilliant sunshine as the clouds part and life takes on a calmer, happier tone. The worst is probably over and situations can resolve themselves; things dry out and recovery begins. There is probably always more cleaning up and work to be done, but one should enjoy the release and pleasure of the relief that follows a storm.
Keywords: The warmth of renewal. Things glistening with raindrops. Extremes. Recovery. Hallucinogenic drugs. Extreme weather, e.g. El Nino. Religious experiences. Brighter worlds. Optimistic feelings after hopes dashed. Relief and joy. The sun breaking through clouds. Overcoming crisis. The longing for rain to quench dryness. Floods of emotion. Negative ions bringing relief. Rainbows. Brilliant light that brings joy.
The Caution: Assuming that the storm will soon return. Being stuck in fear. Manic depression. Distorted viewpoints. Bouncing around from one emotion to another. Invoking arguments because of the reward of “making up”. Enjoyment of conflict. Plumbing problems. Refusing to move into the sunlight. Bi-polar behaviour. On-off behaviour.
The Moon’s North Node symbolizes: This is known as quite a ‘karmic point’ (although all planets and points in a chart can be’karmic’). One’s destiny in this life. The things you are meant to integrate, move towards, become. Destined relationships and relationship issues can show up here.
The Moon’s South Node is on Aquarius 16: A BIG-BUSINESSMAN AT HIS DESK
This shows organizing things, running a business, attending to paperwork or generally being very much in charge. A “Big-Businessman” is someone who isn’t afraid to make decisions, take calculated risks, or work often and long for the rewards it brings. It is a fairly big job to organize a business or group and keeping tabs on all that’s going. Being professional and organized brings rewards. However, it can mean putting limits on your personal life. This can result in alienation – particularly if you have to stay behind or say no to outings. Are you living the way that is best for your future, your relationships and physical well being?
Keywords: Issues of being happy in one’s career. Making decisions. Management. Being in charge and in control. Calling the shots. The head rules the heart. Delegating duties or jobs. Economic rationalism. Sorting paperwork. Corporations. Keeping a diary. Striking a balance between having a life and doing all that needs to be done. Desks, telephones, computers, faxes, etc. Details and more details.
The Caution: Taking advantage. Bossing others. Shoving people around. Getting depressed about work. Always being “on the job”. Talking about money and business constantly. Greediness. Exploiting people and events for personal gain. Having difficulty retiring. The removal of the “little people”. Not doing the paperwork. Brushes with the law.
The Moon’s South Node symbolizes: Past karmic patterns to be overcome, can be habits that are good, but can describe things, relationships, issues that you need to let go of, or, hold you back from manifesting your true destiny. Relationships that feel karmic and difficult, memories from the past.
