October’s new Moon in Libra occurs on October 8 in the US, and, the 9th in Australia. This is, as with so many of the recent lunations, a major new Moon, especially as Venus is going retrograde now, and, in Scorpio. We are about to descend into a archetypal “forty days and forty nights” of revisioning Venus. We can see ‘the feminine’ arising everywhere, as we have for some time, but, especially now. Women’s rights and the abuses of women are coming more and more to light. It is such a powerful time bringing up the inequalities between women and men. It’s a time of careful combing through gender issues, especially as Venus (stationary retrograde, and, moving very slowing at the moment) is exactly squaring Mars, which is just now coming out of the shadow period Mars recent retrograde in Aquarius. That is an amazing synchronistic thing for Venus to be going retrograde square the degree that Mars went retrograde. It’s all happening.
So, we have the ruler of this Libran new Moon, Venus, going retrograde. One could say, with recent political and social happenings, that Venus is under siege. But, of course, in many ways, the feminine has been under siege for centuries. Perhaps, no definitely, this is a time of breakthroughs for the feminine. However, with the current planetary goings on, I think it might come at a bit of a cost as people argue and bicker while our freedoms are continually undermined.
It’s an amazing time in society, and, many changes are on the cards, and many are imminent. But, ‘gender wars’ are certainly to be avoided, as much as possible, especially with the current climate. In some cases, whether we’re male or female) we may have to walk away from those who don’t honour us, or, those who are on a different journey. This can be a time of deep realisation, not only about others, or events, or situations, but, of ourselves and our desires and motivations, etc. It is a great time of awakening, and, as always but particularly now, it’s a great time to really observe ourselves, our values, our relationships, our views and opinions about life.
The really big aspect of this new Moon, though, is the square from Pluto, especially considering the Sabian Symbols involved. The new Moon is at Libra 16, the Rebuilding After The Storm degree, and, in the few hours and days following the new Moon, first the Moon and then the Sun will transit over Libra 18: TWO MEN PLACED UNDER ARREST ARE BROUGHT BEFORE THE TRIBUNAL OF SOCIETY TO GIVE AN ACCOUNTING FOR THEIR ACTIONS, and, Libra 19: A GANG OF ROBBERS IN HIDING. So, a lot more is likely to come to light in the wake of the new Moon. Just who is going to be ‘brought before the tribunal’ is unclear at the moment, but, of course, it doesn’t have to be ‘two men’ at all, it can be that the ongoing arguments and issues that we see politically (mostly in the US at present, but, no doubt worldwide in many ways) will continue to be debated and argued. In fact, the arguing on social media about politics is one of the ways that people can be ‘under arrest’. We arrest ourselves by spending time arguing about things without really changing ‘the others’ minds. Still, it helps to voice our frustrations, as otherwise we are silenced. Of course, the ‘gang of robbers’ can be our own mental projections, our own mind-sets, our own inability to find peace in amongst the maelstrom.
Another part of this ‘awakening’ is Uranus and Mercury in opposition. The energies of this aspect build for a few days after the exact time of the new Moon, bringing us further insights, revelations and realisations. We might find it difficult to sleep, or, turn the monkey chatter of the mind off. We might have to respond to things arising quickly. We may have to keep a close rein on our reactions and emotions.
In amongst it all is a far degree of confusion as Neptune is quincunx this new Moon (I call the quincunx ‘the itch that is difficult to scratch’). Neptune is on a degree that can have us running around in circles, upset about things that perhaps should not really upset us, scams, hoaxes on Facebook, not seeing the forest for the trees, not feeling at all in alignment with others, or, reality. Of course, not everyone will be confused, or, feeling out of alignment, but, many are.
And, the Moon’s nodes are moving into a closer t-square with Uranus. Associations, relationships, jobs, living arrangements, etc, are all up for revisions. Some people will be moving away from even those things in their lives that have been long-standing.
Keeping a calm and positive frame of mind is really important, always, but, especially now. And, many might be feeling depressed, angry, upset, generally worn out – this is magnified with Mercury moving into an opposition to Uranus. Especially as Mercury is on Libra 27 in the lead-up to the new Moon. What a degree for ‘the dark of the Moon’ period. Believe in your angels… the Karmic Condition of Mercury at this new Moon – Libra 27: A MAN ALONE IN DEEP GLOOM. UNNOTICED, ANGELS ARE COMING TO HIS AID.
It feels like a time for revolution. Time to really make our thoughts and voices heard.

New Moon: Oct 9, 2018 3:46 am GMT
The new Moon is on Libra 16: AFTER A STORM, A BOAT LANDING STANDS IN NEED OF RECONSTRUCTION – the following is my interpretation from my book –The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom
Commentary: ‘After the Storms of Winter, a Boat Landing Stands in Need of Reconstruction’. A ‘Storm’ has swept through and damaged, or ruined, some usually secure part of life. The ‘Boats’ cannot dock at the ‘Boat Landing’ if it is destroyed or shaky or insecure. Situations, possessions and people may be compromised, or even ruined. Our foundations can be rocked almost to the point of complete destruction. Now there’s the need for ‘Reconstruction’.
Oracle: In the situation facing you, there needs to be a plan put into action to get things repaired so that life can move on. Even situations built on solid foundations can quickly be swept away by the tidal forces of emotion or life’s circumstances. ‘After the Storms of Winter’ implies that there is a need to take stock of what’s happened. Rebuilding and restructuring is timely and probably very necessary. When there is “nowhere to dock” your life or emotions, it can take time to recover your feet and get things back under control. You may have to ‘Reconstruct’ some usually secure part of your life, but in the future you’ll be wiser and you’ll build something stronger. Rebuilding some area of your life will require patience, commitment, faith and a sense of security and purpose. Sometimes, through facing devastation, we can truly come to grips with our own power. Without positive attitudes, and a reinforced attitude, the ‘Reconstruction’ may, at best, be shaky or temporary. You may ask whether ‘The Storms of Winter’ have really finished and warmer conditions can be expected or trusted. Picking yourself up and rebuilding after some harrowing or dangerous collision with reality can lead to a better, stronger and safer sense of where you can feel safe and harbored.
Keywords: Temporary loss. Emotional repair. Tools to repair damage and build a new life. Having faith that the worst is over and recovery can begin. Calling in the experts. Taking time to put the pieces back together. Working to ensure the safety of the community. Insurance claims. The fragility of man’s world in the face of nature. Returning to work.
The Caution: Making excuses instead of fixing things. Feeling emotionally swamped and powerless. Being torn apart. Leaving things a mess. Feeling shot to pieces. Letting things wear down to the point of collapse. Having nowhere to dock. Arguments and violence.
Mercury is on Libra 29: MANKIND’S VAST ENDURING EFFORT FOR KNOWLEDGE TRANSFERABLE FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION
This Symbol speaks of handing knowledge down through the ages so that the wisdom and teaching are not lost and people in successive generations may benefit from studying or knowing it. There is, or needs to be, an outreaching to others through awareness with this degree. Of course, there is always more to wisdom than just knowing; it’s what’s done with knowledge that creates wisdom. It is through knowledge and understanding that we can bridge the gap between ourselves and others and ensure that valuable lessons and insights are available to all.
Keywords: Interpreting and conveying beliefs and ideas. The desire to pass on something to others. Handing down possessions or knowledge. Knowledge being changed, modified or updated. Teaching by example. The wisdom of the ancestors. Research into history. Striving for answers. Books and the spoken word. Encyclopedias and reference books. The gift of knowledge. By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong. Charles Wadsworth

This Symbol shows the ability, or the necessity, of helping others, being on hand when they need it and rescuing and bringing a sense of life back to people. It can show a rescuing nature; a counselor, therapist, life saver, etc. Of course, it can be that you need “Rescuing” in some way, whether it’s through counseling, getting a much needed loan, or having stress and strain lifted so that you can breathe freely again. This symbol often shows someone overpowered or overcome by their inability to cope emotionally .Often we feel like we are being suffocated, by our marriage, job, friendships, life path or the lack of these things. Salvation on any level. Ventilators. Breathing equipment. Oxygen. Dependence. Last minute reprieves. Born again experiences. Help.

The Karmic Degree for retrograde Venus is Scorpio 10: A FELLOWSHIP SUPPER REUNITES OLD COMRADES
This Symbol shows getting together with people with shared visions and histories which can be very rewarding and renewing. A “Fellowship Supper” can help connect with old friends, or provide a place for meeting new ones. Often with this degree, issues around food come up, whether it’s providing food and drink or sharing it with others. It’s important to find time to socialize with like-minded people as true friendships can come from simple gatherings. Also, there can often be the sense that one’s known people before, on a karmic level, or, stretching back into a past life. True fellowship and fraternity can bring a sweet sense of nostalgia and uplift to each individual’s life.

The Quest Degree for Venus retrograde is Scorpio 12: A BRILLIANT ASSEMBLY OF OFFICIALS AT AN OFFICIAL EMBASSY BALL
This Symbol implies the ability to mix with people from all over the world, to talk in different kinds of languages or travel in the circles of the elite. There’s probably an issue about being invited to the ‘right’ functions or that you’re sure of being on the list of those who gather to make decisions or call the shots. Enjoying social situations can be rewarding on many levels, however, the conditions may sometimes be caged in rather strict protocol and rules of behavior that you and others have to adhere to. Look at yourself and observe whether you are being your natural self or putting on a show for others. This can imply social climbing and political strategies.

Mars is now back on the degree that it turned retrograde on – Aquarius 10: A PERSON WHO HAD FOR A TIME BECOME THE EMBODIMENT OF AN IDEAL IS MADE TO REALIZE THAT AS A PERSON THEY ARE NOT THIS IDEAL
This shows the need to recognize, or realize, when conditions are changing or when there’s a need to work on your self or your image. This can imply having the ‘scales fall from your eyes’ about someone; you may have thought the world of them and then they are not the person you thought. You could wake up realizing that you’re not who or what you said or thought you were. Relationships may be left behind. The revelation can be amazing, but it requires accurately assessing what is and what isn’t the “Ideal”. Popular support does not always equate with depth of character and self-worth. Be wary of fleeting opportunities and committing before you understand what you’re dealing with.
Keywords: Staying true to oneself. Ideas that look great for a time, but lose their gloss. Lost opportunities. Waking up just in time. Depression. Self-esteem issues. Projections of personality. One can see a “Flag” and salute it – or not. It usually depends on what the flag signifies. Your ideas, ideals, gifts, talents, inventions, realizations are all your “Flag”. To release these into the environment is the “Turning Into an Eagle”; taking off and flying allows the energy to be released. The Quest Degree for Mars is Aquarius 11: DURING A SILENT HOUR, A PERSON RECEIVES A NEW INSPIRATION WHICH MAY CHANGE THEIR LIFE
This speaks of noticing those moments of “Inspiration” that come through you and act to move, inspire, propel or goad you into changing your life. Taking time out, having a “Silent Hour”, even if it’s just five minutes, can regularly bring you new ideas, solutions and breakthroughs. You could find that despite racking your brain there has been no rational guidance. Slowing down and opening up to the message of your inner inspiration can bring huge shifts in your life. The rational mind can be noisy and interfere with the flow of intuition. A new inspiration is coming, one that may change your life. Be still and listen! rnWelling creative power. This implies having a message or the voice that others flock to in order to listen. Whether you are the “One Inspired Person”, or someone in the audience, you may feel that you have had some wonderful realizations after hearing inspired messages, from within yourself or from an external source, and now you need to bring these lessons or understandings down to an everyday level in order to integrate them into everyday life. People will have different responses to the messages given. Not all will be responsive, but the message will resonate with those that are meant to hear it. What will be done with this information and how far will it spread?

The Quest Degree for Jupiter is Scorpio 25: AN X RAY PHOTOGRAPH HELPS WITH THE DIAGNOSIS
This Symbol shows being able to see into areas or realms that others generally don’t take any notice of. You may find yourself looking for a deeper understanding of situations and you need to peel away the layers in order to get to the truth of the matter. You may need to employ both the emotions and the intellect. Ask yourself: what do you want to find and what is being done to reveal the structure or the nitty gritty of situations? Looking inside for clues. Being able to see through layers into the reality of things helps you to be able to make a “Diagnosis” – dia which means “by”, and gnosis which means “knowledge”

This degree shows journeying with others. Each person brings with them their individual stories, their needs and wants. They come together to accomplish something, to set out for somewhere. To embark on a journey with a number of people is to embark on an emotional discovery, along with learning the rules of society about interacting with others. With cooperation, and everyone heading in the same direction, there can be great success. You may find episodes when different and separate aspects of your personality come together to explore where you’re going. The trick is, are you all headed in the same direction?

The Quest Degree for Saturn is Capricorn 5: INDIANS – SOME ROWING A CANOE WHILE OTHERS ARE DANCING A WAR DANCE
This degree shows the need to bring stability and calm to situations, whilst continuing to “Row” in the direction you’re meant to go. Sometimes we’re just rowing our boat and someone wants to upset it, or, they are in our environment trying to drum up trouble or antagonize others. This shows the choice: row the boat or be on the defensive. Someone may solve situations with aggression. However, at the right time, showing one’s strength can work in your favor. Aggression isn’t really the answer, but, to make a show of your position and the effort you will make to defend it, will ultimately win respect. Keep rowing, and head towards your desired destination.

Storms unleash all kinds of energy; there is tension and a breaking point imminent, but the cleansing deluge is held back while the power of the situation seems to take control. You may feel like you have no influence over what is being unleashed. If you can keep a cool head, the energy will dissipate and you will regain control. Brilliant flashes of insight and intuition can come with this energy and things can happen suddenly and sometimes unpredictably.

Neptune is retrograde on Pisces 15: AN OFFICER DRILLING HIS MEN IN A SIMULATED ATTACK
This shows being well rehearsed, prepared and ready for anything that life throws at you. When you’re well rehearsed, you are able to spring to attention when situations warrant it. You may feel that you need to rehearse or prepare for difficult situations. There is wisdom in practicing to reduce the chance of error or failure. However, are you going over and over possible positive or negative outcomes thereby losing the joy that can be found in relaxing and letting down your guard? Often, the “Child” gets these responsibilities because they are the one who others know is going to take it seriously, completing the task, taking care of details. You may feel that you have been burdened with responsibilities beyond normal expectations and possibly beyond your capability. This shows being able to envision or decide what you want to be and as you grow and develop, becoming that vision. The “Boy” lived in childhood under a hill figure of a president and when he grew up he became a president himself. You may find that you are growing into the image that you have imagined and it gives you a sense of pride – assuming you have chosen a positive image. What or who do you “Idealize”? What is it that you’d like to become? What image would you like to project? Meditating on a goal or the projection of an ideal can lead to actuality. Just be clear about what you really desire in the situation – you just might get it.

The Moon’s North Node is on Leo 4: A MAN FORMALLY DRESSED STANDS NEAR TROPHIES HE BROUGHT BACK FROM A HUNTING EXPEDITION
This Symbol speaks of awards and trophies and displaying what one is capable of or what’s been achieved or won. Putting on your best and showing people what you’re made of is great, but it is one thing to achieve something and yet another to display one’s achievements for all to see. There may be an urge to impress others, but some people will be very impressed whilst others may be distinctly unimpressed. Think carefully of the effects before you proclaim your winnings or awards or show what you have conquered, but don’t hide your light either! Remember; trophies come in all shapes and sizes.
Keywords: Trophies of conquest. The desire to show oneself. Proving one’s animal instincts for the benefit of social position. Displays of manliness. The spoils of daring and courage.
