February’s new Moon falls on February 4 in the United States, and, February 5 in Australia. This is a rather interesting new Moon in that it doesn’t have a lot of aspects, therefore, it is quite unlike a lot of the lunations we’ve had over the last several months. In fact, the Dark Moon Lilith seems to be taking a starring role as it’s conjunct (together with) this new Moon, and, Mercury. So, issues to do with the feminine are likely to be front and center.
A theme emerging from this new Moon seems to be one of the feminine, yes, but, also, children. Jupiter in Sagittarius (see below) is highlighting some of the more ‘interesting’ Sagittarian ‘child degrees’. (It’s curious: I was saying to someone the other day that one would not normally think of Sagittarius as being a sign of issues to do with children, but, out of all the signs, it has more children Symbols than any other sign).
Another theme is that Chiron is about to go into Aries. It’s hanging on that last degree of Pisces right now, asking us ‘who or what we want to be when we grow up’… that seems to be a big issue around Pisces 30 – what is your vision of your place in the world? As Chiron goes into Aries, I think we’ll see our ideas and visions becoming clearer. Certainly it could feel like a rebirth of some sort. It’s bound to be an interesting time, especially after Uranus has transited through Aries and is soon going back into Taurus (it dipped into Taurus for a short while last year).

The new Moon each month marks a time of new beginnings and realisations. It’s like a birth after a time of gestation or being ‘in the womb’. Here, the light begins to return and we can see new beginnings and possibilities. A new Moon means that the Sun and the Moon are both together – bringing a synergy of their energies together. The new Moon is a perfect time to set your intentions for the future. This period is wonderful for planting seeds of whatever kind. What do you want to manifest in your future? Whether you write it down, sing about it or just hold the thought forms in your mind, doing this at the new Moon can realise some fabulous results around the things that you want to draw into your life
New Moon: Feb 4, 2019 9:02 pm GMT
The new Moon is on Aquarius 16: A BIG-BUSINESSMAN AT HIS DESK – the following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom
Commentary: ‘A Big Businessman at His Desk’ reflects the need for organization, power and leadership. As the ‘Businessman’ is seen as being ‘Big’, he probably has much to look after; details, finances, paperwork, possibly for a large business or group. He can’t truly be successful if he doesn’t have control over the various aspects of his work life. ‘His Desk’ must be in order and he needs a healthy command of his sphere of operations.
Oracle: This Symbol implies the need to feel confident and able to operate efficiently in the ‘Business’ world. Sometimes ‘Business’ takes up so much time in our lives that we forget to unwind and talk and think about anything else. How often and for how long does one have to be ‘At His Desk’? Are ‘Business’ considerations more important than home and family or health? Someone in this situation may be unable to get directly involved in life, but have to stay behind and attend to details and do the organizing. Feeling ‘Big’, confident, assured and proud of one’s achievements can lead to expanded feelings about what one is capable of doing and contributing. Someone may have to stand up and declare what is and isn’t desirable, ethical or possible. Emotional reactions may be out of place here; employing a rational manner may be what’s needed to resolve things. Then again, emotions may not be playing any part and maybe that’s the issue. Perhaps someone is being rather cold and possibly cut-off in the pursuit of their objectives. This Symbol asks: Are you organized, or do you have a huge mess piling up in your life? Are you taking notice of necessary details? Are you living your life the way you think is best for your future, your relationships and physical well being? Perhaps there’s a need for more creativity, more time for your emotional and spiritual life. After all, allowing creative and emotional energy to flow will most likely increase your business success.
Keywords: Issues of being happy in one’s career. Making decisions. Management. Being in charge and in control. Calling the shots. The head rules the heart. Delegating duties or jobs. Economic rationalism. Sorting paperwork. Corporations. Keeping a diary. Striking a balance between having a life and doing all that needs to be done. Desks, telephones, computers, faxes, etc. Details and more details.
The Caution: Taking advantage. Bossing others. Shoving people around. Getting depressed about work. Always being “on the job”. Talking about money and business constantly. Greediness. Exploiting people and events for personal gain. Having difficulty retiring. The removal of the “little people”. Not doing the paperwork. Brushes with the law..
The Karmic Degree for the Moon is Aquarius 15: TWO LOVEBIRDS SITTING ON A FENCE AND SINGING HAPPILY
This shows the need to enjoy relationships, to share in the joy and camaraderie that can come from being part of a couple, or enjoying your friends and their relationships. “Singing” and making statements about love can bring happiness to those nearby and lift the spirits of all involved. There may be a feeling of contentment, pleasure, commitment and enjoyment of your partnership. However, is this really based on taking an uninvolved or non-committed position – “Sitting on a Fence”? Perhaps you find it difficult to actually commit one way or the other. To choose invites risks of separation, but conviction probably eventually needs to be chosen or rejected.
Keywords: Faith in love. Waiting for signs. Friendship and companionship. Issues of “that’s them and this is us”. Fences, borders and barriers. Showing love for all to see. Commitment to relationship. Mating for life. The need for honest communications. Singing. Speaking one’s truth.
The Caution: Sitting on the fence. Complaining about relationships. Waiting to see what the others do. Being stuck when one would rather fly off and be free. Having a fixed position. Not wanting to comply with the other. Neighborhood disputes. Noises from next door. Boasting of happiness.
The Quest Degree for the Moon is Aquarius 17: A WATCHDOG STANDING GUARD, PROTECTING HIS MASTER AND HIS POSSESSIONS
This shows “Protecting” one’s people or boundaries, to be a “Watchdog Standing Guard”. This can be a tiring responsibility, but one that has you feeling you belong and contribute to the safety and wellbeing of your loved ones, or perhaps those you work for. If not handled well, you may feel unsafe at times, needing to be alert to signs of trouble. This can be a good thing, but it can lead to paranoid behavior where you can’t relax. Enlisting the support of trusted and loyal supporters may help, but you probably also need some self assurance. Watch out for false feelings of intrusion or betrayal.
Keywords: Guardianship. Things that stand guard and protect. Being on the alert against invasion or other trouble. Loyalty, possessiveness. Jealousy. The worry of loss. Alarm and security systems. Locks. Watchdogs. Being afraid of intrusion. Survival instincts. Bouncers and musclemen. Security guards. Constantly checking up. Sudden responses. Having one’s ear to the ground for danger.
The Caution: Suspicion and paranoia that rob the joy of ownership. Being unable to let down one’s guard because of the possibility of invasion or attack. Feelings of being exposed. Possible betrayal. Greed. Envy. Lust for power. Having others do “the dirty work”. Stool pigeons. Spying. Stooges. Being the fall guy. Worrying endlessly about loss. Resenting intrusion. Jealousy.
The Moon symbolizes: Emotions, moods, mother, family, clan, domestic issues, relationship to home and country. Feelings, sentiments, nourishment, emotional nurturing, monkey chatter mind, lunar and menstrual cycles, clarity of emotions or lunacy. Female energy – yours and others.
Mercury is on Aquarius 20: A LARGE WHITE DOVE BEARING A MESSAGE
This Symbol brings solace, comfort and joy to those who need help. “A Large White Dove” brings messages, possibly ones you’ve been waiting for for some time. You may need to resolve your situation by relying on peaceful messages that come from your spiritual center. They should be offered with gentleness and without malice. It can indicate either being seen as a savior or one who needs saving as you will at times be the one “Bearing a Message” at other times receiving it. Whichever side you’re on, there can be relief once you’ve been able to assimilate the message that’s being revealed.
Keywords: Being seen as a savior or one who needs saving. Blessings delivered-all will be well. Celebration. Somebody who brings blessed relief. Issues of hope and salvation. The Covenant. News. Announcements. Peace movements. The Rainbow Warrior. Utopian idealism. Olive branches.
The Caution: Staying with the assumption that things will never improve. Refusing solace. Shooting the messenger. Not trusting the good things in life. Not being content with any message that’s relayed. Insincere messages caused by the pain of not facing the real truth.
The Quest Degree for Mercury is Aquarius 21: A WOMAN DISAPPOINTED AND DISILLUSIONED, COURAGEOUSLY FACING THE FUTURE – the Dark Moon Lilith is also on this degree now.
This Symbol shows the need, to be “Courageous” in the face of “Disappointment” or Disillusionment”. The “Woman” may have always thought things would be different but one day she wakes up to find that her dreams have not born fruit, at least not as yet. There can be feelings of wasting energy, and thoughts of failure, but being strong and vigilant against negative thoughts can turn situations around. It always helps to look on disappointment as a teacher. There’s always hope that things will get better. Reconnect with what is available and possible, and, although it requires courage, we always return with greater wisdom and understanding.
Keywords: Breaking through illusions. Facing stark reality with hope. Loneliness and depression overcome. Positive outlooks. Counting one’s blessings. Looking towards the future. Finding nothing to be happy about. Feeling deserted and alone. Not letting go of the past. Injuries. Infertility. Incurable “dis-eases”. Unrequited love. The loss of the partner. Staring into space. Being a sad, old person.

Venus is on Capricorn 2: THREE STAINED-GLASS WINDOWS IN A GOTHIC CHURCH, ONE DAMAGED BY WAR
This shows the need to have a strong sense of self, a strong constitution or a clear sense of belief in the goodness of the world. This pictures the need to stay strong under the barrage of bombardment. One of the three corners of unity, in this case the one of love, is damaged and separated by the aggressive nature of mankind. With the shattering (the “Damage”) of the “Window”, there is often a loss of faith, hope and trust. Acceptance of love can lead to a healing on many levels. As Leonard Cohen says “there is a crack, a crack in everything. That’s where the light gets in”.
Keywords: Seeking sanctuary. Careless aggression where love should be. Religious or philosophical differences that spark off problems. Fears of being “under attack” whilst in the spotlight. Sorrow and despair over losses. Loss of faith. ‘Windows’ that are cracked, broken or smashed. Cracks and shattering. Rescue of endangered holy places. Loss of love through harsh circumstance. The need for repair.
The Caution: Feeling disconnected. A feeling of being ‘under attack’. Fear-based lectures and sermons. Terrorism in all its forms. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. Shell shocked..
The Quest Degree for Venus is Capricorn 3: THE HUMAN SOUL, IN ITS EAGERNESS FOR NEW EXPERIENCES, SEEKS EMBODIMENT
This Symbol shows being open and receptive to the messages of the world around you, as there is an expansion into a new understanding and a new way of life. Writing is an excellent way for the “Soul” to “Seek Embodiment”. Also there can be issues to do with one’s body. There can be many times of quiet; of inner contemplation and outer observance. Regardless of your more immediate, physical circumstances, there is an evolution of understanding going on. Unbounded enthusiasm is likely to be around. It may be useful to keep a diary or to write things down. Extraordinary events can happen with this degree.
Keywords: Inner motivation leading to expansion. Jesus and his disciples. Being “born” quickly. Manifesting one’s desires without concern for consequences. Being “born again”. Mars is on Aries 24: AN OPEN WINDOW AND A NET CURTAIN BLOWING INTO THE SHAPE OF A CORNUCOPIA
This Symbol shows that your mind is, or should be, open to possibilities that are being ‘blown’ in from the realm of spirit. There is an abundance coming, shown by the Cornucopia, which will be self-sustaining. This degree suggests that with the slightest change in direction your fortunes could change as well. Look for out-of-the-ordinary opportunities and possibilities. Realizing that in one’s everyday life, one has it all. Open your windows and blinds and let air and sunshine in and watch good things follow.
Keywords: Imagination. Keeping your options open. The promise of fruition. The breath of life filled with inspiration. Realizing that in everyday life, one has it all. Windows of opportunity. Gain, abundance, riches. Spiritual energies pouring in. Concentrated energy. Seeing desires taking shape. Curtains and windows.

This Symbol shows being on the alert for intrusion and danger in your life and in the lives of those in your care, whether they are your own children or the children or youngsters of others. At times in your life, you may feel that conditions are changing and you and your family or friends don’t feel safe. You may need to move to a new situation which will provide more nourishment, safety and security and less danger. This can refer to an inner withdrawal; not wanting to watch the news, listen to bad information or thoughts and can happen on any level: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Keywords: Concerns with survival. The endeavor to achieve mental, physical or emotional well-being or peace. Noise and other irritants that make life difficult. The Karmic Degree for Jupiter is Sagittarius 18: TINY CHILDREN PLAYING IN SUNBONNETS
This degree speaks of providing protection for youngsters and children, giving them safety and security and sheltering from the harsher aspects of life. It may, at times, be a tiring responsibility as you have to be watchful for slip ups when the protection may fall away – leaving those that should feel shielded open to the elements and the damaging aspects of the environment and society. At times, people can be overprotected, but it is most likely for their own good. Don’t be distracted by efforts being made on your behalf; sometimes we need to be shielded by others from harmful elements. Remember to play and have fun, but don’t let people hoodwink you or pull the wool over your eyes.
Keywords: Care taken with small beginnings. Protection or blinkering? Propaganda that hides more severe life realities. Censorship. Innocence. Being treated like a child. Mollycoddling. Sunblocks and sunscreens. Screens that filter.
The Caution: Overprotection by institutionalized procedures that can lead to not being able to see the whole picture. “Organized religion” and it’s blinding of society to the true joy within and without. Infantile behavior. Being left in the dark without a clue as to what’s going on. Naivety. Being overshadowed by ego. Abuse and neglect.
Jupiter symbolizes: The big picture, expansion, exploration, aspirations, religious and philosophical ideals, issues to do with traveling, foreign lands, people and traditions, culture, education, generosity, luck, abundance, support, optimism. Insight through knowledge and wisdom.
Saturn is on Capricorn 16: SCHOOL GROUNDS FILLED WITH BOYS AND GIRLS IN GYMNASIUM SUITS
This degree shows being vibrant and alive and in the physical body with enthusiasm and excitement about life and the future. The “Gymnasium Suits” shows the need to get active and to stay active, to have time in your life to drop into the physical body and enjoy it. If you’ve been neglecting your physical well-being, it is good to reestablish that affinity with your vitality. Spontaneous enthusiasm and the joy of being ‘alive’ can regenerate and revive and bring about carefree contact with like minded people. The trick is to bring some form of physical discipline into your life while enjoying it and not feeling forced to do what you don’t want to do.
Keywords: Developing muscular coordination. Sexual energy, attraction or satisfaction. Playing, marching, competition, rivalry. Singing songs of unity. New anthems for the young. Savor the lessons that come and know that everything happens in its own time and you’ll grow in wisdom. ‘The Music of the Spheres’ can show attuning to the messages of astrology, numerology, mathematics and science. Sing, tune into the planets, listen to music, dance and celebrate life.

Neptune is on Pisces 16: IN A QUIET MOMENT, A CREATIVE INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCES THE FLOW OF INSPIRATION
This shows quietening the mind, spending time in “Quiet’ contemplation, allowing for the “Flow of Inspiration”. Inspiration is a stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity. You’ll find the flow of inspiration coming through if you allow it to and the more creative you allow yourself to be, the more inspiration will be in the messages. You may find that with each idea or creative inspiration there follows another and another. This signifies taking time to relax and go with the flow neither fighting against nor pushing forward. Closed minds and fixed attitudes will not help.
Keywords: Creativity inspired from above. Openness to higher forces and ideals. Realizations. Dreams. Channeling thoughts and feelings. Messages from one’s higher self. Finding solutions. The Karmic Degree for Neptune is Pisces 15: AN OFFICER DRILLING HIS MEN IN A SIMULATED ATTACK
This shows being well rehearsed, prepared and ready for anything that life throws at you. When you’re well rehearsed, you are able to spring to attention when situations warrant it. You may feel that you need to rehearse or prepare for difficult situations. There is wisdom in practicing to reduce the chance of error or failure. However, are you going over and over possible positive or negative outcomes thereby losing the joy that can be found in relaxing and letting down your guard? Sometimes the things we think are going to happen don’t happen at all. Choosing where, when and how to be ready and willing to go for objectives is half the battle.
Keywords: Taking orders to better respond to situations. The higher self training the lower self. Exercises. Marching and going through the motions. The need for defence. Seeing ahead. Planning strategies. Fire drills. Smoke alarms. Being prepared. Issuing orders and expecting them to be followed through. Discipline. Martial arts of all kinds. Going over and over possible outcomes. Pluto is on Capricorn 22: A GENERAL ACCEPTING DEFEAT GRACEFULLY
This Symbol shows being able to see where and when to “Accept” that things are not working and letting go of events or people or thoughts that no longer work for you. There’s times when we realize there is no longer any point in fighting and to ‘win’ in some situations may be impossible. At the time of surrender, it is the valor of the battle and the way you handled it that will be remembered. Sometimes, it is how gracefully you handle defeat that will be the measure. You will go onto other endeavors and win. You don’t always have to “Accept Defeat”: sometimes you have to accept your own victories.
Keywords: True inner worth. Being a “good loser”. Learning that every minor skirmish in life is not a major ‘Defeat’. Being prepared to start again. Sacrificing things for the benefit of others. Nobility of character. Letting go of the “charge” around anger. Surrendering. Knowing when to let go.

Chiron is on Pisces 30: A MAJESTIC ROCK FORMATION RESEMBLING A FACE IS IDEALIZED BY A BOY WHO TAKES IT AS HIS IDEAL OF GREATNESS, AND AS HE GROWS UP, BEGINS TO LOOK LIKE IT
This shows being able to envision or decide what you want to be and as you grow and develop, becoming that vision. The “Boy” lived in childhood under a hill figure of a president and when he grew up he became a president himself. You may find that you are growing into the image that you have imagined and it gives you a sense of pride – assuming you have chosen a positive image. What or who do you “Idealize”? What is it that you’d like to become? What image would you like to project? Meditating on a goal or the projection of an ideal can lead to actuality. The Moon’s North Node is on Cancer 27: A FURIOUS STORM IN A RESIDENTIAL CANYON FILLED WITH VALUABLE HOMES
This Symbol implies that you may find yourself much deeper in situations than you had planned, but you find yourself restrained by the walls about you and the turbulence happening in and around you. Strong emotions or events may be unleashed and there may be no escape from the turbulence that is around. The best thing to do is wait it out and protect your self the best you can. In fact, endeavoring to contain the energy could result in more damage. Things will settle down and peace will reign once more. Arguments and emotional confrontations emerge as a result of the ‘pressure cooker’ environments in modern-day living.
Keywords: Arguments and emotional confrontations. The “pressure cooker” environments of modern-day living. Psychic energy unleashed. Furious emotions. Changing the status quo. The Moon’s South Node is on Capricorn 27: A MOUNTAIN PILGRIMAGE
This Symbol shows being able to climb high, to rise to occasions, perform well, have a mission and, probably most importantly, to embark on spiritual journeys. Many people travel, but more often than not it implies a spiritual striving; an ascent in consciousness and the ability to transcend earthier, more immediate matters. There is always the desire, or the need, to strive further, to learn more on the path to understanding and transcendence. You may want to follow those that have gone before to achieve a true sense of inner fulfillment. Work towards your own ‘mountain top’. The effort may be great, but so are the rewards.
Keywords: Ascent in consciousness. Spiritual, material, corporate or political striving. Having an entourage of people (or wanting one). Aloneness and separation. Setting off to somewhere else. Going on a mission. Finding one’s spiritual grounding. Getting back to the purer elements of life. Ambitions to get to the top. Wanting the highest office in the land.

People scrambling for the top. The “tall poppy” syndrome. Ambitions that know no bounds. People ridiculing others for their lesser position. Spiritual or corporate struggling for position.
The Moon’s South Node symbolizes: Past karmic patterns to be overcome, can be habits that are good, but can describe things, relationships, issues that you need to let go of, or, hold you back from manifesting your true destiny. Relationships that feel karmic and difficult, memories from the past.
