November’s Scorpio new Moon is a doozy – occuring on November 5 in Australia and November 4 in the US, it has the hallmarks of being a rather radical and transforming time, although it can also mark a time of rebellion and the need to find personal freedoms in amongst feelings of oppression and duty. Uranus is *exactly* opposite the new Moon, bringing about a kind of tension that will see many wanting to break more and more ties and bonds to the past, and, no doubt, the present, and, there can be issues about how people see their future.

Ideas of personal freedoms and liberties are very likely to erupt, along with feelings ofwanting to break free from authority – authorities of all kinds – and, the desire to be a unique individual that calls their own shots can be very strong. Not everyone, of course, will be on the same side of the fence: Some will demand that others conform, obey or line up to do what is ‘right by society’ while others will be more determined to go their own way, deciding what is right for them. This can lead to more and more splintering off from others, from convention, from what’s ‘accepted’ and many will become even more entrenched in their views of how others, and the world, ‘should be’. Shocks and surprises are very likely, and, we may find several ‘annoyances’ – things going wrong or ‘fritzing’ – however, we can also find ourselves making swift decisions, or, others might make them for us. There is likely to be a big pushback to authority of all kinds, and many might have the feeling of being the black sheep in the family – the scapegoat for others’ feelings about what’s happening.

There’s also Mercury in Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn, and, Mars in Scorpio squaring Saturn in Aquarius. Both of these aspects can add to the tension in the air, and, can lead to digging in one’s toes and holding the line for some while others may be enforcing ideas and laws and ‘regulations’ onto others that may meet with rather severe resistance. Issues with how things ‘look’ rather than how things actually are might come up, and, frustration and brick walls can have us looking at our own projections and the sometimes mistaken demands made on ourselves or others may come to light.

Of course, these aspects can also propel us into looking below the surface to what is real and what is not – what is worthy of doing, following or pursuing and what is not. And, if we can identify what is truly standing in the way of our progress or happiness, we can see where frustrations or brick walls are hampering our efforts. These aspects can be both rewarding and oppressive – depending on how we go with the energies. Certainly we can have great breakthroughs in understanding, and, we are in some cases, being called on to see what reforms or improvements we can make in our lives and our understanding of our place in the world.

Epiphanies are very likely – we can have those AHA moments during this time – and, it is good to take notice of what messages are coming through. You may be noticing ‘angel numbers’ around you, repeating numbers that feel like messages coming through from spirit. Taking notice of these repeating signs, whatever they are, can lead to more coming through. This can be a time of deep insight and revelation, especially if one can successfully push back on the obstacles and frustrations.

With Uranus directly opposing the Sun-Moon opposition, the theme is likely to be around others limiting one’s freedoms and expressions, however we might find that it’s more our own limitations and demands that can bring us to examining what our role is in the need to keep the status quo or to break with one’s traditions or history.

The message of retrograde Chiron is very important on Aries 10: A TEACHER GIVES NEW SYMBOLIC FORMS TO TRADITIONAL IMAGES – I see it as being a time to ‘rewrite the book’, to bring new ideas, innovations and improvements through perhaps seeing things differently. I have long called Chiron The Stories We Tell Ourselves, as the Wounded Healer loses the ‘wound’ when the story is dropped – releasing the story means that no wound can exist. How can you rewrite that story that hampers you?

There’s more to say – there always is.

The Sabian Symbol for November’s new Moon is Scorpio 13: AN INVENTOR PERFORMS A LABORATORY EXPERIMENT – the following is my full interpretation from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees of Wisdom –

Commentary: ‘An Inventor’ is seen ‘Performing a Laboratory Experiment’. It’s hard to know from this Symbol whether he is alone or working with others. Regardless of the circumstances, he has to take responsibility for the outcome. The ‘Inventor’ has to imagine what is possible, gather the necessary ingredients and be willing to take a risk on whether things will work out or not. His ‘Experiment’ may prove to be successful, scary or downright dangerous and risky. If the ‘Inventor’ is doing something new and untried, he must be prepared to step out into unknown territory, and be prepared for the whole thing to blow up in his face. However, ‘Experiments’ don’t really fail; although he may have to start all over again with a new set of plans, something is always gained.

Oracle: If things are not working at the moment you probably need to ‘Experiment’, trying different combinations and possibilities. In doing so you will not only most likely find the solution to the situation, but you will also learn a lot from any errors that are made along the way. Look for creative solutions to the situation facing you. A lot of amazing discoveries can be made simply by having a go at something or creating the right mix of ingredients. As the situation unfolds, you’ll learn clues as to what should be the next thing to do, the tasks that are worth performing or the risks that you are prepared to take. Be prepared to be inventive and make things up as you go along. Sometimes we have to just “go for it” and do what we feel needs to be done without knowing what the outcome is going to be. Take a few calculated risks and along the way you just might discover something unexpected.

Keywords: Creating one’s vision. Thinking quickly and making momentary decisions. Being prepared to risk failure. Bringing different mixes of things and/or people together. Taking calculated risks to see what will happen. Seeing if things live up to expectations. Looking for answers. The “mad professor”. Mixing chemicals. Measuring and weighing. Going by one’s gut reactions. Inventions and experiments. Discovery. Laboratories. Research.

The Caution: Becoming obscured by pointless goals. Making things up. Being one-eyed and focused to the exclusion of all else. Not fully understanding the consequences of actions. Always taking risks. Not taking adequate cautions. Not keeping track of what you’re doing. Ignoring warning signs. Being a “mad professor”.

The Karmic Condition of this new Moon is Scorpio 12: A BRILLIANT ASSEMBLY OF OFFICIALS AT AN OFFICIAL EMBASSY BALL

This Symbol implies the ability to be able to mix with people from all over the world, to talk in different kinds of languages or travel in the circles of the elite. You are likely to find, at times, that you’re invited to the ‘right’ functions or that you’re sure of being on the list of those who gather together to make decisions or call the shots. Enjoying social situations can be rewarding on many levels, however, the conditions may sometimes be caged in rather strict protocol and rules of behavior that you and others have to adhere to. Look at yourself and observe whether you are being your natural self or putting on a show for others. This Symbol can imply social climbing and political strategies.

Keywords: Political game playing. Manners and protocol. Dressing and looking right. Who knows who and what it’s worth. Social and political standing. The Cinderella story. Sparkling occasions. Knowing etiquette. Looking for social connections and outcomes that are not necessarily immediate. International relations. The “My Fair Lady” story. Social engineering. Speaking the right language.

The Caution: The habit of role-playing. Not being taught how to behave in “polite society”. Having to learn how to fit in without having instruction. Dining, drinking and enjoying life whilst others can “eat cake”. Diplomatic standoffs. Gate crashing. Feeling out of one’s depth. Political point scoring that ignores the human dimension.

The Quest Symbol for the new Moon is Scorpio 14: TELEPHONE LINESMEN AT WORK INSTALLING NEW CONNECTIONS

This Symbol implies the ability, or the need, to be able to connect in with people or situations, sometimes with tools and equipment. This degree shows networking, along with the desire to talk to people or bring them together and improve communications. If people have been experiencing failure in fully expressing their thoughts, ideas or emotions, there is nothing to be achieved by just worrying about it; but rather do something to repair the lines of communication. Doing this can cause surprising new connections with people linking up, even from surprisingly isolated places. Sometimes expert advice and help must be called in; this degree often shows people who can do it.

Keywords: Acupuncture and other therapies that work on the body’s meridians. The nervous system. The Internet. Forming new lines of communication. New connections taking place. Linking people up. Making sure that messages get through. Mobile phones, faxes, email. Networks and networking. Switchboards. Satellites. Wires. The ability to reach far distances. Getting on other peoples’ wavelengths. Contacts. Hooking up with the system. UFO experiences. Mobile phones.

The Sabian Symbol of Mercury is Libra 29: MANKIND’S VAST ENDURING EFFORT FOR KNOWLEDGE TRANSFERABLE FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION

This Symbol speaks of handing knowledge down through the ages so that the wisdom and teaching are not lost and people in successive generations may benefit from studying or knowing it. There is, or needs to be, an outreaching to others through awareness with this degree. Of course, there is always more to wisdom than just knowing; it’s what’s done with knowledge that creates wisdom. It is through knowledge and understanding that we can bridge the gap between ourselves and others and ensure that valuable lessons and insights are available to all.

Keywords: Interpreting and conveying beliefs and ideas. The desire to pass on something to others. Handing down possessions or knowledge. Knowledge being changed, modified or updated. Teaching by example. The wisdom of the ancestors. Research into history. Striving for answers. Books and the spoken word. Encyclopedias and reference books. The gift of knowledge.

The Karmic Condition of Mercury is Libra 28: A MAN ALONE IN DEEP GLOOM. UNNOTICED, ANGELS ARE COMING TO HIS AID

This Symbol shows help, encouragement and assistance coming when one is most in need of it. There can be an inclination to depression with this degree, but it seems that, particularly if faith is employed, there is always some redeeming event or someone helpful turns up and the “Gloom” is dispersed and the light returns to one’s life; there is a realization that things are getting better. There are likely to be periods of going through a difficult time, but it will always dawn on you that you are being ‘helped’ in some way; ‘Angels’ come to aid those who need their help. Don’t be afraid to ask for their assistance. Have hope, faith, trust and work on changing your attitude and watch how hope returns.

Keywords: Feelings of not being alone. Awareness of spiritual help in times of need. Salvation versus depression. Feeling like one’s luck is about to change. Improvements in the pipeline. Changes in the “weather”. Helpers arriving just when they’re needed. Brightening influences. Angels and spiritual forces for good. Guardian angels.

The Caution: Unrealistic reliance on spiritual agencies or help from others. Feeling like no one cares or that no one is listening. Being alone and forgotten. Losing faith in things getting better. Refusing help. Misery and gloom and doom.

This degree shows that people will dispense rewards upon those who are eager to receive from them. This Symbol often shows a spokesperson that will be heard by everyone. Leaving people out that don’t measure up or conform. Having people at one’s beck and call.

The Quest Symbol of Venus is Capricorn 1: AN INDIAN CHIEF CLAIMS RECOGNITION AND POWER FROM THE ASSEMBLED TRIBE

This Symbol shows the necessity or the ability to be strong, stand tall, be in charge and command respect. There are leadership issues that need to be embraced or addressed. Sometimes we need to rise to the occasion and take charge and this may lead to a struggle for control; you may have to remind those around you that you can be trusted to make decisions or lead others. At times in your life, those above you may remind you of your lesser position in the scheme of things. This can happen if others are jealous of your achievements and power. Always know when to give way to the rights of others.

Keywords: Assuming authority and the need for it. Benevolence bestowed. Winning by charisma and strength of numbers. Finding a true sense of place. Signs that one should be in charge. Staking one’s claim. The ‘Claim of Recognition’. Respect. Having to stand up or stand out in the crowd. Having the charisma of leadership. Consolidating power. Popularity contests.

The Sabian Symbol of Mars is Scorpio 4: A YOUTH HOLDING A LIGHTED CANDLE IN A DEVOTIONAL RITUAL GAINS A SENSE OF THE GREAT ‘OTHER WORLD’

This Symbol shows a sense of faith and wide-eyed innocence that draws spiritual experiences in, sometimes in rather unexpected ways. There’s a feeling of reverence here, along with ritual and ceremony. The “Candle” depicts the light that illuminates one’s consciousness and “A Youth” implies a young person, perhaps doing an apprenticeship or an aspirant on the path to spiritual self-actualization. The “Youth” gets a glimpse into spirit, into the hidden side of life, perhaps having clairvoyant visions or getting goose-bumps from moments when the veil between the two worlds seems very thin. Rituals of all shapes and sizes and simple rays of hope give you spiritual strength. Light a candle and affirm your intentions.

Keywords: Simple ideals. Ceremonies that are pure and uncomplicated. Affirming intention to the path. The light of consciousness. Shining a light that brings understanding of things on the spiritual level. Spiritualist meetings. Feeling overwhelmed. Enlightenment. Wide-eyed innocence and wonder. Sexual experiments leading to transcendence. Potency. Devotion to ritual. Expansion of psychic talents.

The Caution: Naive reliance on insincere promises. Feeling like someone is too young to be of any worth. False feelings of reverence and enlightenment. Placebos. Hallucinogens.

The Karmic Condition of Mars is Scorpio 3: NEIGHBORS HELP IN A HOUSE-RAISING PARTY IN A SMALL VILLAGE

This Symbol shows people coming together in order to commune together and build and accomplish something. Rather than going it alone, great things can be achieved if everyone works and pulls together. It is by acting as a community, rather than as separate individuals, that difficult projects can be undertaken and completed. Sharing one’s skills, resources, time, tools and experiences can build worthwhile community values and enduring friendships that enrich and reward the community. Along with the labor, there will be time to share a drink, a meal and a chat, further drawing people into a sense of community and a shared purpose with each other.

Keywords: Cooperation. Real estate deals. Community concerns. Buying or building houses. Renting apartments and homes. Needing help to find shelter. The agreement of neighbors to maintain community harmony. “Raising the roof”. Parties. Dormitories. Having to consider the needs of lots of people. Match making. Community halls. The Sabian Symbol of stationary direct Jupiter is Aquarius 23: A BIG BEAR SITTING DOWN AND WAVING ALL ITS PAWS

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to develop responses and perform above and beyond the normal expected level. Issues of having to do what others tell you, or having to perform along the lines of how you’ve been trained may be fine for a while, but eventually you are likely to tire of doing the same things or not being taken seriously. Perhaps there are things you don’t want to do, but it seems your duty to perform. Look to your situation and see if you are compromising yourself or just acting out conditioned responses. Perhaps you are indeed excelling your normal level of performance, only you can tell.

Keywords: Developing skills. Making excuses. Performing rote responses. Expecting others to perform. Entertaining people. Being theatrical. Stomach rubs. Big, tall, brute energies. Sitting down or standing up. Fur and fuzzy hair. Playing instruments. Dancing. Performances. Arm waving. Animal training. Bears. Training. Learning by example. Fun vs. drudge.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to transcend difficulties and things that lure you off your path and then turning around and being an example to others for how they can live their lives. At times in your life, you may feel that you can no longer survive the roller-coaster ride of your emotions. It is by controlling your “Passions” that you will be able to find an objective position that allows you to understand your life and to move forward. You can benefit everyone by teaching the new wisdom and understanding that come after having gone through some hard life lessons.

Keywords: Conquering one’s base nature. Changing through maturing realizations. Learning lessons the hard way. Realizing it’s time to let go of things that once mattered. Being an example so others may learn. Reforming one’s ways. Dignity. Guidance. Turning around. Dropping the lower ego or society. Leading a monastic life. Showing what you’ve learnt.

The Sabian Symbol of Saturn is Aquarius 8: BEAUTIFULLY GOWNED WAX FIGURES ON DISPLAY

This Symbol speaks of the ability, or the need, to be able to create beautiful, or at least useful, things to inspire others or to brighten people’s lives or to contribute beauty to society and culture. It can imply a sense that one has always to be on “Display”, that others are looking at you or the things you do or produce. Being “Beautifully Gowned” is a wonderful thing, but of course inner beauty is more important than outer. It is not enough to just look the part; people must live it as well. Although it is desirable to be beautiful and manicured, you must ‘walk your talk’ as well. You may find that some elements of your life are too superficial or have only a superficial part to play. Things may look good on the outside, but what’s going on inside?

Keywords: Setting standards. Exemplars of social ritual. Superficial values on display. Superficial beauty or avatars of fashion? Not showing true feelings. Beauty salons, modeling. Judging a book by its cover. No substance. Pretty on the outside. Positions of power and privilege that seem unreal. Models. Beauty and its allure. Store dummies. Money spent on appearances. Always having to look good. The need for real flesh and blood responses.

Fake responses. Acting only for social acceptance. Bloodless realities. Lifeless figures. Obsession with beauty and fashion. Judging others without regard for their humanity. Emotionless realities. Being a “Handbag” wife or husband.

The Sabian Symbol of retrograde Uranus is Taurus 13: A PORTER CARRYING A MOUNTAIN OF HEAVY BAGGAGE

This Symbol implies someone who tends to carry the load for others. They often feel responsible for everyone and everything. The ‘porter’ will usually spring to attention when asked to help or to shoulder the burden of others luggage or baggage. In fact, you may be doing a lot to help others, but not getting much appreciation or thanks. Be wary that you are not just helping people to hang on to their extra ‘baggage’, through your desire to be useful and helpful. This can weigh them down when you are no longer available. Grinning and bearing the weight only works for so long before one tires of it.

Keywords: Self-reliance. Owning other people’s ‘garbage’. Shouldering baggage or weight. Being weighed-down. Feeling responsible for everything. Bad backs and posture. Carrying others. Counseling people, taking on their emotions. Bad backs, shoulders, knees, etc. Strain and wear. Bearing the family guilt. Luggage. Trolleys. Looking for tips.

The Sabian Symbol of retrograde Neptune is Pisces 21: A LITTLE WHITE LAMB, A CHILD AND A CHINESE SERVANT

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to provide care, safety and comfort to those who need it. The “Child” has a “Servant”; he is well looked after. He also has a “Little White Lamb”, an animal companion, one he can be with, hug and enjoy. It is natural to try and gain a physical awareness and in our early years it was the sense of touch that was initially satisfied. If you felt cradled and comfortable, you could grow knowing that all was safe and well. At times in your life you could find yourself in a place of privilege; cradled from those things that could hurt or challenge you, having someone to look after you. Conversely, you could be the one who’s always there for others, supporting and loving them regardless of who they are or where they’re from.

Keywords: Being protected by higher, more aware, energies. The privileges money and social status bring. Awareness of the different levels of situations. Differing perspectives. Helpers, servants. Care. Being watched over. Watchfulness. Pets and animals. The supervision of youngsters. Purity of vision. Caring for the child within.

The Caution: Social incompatibility. Purity merely by nature of wealth. Not having to grow up because of the social environment. Not taking responsibility for one’s self. Acting like a brat and getting away with it.

The Sabian Symbol of stationary direct Pluto is Capricorn 25: AN ORIENTAL RUG DEALER IN A STORE FILLED WITH PRECIOUS ORNAMENTAL RUGS

This Symbol speaks of the ability, or the need, to know how to appraise the worth of things, to be able to buy and sell and market products for sale in the market. Taking pride in the products of your culture, and the buying and selling of useful and beautiful things is a responsible position, and the claims made about the products for sale have to be tried and true. There may be a feeling of needing to reassess your attitudes and ideals, particularly if there’s the desire to get the better of others. You may feel the need to work with the physical and mental practices of oriental traditions that are available.

Keywords: Refinement of cultural understanding and values. Appreciating excellence of quality. Always looking for a bargain. Buying things at bargain prices and selling them at higher prices. Bartering and trading. Charging a fair price. The sales pitch. Second hand goods. Marketing. Promotions. Sales. Discounts. Closing the sale. Being able to think on your feet.

The Caution: Bargaining only to personal advantage. Giving undue significance to unworthy goods. The archetypal “car salesman”. Talking to others merely to gain advantage. Not appreciating the value of one’s goods.

The Sabian Symbol of Chiron is Aries 10: A TEACHER GIVES NEW SYMBOLIC FORMS TO TRADITIONAL IMAGES

This Symbol implies that you have ideas or a message to spread, but you may be holding back because you think it has been done before – however, things done by you are best done your own way. Bring out something fresh and new and it will revitalize those around you. Looking at things in a different light, you’ll revision old thought forms with new ones. Try to find new solutions to old ideas – you could revolutionize something.
Reinterpretation. New dimensions of consciousness breaking through old thought forms.

Keywords: New dimensions breaking old thought forms or behavior. Quantum science. Innovation and re-creation. Working with educational tools. Finding new inspiration. Being “ahead of one’s time”. New-age consciousness. Ideas out of the past for the future. Sticking one’s neck out. Rewriting the book.

The Caution: Rejecting old ideas because they are old instead of reforming them. Throwing things of worth out, without examining them. Having little respect for things that are really worthwhile or traditional. Sticking with the tried and true, no matter what. Thinking that no one will be interested in your ideas. Heresy. Dogma.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon’s north node is Gemini 2: A NERVOUS GENTLEMAN, DRESSED IN AN ELABORATE SANTA CLAUSE COSTUME, IS FILLING CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS FURTIVELY

This Symbol often describes people who are into giving gifts and dishing out the good things in life to others. The question is: are you the giver or the receiver? Regardless, there are gifts given or received. Those who are giving will probably try to make it a surprise. In fact, it can show someone sneaking around, somewhat like ‘Santa Claus’, in an effort to achieve something while no one is looking. Be gracious and accept those things you both give and receive, but do be wary that people could be suspecting what’s really going on as it may not always be clear what the intentions are behind the act.

Keywords: Wishes fulfilled. The longing for superficial gratification. Gifts being dispensed. Receiving from unknown sources. Giving for no particular reason or thought of reward for one’s self. Rewards coming. Making surprise visits. Token gestures. Furtive acts. Charity. Philanthropy. Masturbation. Secret affairs. The need for quick getaways.

The Caution: Hiding true gestures behind futile pretence. Concealing true intentions with a façade of goodness. Trying to get away with something. Stealing, shoplifting. Intrusion. Giving others what they want in a sly and secretive manner. Sneaking around in the dark. Bribes. Self-gratification. Eavesdropping and voyeurism. Being nervous or easily startled.

The Sabian Symbol of the Moon’s south node is Sagittarius 2: THE OCEAN COVERED WITH WHITECAPS

This Symbol implies the possibility of getting whipped up about things, often out of proportion to what’s really going on OR staying calm and centered when events or people are getting out of control and making a big deal out of situations. You may find that surface emotions get whipped up and this can led to concerns that are disproportionate to the depth of the situation. Emotions, intelligence and situations probably have a far deeper sense of strength and permanence than it may seem. Get below the surface where things are calmer and more stable. However, don’t withdraw completely as you could find it hard to surface and show your true feelings.

Keywords: Mobilization of energy and emotions. Safety in more secure emotions. Blustery days. Churning thoughts. Being flighty and changeable. Overblown reactions. Energy that needs an outlet for expression. The need for stillness and meditation.

The Caution: Getting fussed and irritable over nothing, or at least very little. Nervousness. Whipping up emotions and reactions. Overdoing things. Not knowing how to rest. Responding too readily to external conditions. Gathering gloom.
