If we could read the secret history of our enemies we should find in each man’s life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility. Longfellow

The basic difference between an ordinary man and a warrior is that a warrior takes everything as a challenge, while an ordinary man takes everything as either a blessing or a curse. Don Juan

Logic is like the sword—those who appeal to it shall perish by it. Samuel Butler

We are going to have peace even if we have to fight for it. Dwight D. Eisenhower

The writer, making every effort to appear innocent and noble, takes his revenge with the pen; while the murderer, less hypocritical, takes it with the sword. Christopher Spranger

All who take the sword will perish by the sword. The Bible

The March new Moon in Pisces happens on March 2 in the US and March 3 in Australia. It is on a very apt Sabian Symbol – A SWORD, USED IN MANY BATTLES IS NOW IN A MUSEUM, and, it’s tightly conjunct Jupiter (my ideas, philosophy, beliefs, world view, etc, rule). This is an enormous new Moon: We have the new Moon conjunct Jupiter, Venus and Mars conjunct Pluto, Mercury and Saturn conjunct. This speaks of often momentous changes, and, there are a number of trials and tests associated with this time (as is obvious but the Symbols ‘speak’ it). As we are aware, this is such a momentous time and this new Moon is such a doozy that I couldn’t resist doing a newsletter about it. I’ve been very quiet for several months – dealing with what’s going on here in Australia but wanting to have a voice but keeping busy but very much to myself. For those who may not be aware – we are now experiencing severe flooding, loss of life, houses and animals, etc, lost = complete devastation largely along Australia’s east coast.

Venus, Mars and Pluto are on a Symbol that I’ve always associated with the media – all kinds of media, and not only media, but ‘having your voice heard, speaking, vying with others’ voices, opinions, competing for position’ etc. I have predicted when Pluto reaches this degree – Capricorn 28: A LARGE AVIARY – that the media would hit enormous snags, perhaps even the collapse of some social media platforms and sites, and, certainly, censorship would ramp up (be quiet those in the back). The minute that Pluto moved onto Capricorn 28, Facebook had 250 billion wiped off their shares (there’s more to what’s happening with Facebook in Europe particularly). TikTok is said to be replacing Facebook with a lot of people moving to that platform, although some users are finding that there’s censorship there, too, even as people are posting things that are on the news or on mainstream media. Of course, adding to the ‘aviary’ theme, there’s memes and exaggerations and distortions and trolls and arguments going on on all sides (made more manifest with both Venus and Mars conjunct Pluto on the large aviary degree. This is also the Pluto return of the USA. It’s curious to think of the US Pluto on A LARGE AVIARY, and, to my mind, very apt considering the size of the media in the US.

In amongst all that’s going on, the message seems to be largely about keeping as much faith and optimism as we can (the alternative tends to work against us). With Saturn and Mercury conjunct, we may find it’s all a bit of a test to stay positive, mental and emotional discipline can help us through it, and, seeing the message of THE LARGE WHITE DOVE (Aquarius 19) of the conjunction can bring us a sense that relief, feeling rescued or redeemed, or ‘landfall’ is near. An issue to be careful of is both Mercury and then Saturn moving onto the next degree Aquarius 20: A WOMAN DISAPPOINTED AND DISILLUSIONED, FACING A SEEMLING EMPTY LIFE – please note that I want to change that Symbol to A WOMAN ASSESSING HER LIFE – I think that gives us more ‘space’ to feel okay about the Symbol. Still, many are disappointed and disillusioned… BTW, I just noticed that the transiting Moon was on Aquarius 20 as I was finishing up this newsletter.

There’s more to say – there always is.

The Sabian Symbol for this new Moon is Pisces 13: A SWORD, USED IN MANY BATTLES, IS NOW IN A MUSEUM – the following is my text from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees of Wisdom: –

Commentary: ‘A Sword’ that has been ‘Used in Many Battles’ is ‘Now in a Museum’. It has most likely seen many struggles, battles and conflicts. It may have had to defend the honor of someone or something, and now it is placed in a ‘Museum’ where people can come and look at it and wonder at its history. The ‘Sword’ is such a masculine image, strong, heroic, metallic, sharp, hard and forbidding. The ‘Sword’ has done its job and now needs to be put away somewhere where it won’t need to fight or defend. That it is in ‘A Museum’ points to the fact that it is a reminder of the battles of days gone by.

Oracle: When reminded of the ‘Battles’ of the past, hopefully we are influenced towards peace, but we are also uplifted by the memory of the strength of the participants, their bravery and valor. You may be faced with the choice of fighting for something or reasoning with the intellect. This can be confusing if you lack training or experience in the ways of doing ‘Battle’. The obvious message is that it’s time to lay down one’s ‘Sword’, not in order to necessarily surrender, but to stop “the warring”. Perhaps this pictures someone who doesn’t know when to give up taking others on and fighting. This Symbol shows it’s time to give up ‘Battling’, to aim now for more peaceful solutions. There may have been a lot learnt in the ‘Battles’ you’ve experienced, but the thing that’s best learnt is that continuing to fight may lead to a bitter end, with no one being a true winner. Now’s the time to lay down the ‘Sword’ and accept love and peace back into your life. Putting the ‘Sword’ away in a ‘Museum’ can allow others to benefit from the struggles that have been undertaken, without worrying about how this weapon will be used in the future. How long can one go on battling, fighting and defending?

Keywords: Willpower. Martial arts. Putting aside thoughts of vengeance and revenge. Hanging up or laying down one’s ‘Sword’. Trophies of conquest that remind us of the past. History. Aging and maturing. Retirement. Remnants of battles. Souvenirs of the past. “Words as swords”. The Spear of Destiny. The Sword Excalibur. Disarming weapons. The search for truth and justice. Suits of armor. Peace at last. Sexual impotence.

The Caution: A lack of sensitivity. A pretense of one’s abilities. Giving up and “falling on one’s sword” from defeat. Grudges. Wanting to go into ‘Battle’ at the slightest excuse. Selfish agendas. Weapons of mass destruction or weapons of mass distraction? Pre-emptive strikes. Defensive behavior. Domestic violence.

The Karmic Condition (the previous degree) is Pisces 12: AN EXAMINATION OF INITIATES IN THE SANCTUARY OF AN OCCULT BROTHERHOOD

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to pass the tests that life, other people, spirituality or karma throws at you. You are likely to find at times in your life that you are being judged by those above you. It is difficult to see what their qualifications to judge you are, but this is often the nature of progression through the ranks. People being critical of one another can lead to better behavior, better performances or the like, or it can lead to feeling judged, violated and intruded upon. It can seem as though our lives are like lessons; we are periodically “Examined” to see how we are doing on our course. Be careful not to shut yourself away to avoid being seen or having to endure criticism.

Keywords: The ordeal that comes to any initiate for entrance into higher realms of being. Hermits. Tests, examinations, having to prove oneself. Being judged or being judgmental. Being cross-examined. Rarefied atmospheres that demand personal sacrifice. Initiations. Proving courage and purity. Trials. The attainment of knowledge. Apprenticeships. Being a candidate. Finding out how and where one fits in. One-eyed dedication. Trial by media. Cults. Rituals.

The Caution: Refusing advice. Arrogance. People saying “I told you so”. Invading other’s private space. Hiding away because of fear or social ridicule. Severe trials and tests that strip the joy of life. People assuming they know the truth about others. Fear of failure. Not living up to other’s expectations. Narrow mindedness. Harsh treatment. Going without.

The Quest Degree (the following degree) of this new Moon is Pisces 14: A LADY WRAPPED IN FOX FUR

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to present an image that shows intelligence, cleverness, glamour and beauty, along with knowing how to move in social circles. The “Lady Wrapped in Fox Fur” is someone who’s sure of them selves, able to bend to situations and have situations bend to their own desires. It often shows an intellect that can get out of, or into, anything they want. You can present an image that enhances your position in society. Intelligence and wit will probably see you through, with others noticing your beauty, grace or intellect. If, however, the guise was stripped away, would you still express the same qualities? You may have to display your capabilities because of negative prejudice, chauvinism, or being underestimated.

Keywords: Outer expressions of real inner worth. Animal magnetism and attraction. Intelligence and its display. Cloaks of feminine wit and sexuality. Beguiling minds. Animal totems and furs. Perceived beauty. The sense of having class and money. Beauty, fashion and talent. Being forward and upfront. Sense of personal style. Grace and composure. Elegance. Knowing what to say and when. Dressing up. Money spent on beauty. Tempting others with sexual signals. Perfumes. Pheromones. Taxidermy.

The Caution: False fronts and expressions of wealth. Selling out for momentary, or monetary, gain. Wrapped in intellectual superficiality. The fatal allure of beauty. Scoring points solely through charisma. Being so caught up in fashion and glamor that one loses a true sense of self. Being overdressed.

Jupiter is closely conjunct the new Moon on Pisces 15: AN OFFICER DRILLING HIS MEN IN A SIMULATED ATTACK

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be well rehearsed, prepared and ready for anything that life throws at you. When you’re well rehearsed, you are able to spring to attention when situations warrant it. At many times in your life, you may feel that you need to rehearse or prepare for difficult situations. There is wisdom in practicing to reduce the chance of error or failure. However, are you going over and over possible negative outcomes thereby losing the joy that can be found in relaxing and letting down your guard? Sometimes the things we think are going to happen don’t happen at all. Choosing where, when and how to be ready and willing to go for objectives is half the battle.

Keywords: Taking orders to better respond to situations. The higher self training the lower self. Exercises. Marching and going through the motions. The need for defense. Seeing ahead. Planning strategies. Fire drills. Smoke alarms. Being prepared. Issuing orders and expecting them to be followed through. Discipline. Martial arts of all kinds. Going over and over possible outcomes. Safeguards put in place. Gas masks and bomb shelters.

The Caution: Rigid routine for no real or valuable purpose. Feeling that one has always to be on the defensive. Being under attack, whether real or imagined. Overreacting to things. Feelings of unworthiness in the face of battle or confrontation. Victim consciousness. Fearful responses. Getting others to respond through spreading fear. Scare tactics.

The Quest Degree of Jupiter is Pisces 16: IN A QUIET MOMENT, A CREATIVE INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCES THE FLOW OF INSPIRATION – Jupiter and the Sun are conjunct on this Symbol (together on the same degree) a few days after the new Moon.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to quieten the mind, to spend some time in “Quiet’ contemplation, to allow for the “Flow of Inspiration”. Inspiration is a stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity. During many times in your life, you’ll find the flow of inspiration coming through if you allow it to and the more creative you allow yourself to be, the more inspiration will be in the messages. You may find that with each idea or creative inspiration there follows another and another. This signifies taking time to relax and go with the flow neither fighting against nor pushing forward. Closed minds and fixed attitudes will not help.

Keywords: Creativity inspired from above. Openness to higher forces and ideals. Realizations. Dreams. Channeling thoughts and feelings. Messages from one’s higher self. Finding solutions. Moments of calm leading to resolutions. Free flowing thoughts. The gift of inspiration. Turning on the tap of creativity. Blockages unblocked.

The Caution: Being too tired to meditate. Choosing to be unaware or to sleep instead of thinking purposefully. Not talking about what needs to be said. Having a lot of ideas that don’t translate into reality. Shutting off from others. Loud voices in the head. Schizophrenia.

Mercury is conjunct Saturn on Aquarius 19: A LARGE WHITE DOVE BEARING A MESSAGE

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to spread “Messages” that bring solace, comfort and joy to those who need help. “A Large White Dove” brings messages, possibly ones you’ve been waiting for for some time. You may need to resolve your situation by relying on peaceful messages that come from your spiritual center. They should be offered with gentleness and without malice. It can indicate either being seen as a savior or one who needs saving as you will at times be the one “Bearing a Message” at other times receiving the message. Whichever side of the equation you’re on, there can be relief once you’ve been able to assimilate the meaning in what’s being revealed to you.

Keywords: Being seen as a savior or one who needs saving. Blessings delivered—all will be well. Celebration. Somebody who brings blessed relief. Issues of hope and salvation. The Covenant. News. Announcements. Peace movements. The Rainbow Warrior. Utopian idealism. Olive branches.

The Caution: Staying with the assumption that things will never improve. Refusing solace. Shooting the messenger. Not trusting the good things in life. Not being content with any message that’s relayed. Insincere messages caused by the pain of not facing the real truth.

Venus, Mars and Pluto are conjunct on Capricorn 28: A LARGE AVIARY

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to take in a lot of information, to be social, yet have some time alone. The “Large Aviary” has a lot of citizens, all buzzing around, all interacting and full of life. There is a lot of chattering and flitting from one thing to another going on and while there is no harm being done, perhaps, sometimes, there’s nothing much really being achieved. Is this because there is a level of mental confusion happening? At the least there is likely to be a feeling of brotherhood and not being alone. Finding time alone can be difficult.

Keywords: Clairaudience. Hearing many inner voices. Having a huge entourage or crowd. Tinnitus. Enormous activity. Many people living their individual lives in one space. Blocks of flats and units. Housing estates. Birds, aviaries, bird seed. Perches. People chattering. Girls sharing. Lots to say. Little true content. Confined living spaces. Communicating solely with those in the immediate environment. Living in a world of one’s own with no thought of the realities of how other people live. Having to get along with others. Caged birds.

The Caution: Mental confusion bringing a lack of discernment. Too much chatter with not much being achieved. False sense of freedom. Chattering more than doing. Finding it hard to find peace, harmony or privacy. Lonely existences. Abandoned living spaces. Dependence on external sources of nourishment or other provisions.

Uranus is on Taurus 12: A YOUNG COUPLE WALK DOWN MAIN-STREET, WINDOW-SHOPPING

This Symbol shows an image of a young couple window shopping, imagining and picturing what they want for their future. Some things may be out of reach, but that doesn’t stop you looking, planning and dreaming of what might be. Enjoy the interlude, then get back to your real life where you can take steps to make money or put your plans into actuality rather than just looking. Jealousy and greed can rise up when there seems to be so much, so close. Realize that things of inner worth are available to you right now.

Keywords: The longing for “things”. The allure of ownership. Consumerism. Trying to raise money. Worrying about the “cost” of things. Weddings and engagements. Credit cards. Finances that are shared. Shared dreams. The future and its possibilities. Young people. Planning. Shopping. The honeymoon period. So much so close and yet so far.

The Caution: Denying happiness because of material deficiency. “Keeping up with the Jones”. Not focusing on your partner/friend. Unsure of where one stands. Being unwilling to commit to anything just yet. Avoiding the heart of one’s relationship. Focusing on the financial side. Issues of ‘who pays for what’. Arguments over money or possessions. Merely ‘Window Shopping’ not committing. Overspending. Being in debt. Monetary distractions. Missed opportunities.

Neptune is on Pisces 23: A ‘MATERIALIZING MEDIUM’ GIVING A SÉANCE

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to pick up subtle energies and psychic clues in the environment. The “Materializing Medium” can receive radiations, frequencies or vibrations that cannot easily be sensed by most people. At times in your life, you will experience a surprising sensitivity and awareness to spiritual forces and energies. This can cause confusion, other times enlightenment. Sit with any new impressions you receive until you understand their authenticity or depth. Sometimes there is a need to free up ‘stuck’ or earthbound entities. This degree can also show someone who can “Materialize” things; they can make things happen just by thinking about or concentrating on them.

Keywords: Spiritual channeling. A need to free up “stuck” or earthbound entities. Efforts to materialize things. Coming straight out with things. Giving voice to spirit. Tarot readings, clairvoyance and clairsentience. Things seen ahead of their time. Bringing messages from the other side. Contacting the dead.

The Caution: Putting on a false front. Merely doing a performance for others. Making things up. Using mind control over others to get a desired outcome. Using sensational methods to induce others to give up control over their own lives. Exorcisms performed by the inexperienced. Inviting weird energies or people.

Chiron is on Aries 11: THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, OR THE RULER OF ONE’S COUNTRY

This Symbol shows that it’s time to take charge, to expand your base of operations and to show that you have the integrity and the necessary energy to get things done. It’s also about bringing a sense of order and discipline into your life – physically, spiritually or emotionally. Find your sense of inner power and make it work for you so others don’t lord it over you. Be in control of your own destiny and individuality.

Keywords: Developing willpower. Inner power, discipline and integrity. Discipline of thoughts, emotions and actions. Leadership, power and ability along with their responsibilities. Accepting responsibility for one’s actions. “Calling the shots”. Rulers, presidents, leaders. Taking charge. The need for loyal subjects. Being voted in. The democratic process.

The Caution: Taking control. Lording it over everyone. Being overbearing. Not allowing others to be in charge of their own lives, health or situation. Egotistical and self-centered. Undermining others through a lack of self-awareness or confidence. Being larger than life. Dictators and tyrants. Military Governments.

The Moon’s north node is on Taurus 26: A SPANIARD SERENADING HIS SENORITA

This Symbol speaks of being able to use one’s voice, words, songs, poetry and culture to sway the minds and hearts of others. One can sway others to achieve a desire result. There is no guarantee of total success, but you must act if you want any chance of succeeding and you need to put your heart and soul into the performance. The worst that could be damaged is a little ego, so think positively and play your role with enthusiasm and passion. Music can lift the spirits and words of poetry and love can be healing.
Shared feelings, love or passion may result.

Keywords: Looking through pretence. Shared feelings, love or passion. Spontaneity. Welling expressions of romance. Being in tune with another. Soul mates. Chivalry. Reverting back to old methods of relating. Spinning tales to get a response. Knowing what to say and when. Music, singing, crooning, talking. Instruments. The use of the voice. Foreign voices. Guitars. Getting one’s message across.

The Caution: A ruse performed to achieve a goal by deception. Lies, deceit and propaganda. Not believing messages given by loved ones. Feeling like something is missing from a relationship. Superficial judgments of how things should look or be. Emotional manipulation. Selfish agendas. Things said merely to sway someone’s feelings. Empty promises or declarations. Pouring out the heart to deaf ears.

The Moon’s south node is Scorpio 26: INDIANS MAKING CAMP IN NEW TERRITORY

This Symbol implies being able to, or having to, settle into “New Territory”. Once a new place has been found, there is the need to acclimatize, adjust quickly and settle in. This new territory can be manifested in a physical, emotional or spiritual framework. Whichever it is, you need to feel at home in an inner and outer sense. You may feel a creeping sense of unease if you find it hard to relax in the new environment or that the rug may be pulled from under your feet. You may also be someone who moves often in life, sometimes before you were able to get a sense of belonging or having friends. However, there is likely to be a pioneering or venturing spirit.

Keywords: Settling in. Walk-ins. Having to learn the rules of being in a new environment. The need for freedom to live one’s life as one wants. Concerns with territory. Immigration. Migration across countries. Gathering things together for family and community needs. Tents. Shelter. Co-habitation. Revering and protecting the environment. Setting up camp. Going walkabout. Squatters. Respecting boundaries. Reservations.

The Caution: Moving into or invading other’s territory. Putting up with things when one should move on. Feeling invaded. Kicking people out because they don’t fit in or don’t belong. Segregation on grounds of color, race or religion. Compromising other’s living space. Arriving unannounced. Barging in. Attack and invasion.

The Karmic Condition of the Moon’s south node is Scorpio 27 (the north node was just recently on this degree for several days) is A MILITARY BAND MARCHES NOISILY ON THROUGH THE CITY STREETS

This Symbol shows the need for occasionally making a show for society to remind ourselves of our successes and achievements, whether they are collective or personal achievements. The “Military Band” can make an enormous amount of noise as it “Marches Noisily”, but sometimes we need to be awoken or reminded of the cohesion that a military band can show. Likewise, this degree can show a personality that likes to bang its own drum or to make a big noise for the establishment. As long as the audience is ok with the parade through their environment, one can contain the reaction from others. Sometimes, though, people get annoyed by people banging their drums a little too loudly.

Keywords: Making music to rouse people from complacency. Noisy announcements. Demanding attention. Trumpeting achievements. Reminders from the authorities that individuals are often not in charge. Celebrations of past battles. Corporate advertising. Peace rallies or war marches. Marching and drills. Precision movements. Baton twirling. Drums and trumpets. Spit and polish.

The Caution: A lot of volume that can be too pompous. So much volume that the true message gets lost. Demanding to be heard. Banging one’s drum, even when others might be unresponsive or not want to hear. Blaring announcements. Warnings to others to follow orders or to be complicit. Big ego displays. Propaganda. Threats to peace. Momentary disruptions.
