The solar eclipse happening on March 29 is a partial solar eclipse. This link gives some information on where and when it can be seen. Although this is not a total solar eclipse, to my mind, it is a very strong one. That’s because the Sabian Symbol for the eclipse, Aries 10: A TEACHER GIVES NEW SYMBOLIC FORMS TO TRADITIONAL IMAGES has been in high focus for several reasons: Mercury turned retrograde on this degree, and, Venus passed over it both shortly before and after it turned retrograde. In future weeks, both Mercury and Venus will again pass over this degree. So, it’s definitely been in high focus. The following degree, Aries 11: THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTRY OR THE RULER OF ONE’S NATION was the degree that Venus went retrograde on, and, Mercury and Venus will also pass over this degree again.
Now, this could relate to the president of the U.S., of course, but, it can also show prime ministers, ministers, CEO’s, people in charge in general, and also and probably more importantly, our ability to take control of our own lives – to be ‘the ruler of one’s own nation’. The message is one of taking something and changing it, making it one’s own perhaps, changing the rules, changing the way something is seen, perhaps to be a pioneer in one’s particular area of speciality. For one example: I have this degree in my chart, and, I’ve taken the Sabian Symbols and given them a new interpretation, a new way of looking at them, updating them for more modern times. There are many ways that we can take something rather ‘traditional’ and update it for modern times or to give a new slant on things.
I don’t usually like to get political in these newsletters, however, it is interesting to note Pluto, which is about to stationary and go retrograde, on Aquarius 4: A HINDU HEALER GLOWS WITH A MYSTIC HEALING POWER – this speaks of healing powers, particularly more natural healing methods. In the U.S., Robert Kennedy Jr (whether one likes or agrees with him or not) has had the platform of taking on big pharma and food industries that promote chemicals and things that are not good for our health. It’s interesting to note that Mars is exactly squaring Chiron which can have at this partial solar eclipse, a challenge to find perhaps better healing methods, and, Saturn is on Pisces 24: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD, a degree that I’ve been pointing out a lot as it’s been in high focus (I keep using that expression – high focus) for the last few years. It can speak of purging those people, institutions or things that don’t work for the people or don’t stand up to scrutiny. Whether RFK will succeed in his efforts is yet to be seen of course.
Further, we have Mars on Cancer 23: THE MEETING OF A LITERARY SOCIETY, and we have the issue of war maneouvers being spilled online in the U.S. It has certainly caused a stir. On other fronts, there may be may all kinds of arguing on social media and other news media. It’s certainly all happening. People’s differences of opinion may lead to more and more alienation if we’re not careful (as it is, I feel the need to tread carefully myself). The polarisation happening in society is so very apparent and this eclipse could add to the pressures.
Mercury, on this eclipse is on Aries 1: A WOMAN EMERGING FROM THE OCEAN, and, Neptune is about to enter this degree any moment. I wrote a Substack about this, if you’re interested in seeing what Neptune is up to on it’s journey into Aries, do check it out. Mercury, Venus, Neptune and the Moon’s north node are all closely conjunct around the cusp of Pisces and Aries. We are being asked to ’emerge’, possibly from obscurity, into a new sense of being. We are also being challenged to not step back into the past, especially into those areas that don’t work for us. And, to focus on our dreams, creativity and spirituality.
We are being asked to ‘rewrite the script’ in some measure, to update our ideas, thoughts and modes of expression. In amongst the difficulties that are very apparent at the moment, I see hope in this eclipse, despite the weird times we’re experiencing.
The Sabian Symbol for the partial solar eclipse is Aries 10: A TEACHER GIVES NEW SYMBOLIC FORMS TO TRADITIONAL IMAGES. The following is my full interpretation of this Symbol from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees of Wisdom –
Commentary: ‘A Teacher Gives New Symbolic Forms to Traditional Images’. This Symbol shows someone who can take a thing or a situation and transform and update it. The ‘Traditional Images’ can be ideas, objects, icons, beliefs; things we are familiar with. That a ‘Teacher Gives New Symbolic Forms’ shows the ability to restructure, reinterpret and present them more in tune with the times. It indicates a need for a fresh and revitalized perspective on things. This is what Marc Edmund Jones and Elsie Wheeler did with the Sabian Symbol “experiment”. This book has taken the Symbols a step further, giving them further depth and insight.
Oracle: In the situation facing you there’s a need to analyze and perhaps rewrite what has been observed and learned in the traditional roles we live out. Things may need a new interpretation to bring them up to speed with today’s thinking. Someone in this situation may have truly original ideas, but there’s a possibility of holding these back, feeling it has all been done before. The message here is to allow yourself to be creative and look for modern answers, seeing things in a different light or from a different angle. This may lead to realizations you have never even considered or imagined. Bringing out something new will revitalize your situation and affect those around you. This can bring new understandings about people and the way things work. There could be a revisioning of how one sees something like marriage, work, relationships, education etc. Sometimes this requires one to be daring, to “step outside the box”. Be prepared to take a different stance or look at things from a new and fresh perspective. Don’t stick to limitations, either your own or those others place on you. You may have to make a stand against those in a higher or more exalted position that think they know more than you—perhaps they don’t.
Keywords: New dimensions breaking old thought forms or behavior. Quantum science. Innovation and re-creation. Working with educational tools. Finding new inspiration. Being “ahead of one’s time”. New-age consciousness. Ideas out of the past for the future. Sticking one’s neck out. Rewriting the book.
The Caution: Rejecting old ideas because they are old instead of reforming them. Throwing things of worth out, without examining them. Having little respect for things that are really worthwhile or traditional. Sticking with the tried and true, no matter what. Thinking that no one will be interested in your ideas. Heresy. Dogma.
The Karmic Condition of this partial solar eclipse is Aries 9: A SEER GAZES INTENTLY INTO A CRYSTAL BALL IN FRONT OF THEM.
This Symbol shows the ability to focus, take insights in, analyze meaning and to draw conclusions from available information. The whole picture is there in front of you, but you often need to interpret its meaning. With a little concentrated effort, you will be able to see things very clearly. There is the ability to observe things that others may miss. Try really tuning in and looking within for answers as you have the ability to see them with just a bit of focus.
Keywords: Flashes of inspiration. Tuning in and looking within for answers. Creative visualizations. Aura readings. Cutting through irrelevant messages. Looking carefully at structure. Seeking perfection. Clairvoyance. Illumination and deep insights. Looking ahead to see the signs.
The Caution: Confused by literal meanings. Not seeing the symbolic message. Always looking this way and that, not at the center. Getting lost in the big picture. Daydreaming and ignoring what’s really going on. Obsessing over what may happen. Needing to know what’s coming up. Being impatient.
The Quest Degree of this partial lunar eclipse is Aries 11: THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, OR THE RULER OF ONE’S COUNTRY.
This Symbol shows that it’s time to take charge, to expand your base of operations and to show that you have the integrity and the necessary energy to get things done. It’s also about bringing a sense of order and discipline into your life – physically, spiritually or emotionally. Find your sense of inner power and make it work for you so others don’t lord it over you. Be in control of your own destiny and individuality.
Keywords: Developing willpower. Inner power, discipline and integrity. Discipline of thoughts, emotions and actions. Leadership, power and ability along with their responsibilities. Accepting responsibility for one’s actions. “Calling the shots”. Rulers, presidents, leaders. Taking charge. The need for loyal subjects. Being voted in. The democratic process.
The Caution: Taking control. Lording it over everyone. Being overbearing. Not allowing others to be in charge of their own lives, health or situation. Egotistical and self-centered. Undermining others through a lack of self-awareness or confidence. Being larger than life. Dictators and tyrants. Military Governments.
Mars, the ruler of this partial Aries solar eclipse is on Cancer 23: THE MEETING OF A STUDY GROUP OR LITERARY SOCIETY.
This Symbol shows the gathering together of those of like mind in order to exchange or share ideas and information. In society, the search for meaning should always be made in order to enrich not only yourself but those around you. Finding the best way to describe something creates the opportunity for greater access by the collective. This can show websites, magazines, newspapers, books; any place that people gather together in order to give an objective view on what’s happening in the culture in order to gain a better understanding of what makes society tick.
Keywords: Shared higher knowledge. Print media, libraries. The written word. Committees. The movie Dead Poet’s Society. Work shopping and brainstorming. Critics and criticism. Diaries, records and minutes of meetings. Newspapers and news media. Consulting with learned people. Talkback radio. Sharing beliefs and ideas. The mirrors of society. Discussions. Analyzing every piece of information until it loses its inherent message. Being told only what’s safe to reveal. Disinformation.
Mercury is retrograde on Aries 1: A WOMAN HAS RISEN OUT OF THE OCEAN, A SEAL IS EMBRACING HER.
This degree is the beginning of the zodiac where the old gets left behind. New understanding and awareness is coming to light. Something new is emerging and it needs to be welcomed and nurtured. This is the beginning of a whole new impulse, creative and responsive. There’s an emergence of a whole new potentiality. Resist looking back to outgrown and unsatisfactory conditions in your life as they can pull you back to old and unrewarding ways of being. This is also about finding your voice and your feet. It’s about conscious individuation and the need to forge into new worlds with a new way of being.
Keywords: Cycles starting. Beginnings. Emergence into concrete manifestation. Embracing and honoring the shadow. Recognizing our animal side. Tropical islands or lands. Rocky shores. Seals. Oceans and water. Shedding skins. Transmutation. The Selkie myth. Grounding one’s energy. Stepping between the sea and the shore. Androgyny. Love and its embrace. Finding your feet and your voice. Mermaids.
The Caution: Using masculine power to overshadow emotions. Refusing to move on. Feeling held back by fears and old life patterns. Falling back into previous, unsatisfactory conditions. Dragging others backwards. Immobilizing fear of the unknown. Being just another “fish in the sea”.
Venus is retrograde on Pisces 29: LIGHT BREAKING INTO MANY COLORS AS IT PASSES THROUGH A PRISM.
This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to analyze things, to consider and draw conclusions from available data, to be perceptive of colors, light refraction or reflection, auras and light. You probably have the ability to break situations down into the simplest components in order to see the full picture. This can and often does lead to a greater understanding of the relationship between the whole and the many parts. Just be careful not to overanalyze, thereby losing the joy that’s inherent in the simplicities of life. Taking a single vision and turning it into many individual streams can be rewarding, but it can also confuse and distract.
Keywords: Spectrum analysis. Color and crystal healing. Rainbows. Light refraction. Side effects. Considering many facets of a situation. Endless opportunities. Optics. Sight. Seeing. Copying and sharing ideas or things. Disseminating information. Auras and aura photography. Triangles. Polarization of light. Reflection. Laboratory tests. Diffracted personality.
The Caution: Locked in to a set of parameters. Over analyzing things. Being blinded by ambition. Daunted by the task ahead. Mirages. Microscopes and binoculars but not seeing things as they really are.
The Sabian Symbol of Jupiter is Gemini 16: A WOMAN ACTIVIST ON A PLATFORM, IN AN EMOTIONAL SPEECH, DRAMATIZING HER CAUSE.
This Symbol shows the periodic need to be able to voice one’s needs, frustrations or demands without fear of being reprimanded. Sometimes, you may feel misunderstood and disadvantaged simply because of who you are or the position you hold. Even when you stand up for what you feel, you may strike resistance, partly due to others’ ignorance. You must press your case or the status quo will remain. If the cause is just and your communications are clear, you will be heard by those who understand or resonate with what you are saying and your influence will spread.
Keywords: Stating one’s case. Revealing social passions. Being a mouthpiece for the emotions of the collective. The desire to be heard. Having a platform or stage. The need for rational emotional points to be made. Being the “underdog”. Many things running through the mind. The battle between the masculine and the feminine. Taking it to the streets. Announcements. Fighting for a cause. Having to shoulder too many things.
The Caution: Pressing opinions on the unwilling and disinterested. Feeling that no one listens or cares. Rational or political structures overriding one’s life. Going over the top trying to get a message across. Feeling like the “woman”who is never listened to. Controlling the agenda. Hormonal swings. Male chauvinism blocking female progress. Justifying ones self. Silly ideas.
The Sabian Symbol of Saturn is Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD.
This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to see through those who hold important positions yet abuse trust or those who make great claims but don’t live up to them. At regular times in your life, you’re likely to find yourself leaving others behind, kicking them out, or experiencing falls from grace. Periodically, there is a need to examine moral and spiritual sincerity. It is easy to allow those who don’t really belong to stay because of familiarity or habit. We can lose sight of the ideal through our rationalizing intellect, ego and emotive passion. There is a need to cleanse and purify your life, leading to better spiritual values. What side of the “Purging” are you on? Are you the one with the ‘right motives’? Who’s in charge?
Keywords: Revealing the truth of people for who and what they truly are. Cutting people off. Throwing out things that don’t measure up. Forced retirement and redundancies. Payouts at the end of employment. Dismissals. Opting out for moral reasons. Being fired. Holes left where someone took up a lot of space.
The Caution: Stressful battle over who’s in charge. Blackmail. The threat of being thrown out. Something being revealed. Evicting people because they deceive, lie or mislead or just because they’re not liked. Bringing somebody down. Scapegoating others. Corruption and scandal that threaten collapse. Wanting to appear to be doing the right thing. Coverups. The burning of books. Perversion.
The Sabian Symbol of Uranus is Taurus 25: A LARGE WELL-KEPT PUBLIC PARK.
This Symbol shows that there’s lots of room to move situation and many things are in their rightful place. You are part of something important, but you are only a small part or something much larger. As everyone works together, you will be able to create a useful and lasting result that will eventually benefit the whole community. The question is: are you in a balanced state of work and play? Although there is probably a lot of work that needs to be done, fun needs to be given its priorities as much as work and duty.
Keywords: Paying attention to appearances. People living in peace. Space for everyone. People taking to the streets. Park benches, swings, slippery dips and sandpits. Charities and their work. Maintaining order. Gardens and gardening. Town planning. Work of the few for the pleasure of the many. Appearances kept immaculate. Golf and other sports. Picnics. Eating alfresco. Meeting others out in the open. Large plots of land. Acreage. Subdividing and development. Suburbia.

Neptune is on Pisces 30: A MAJESTIC ROCK FORMATION RESEMBLING A FACE IS IDEALIZED BY A BOY WHO TAKES IT AS HIS IDEAL OF GREATNESS, AND AS HE GROWS UP, BEGINS TO LOOK LIKE IT.
This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to envision or decide what you want to be and as you grow and develop, becoming that vision. The “Boy” of this Symbol lived in childhood under a hill figure of a president and when he grew up he became a president himself. At times in your life, you may find that you are growing into the image that you have imagined and it gives you a sense of pride – assuming you have chosen a positive image. What or who do you “Idealize”? What is it that you’d like to become? What image would you like to project? Meditating on a goal or the projection of an ideal can lead to actuality. Just be clear about what you really desire in the situation – you just might get it.
Keywords: Concrete manifestation of one’s ideals. Enduring truths. Culmination of efforts. Projections of ideal images. Wanting to be “big” and successful. Tutankhamen’s mask. Wanting a sense of immortality. Defining one’s fate through conscious manifestation. Morphing reality to suit an objective. Ambition. The ability to see life in inanimate objects.
The Caution: Not being at all clear about whom one is or what one can be. Becoming a screen for the projection of other’s ideals. Stony faces that show the hardships of life. Hardening of one’s personality. Stony faces. Idealizing others therefore losing one’s own identity.
Pluto is on Aquarius 4: A HINDU HEALER GLOWS WITH A MYSTIC HEALING POWER.
This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to both give and receive “Healing”, to tune into a sense of radiant health and show the path for others to follow in life. The “Hindu Healer” has a “Mystic Healing Power”; they are often someone who practices alternative forms of healing, although a medical doctor can also have this healing ability. Often, you’ll find that solving problems logically and rationally doesn’t work as well as employing more creative or spiritual solutions. The message is often to look to your spiritual center for healing power. This requires focus, practice and determination. Using the traditional spiritual methods of healing can lead to profound results.

Chiron is on Aries 23: A WOMAN IN PASTEL COLORS CARRYING A HEAVY AND VALUABLE BUT VEILED LOAD.
This Symbol shows issues of going to a great deal of effort to conceal from others things that are very important. This could be heavy responsibilities that have been placed on you. You may feel that you have succeeded in shouldering these burdens without others knowing, but in fact it may be apparent to others in the way the burden of your secret is affecting your behavior. It may be necessary to share the load. Are you truly participating in life? Do you always put on a happy face regardless of what’s going on?
Keywords: Privacy. Quiet determination to get on with the job. Mild manners. Carrying more than one’s share, gratefully or grudgingly. Shouldering problems. Bad backs. Victim status – poor me! Secret pregnancies. Doing overtime. Heavy loads. Smiling against the odds. Pastel colors. Codes of silence.
The Caution: Covering something up. Trying to conceal distrust. Keeping one’s thoughts and emotions locked-in creating ill health and disease. Fading into the background. Not being noticed or recognized. Feeling weighed down with shame, loss or humiliation. Wearing dark clothes. Dressing in order to cover up. Being the family scapegoat. Heavy karma.

There’s often a sense that one has all that’s needed, and emotions running high. The “Fertile Garden” signifies that you have things that you need at your disposal. This Symbol has a strong clairvoyant sense to it, with the ability to pick up on subtle energies and life forms in the environment. You’ll get a lot of opportunities to be able to enjoy the moment, but keep a sense of equilibrium, as soon the energy will be on the wane and you’ll have to get back to more practical, everyday tasks.
Keywords: Fullness and fertility. Peak of energy and experiences. Brilliantly active unconscious life. Cycles. Waiting for the right time to approach or handle a situation. The effect of the moon. The Moon’s south node is on Virgo 28: A BALDHEADED MAN WHO HAS SEIZED POWER.
This pictures a time to seize power and push forward with decisions that need to be grounded now. It is by force of will that the solution will be found, but one must be careful to temper the situation as displays of masculine will can get out of hand very quickly. Someone may need to take a stand and direct the course of action. It is most likely by force of will that the best solution will be found, but one must be careful to temper the situation, as strong displays of masculinity could get out of hand very quickly. Somebody may be pushing their agenda a little too hard, taking over and showing control issues. There are times when someone has to take charge—the question is in this situation; are they doing it wisely and kindly? Is love guiding their decisions or are they just being pushy and forceful?
Keywords: Dominating other’s mental space. Male hormones running rampant. Issues to do with hair. Ponytails. The story of Samson and his hair. Taking positions of power. Uniforms. Demanding others follow one’s lead. Strutting one’s stuff. “Wearing the pants in the family”. The ability to direct and organize many people. Letting others express their opinions or have a say. Domination. The Government. The Military. Decisions based on logic. Taking action or control.
The Caution: Pushing too hard or fast. Ramming one’s convictions. Being unkind and bossy. Putting on a show because one’s in uniform. Power tripping. Being cruel and domineering. Lording it over others. Being opportunistic. Corruption. Misuse of power. Bullying. Big business calling the shots. Domestic violence. Taking charge because one can. Strict rules to live your life by. Taking over. Not listening to what others have to say.
