The Emergence: Neptune Begins Its Journey Into Aries

Finding Your Feet and Your Voice
At the end of March, Neptune will move into Aries for the first time in 161 years. I’ve written up a Substack post about it. Here’s a snippet:
I’ve spent ages (well, months) thinking about the first degree of Aries. After all, so much has been, and will be, happening astrologically around the cusp of Pisces and Aries. Neptune has been in Pisces for some fifteen years (Neptune is the ruling planet of Pisces) and now it’s heading into Aries which is a whole different energy, and, this transit is sure to change many things as all outer planet transits of signs are bound to do. It’s quite a synchronicity that this is happening as the Sun enters Aries – happy Equinox, by the way! I have long thought that it’s extraordinary that Elsie Wheeler, the spiritualist medium that brought through the Sabian Symbols in 1925 – a hundred years ago now – in a double-blind experiment (she didn’t know which sign or degree she was describing) saw Aries 1 as A WOMAN RISES OUT OF THE WATER, A SEAL RISES AND EMBRACES HER. As no doubt many will realise, Aries 1 rises out of Pisces which rules the ocean.
I’ve long loved this painting, The Mermaid, by Howard Pyle 1853–1911, which was painted in 1910.
The Sabian Symbol for the first degree of Aries (remember to always add one to the zodiacal degree) is Aries 1: A WOMAN HAS RISEN FROM THE OCEAN, A SEAL IS EMBRACING HER.
Keywords: Cycles starting. Beginnings. Emergence into concrete manifestation. Embracing and honoring the shadow. Recognizing our animal side. Tropical islands or lands. Rocky shores. Seals. Oceans and water. Shedding skins. Transmutation. The Selkie myth. Grounding one’s energy. Stepping between the sea and the shore. Androgyny. Love and its embrace. Finding your feet and your voice. Mermaids.
The Caution: Using masculine power to overshadow emotions. Refusing to move on. Feeling held back by fears and old life patterns. Falling back into previous, unsatisfactory conditions. Dragging others backwards. Immobilizing fear of the unknown. Being just another “fish in the sea”.
A take that I’ve long had about Aries 1 is that the woman, the ‘mermaid’ is finding her feet and her voice in this new era she’s emerging into. A few months ago, I had the urge to watch a movie that I watched decades ago (it was released in 1994) that really impressed this idea onto me. It’s The Secret Of Roan Inish, an Irish movie about a seal emerging from the ocean, a Selkie, as a woman by removing her ‘leather seal coat’ and walks onto land and, well, I don’t want to give too much away. If you’re interested in watching the movie, you can no doubt find it through Googling it. I highly recommend it, it is a beautiful tale. I so enjoyed watching it again with the thought that we’re entering a new way of being (on many levels).
