April’s Libra full Moon occurs on the 13th in the U.S. and the 14th in Australia (to answer that question, we are ahead of the U.S. in our timezones, the full Moon happens on the same *moment* all around the world).

This is a very Chironic full Moon: Chiron is exactly conjunct the Sun and opposing the Moon. Some years ago I saw an anagram for the word ‘chironic’ as ‘I chronic’. I have long seen Chiron as not only being the archetype of the Wounded Healer, but, also, as The Stories We Tell Ourselves = without the story we tell ourselves, our wounds dissipate, but can also disappear from our consciousess. The Sabian Symbol for the Sun and Chiron is Aries 24: AN OPEN WINDOW AND A NET CURTAIN BLOWING INTO THE SHAPE OF A CORNUCOPIA. Is it time to open those windows and doors in order to let a new sense of being to sweep through your consciousness?

The message of Chiron (in amongst other things, naturally) is about examining those ‘wounds’, those ‘shortcomings’, those things that needle and trigger us, in order to release them. They are, in most cases, a product of the past and this is an excellent time to let these feelings (often hindrances) go.

With the Symbol of the full Moon being about finding a ‘balance’, we are no doubt being asked to find a deeper sense of equilibrium (in amongst the madness we are witnessing every single day, our heads might be swivelling at this point). In finding, or adapting to, a fuller sense of surety in our emotions and physical expressions, we can let go of those things that are holding us back, sabotaguing us or somehow causing confusion – especially around issues of who and what we should trust.

This is a good time to be jettisoning those things that don’t support us, love us or help guide us into our futures. Saturn and Venus are conjunct as Venus goes direct on Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD. The ‘priesthood’ can be any one or any thing that seeks to have sway, or control or influence or even space, in our lives. All the way from presidents, prime ministers, doctors, medical establishments, religious leaders, family members, leaders in our community, etc. We’ve had Neptune, Mercury and Venus in recent times highlighting this degree. The Moon’s north node will go over the ‘purging’ degree in late May, so, the energy of that degree is hanging around for quite some months, and, Venus goes direct on it – it is stationary now – in the coming days.

Saturn is conjunct stationary Venus on Pisces 26: A NEW MOON REVEALS THAT IT’S TIME FOR PEOPLE TO GO AHEAD WITH THEIR DIFFERENT PROJECTS. It doesn’t matter that we’re reading this on a full Moon, however, it most likely signifies that the next new Moon is an even better time to devote to moving ahead with the things that you want to achieve (or be), regardless of who or what is coming with you.

Uranus at this full Moon is sextiling the Venus/Saturn conjunction from Taurus 26: A SPANIARD SERENADING HIS SENORITA. No doubt we will, with the help of the flashes of insight or intuition from Uranus, discover where people are perhaps hoodwinking us or keeping us hooked (in some cases because of their charisma).

This feels almost like a type of ‘last gasp’ of the heavy period of Pisces that we’ve been experiencing. Of course, we have Venus, Saturn, the Moon’s north node, Venus and Neptune all closely conjunct in the last degrees of Pisces (with Neptune in Aries. I wrote a piece on Substack about Neptune’s journey into Aries). However, we are being led to drop some of the more ‘difficult’ aspects of Pisces (too much giving, too much trusting perhaps, too much self sacrifice, etc). Mercury and Venus will soon be in Aries, along with Neptune. (I explain more about the individual planets and the Sabian Symbols that they are on at this full Moon below).

Decisions and discipline could come to the forefront with Mercury trining Mars on this full Moon: With a bit of concentrated attention, we can find resolutions and breakthroughs about dropping more and more into our individuality and (perhaps) relying less and less on others (or the wrong others). After all, the ingress into Aries is Aries 1: A WOMAN EMERGING FROM THE OCEAN. Even though we have the Moon’s node now traversing Pisces, in amongst what’s going on it can do us well to not fall back into the past – to not entertain those things, places, people, etc, that can draw us back into that place that can feel like we almost don’t exist. Pisces, as we know, is a glorious sign (as are all the others!), but, especially with Neptune creating holes in the fabric for the last several years, we are now challenged to stand up, find our voice and our feet (the mermaid comes ashore to find that she needs to ‘discover’ these things in herself yet again).

The Sabian Symbol for Mars just hours after the full Moon is Cancer 29: A GREEK MUSE WEIGHING NEW BORN TWINS IN GOLDEN SCALES. This is very much about discernment and balancing things out, combine that with the full Moon being in Libra, AND, the Sabian Symbol for the full Moon being Libra 24: A THIRD WING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF A BUTTERFLY, the need for balance and equilibrium is paramount at this time.

I just want to add here that I still hear people on social media saying things such as ‘the eclipse is now over’ – just hours or the next few days after the eclipse or ‘that full Moon or that new Moon is now over’ – just moments after the actual lunation. A lunation (a new Moon or a full Moon) or say, an eclipse, can show it’s effects for several months and sometimes years after the event – depending on your chart and the events that are happening to you and around you at the time. (I hope that this is clear).

The Sabian Symbol for the Libra full Moon is Libra 24. The following is my full interpretation from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees of Wisdom: A THIRD WING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF A BUTTERFLY.

Commentary: ‘A Third Wing on the Left Side of a Butterfly’ is an image of imbalance and distortion combined with beauty and grace. A butterfly with three wings would be a beautiful thing to see. However, having a ‘Third Wing’ may look lovely, but it would make it very difficult to fly. Whilst we may marvel at such an oddity, it would prove to be very difficult for the ‘Butterfly’ itself. It may look curiously beautiful, but in reality it can be difficult surviving in the physical world with such a difficulty or handicap. In French, “gauche” literally means “left”, and it has the extended meanings “awkward” and “clumsy”. In fact, “awkward” itself comes from the Middle English “awke”, meaning “turned the wrong way” or “left-handed”. On the other hand, “adroit” and “dexterity” have their roots in words meaning “right” or “on the right side”. We see this fragility in creative people like Van Gogh, Robin Williams or Spike Milligan.

Oracle: Understanding and accepting fragility and differences in others can give us greater empathy for those that have difficulty operating efficiently in this world. Emotional breakdowns, fears and phobias can be symptoms of being too sensitive, not necessarily as a fault, but as a response to an unforgiving and tough world. When the transformation into full potential occurs it is a wonderful thing but you may feel that you are unnaturally developed in the emotive, intuitive realms. Instinct may be swamping logic, and whilst this can be very creative, it would be a good idea to try to regain some balance. This can point to threesomes of any kind and just as threesomes are considered to be an unbalanced relationship, ‘A Third Wing’ can imply imbalance and an inability to get anywhere. A ‘Butterfly’ can be someone who is bright when conditions are favorable, but is “done for” when the clouds gather. This Symbol can also indicate lop-sidedness on the physical level, such as having one side of the body imbalanced in some way. Balance is difficult to achieve with this Symbol, but is something that needs to be strived for.

Keywords: Creative overbalance. Bodily impairments and handicaps. Being light, flippant and fluttering from thing to thing. Over-sensitivities. Oddities. Beautiful imperfections. Idiot savants. Imbalances. One side of the body being more perfect than the other. Wings, arms, legs, feet.

The Caution: Unrealistic reliance on being different. Obsession with strange things. Feeling useless and out of place. Flapping around and not getting anywhere. Restlessness and nervousness. Lopsidedness. Impatience.

The Karmic Condition of this full Moon is Libra 23: CHANTICLEER’S VOICE HERALDS THE RISING SUN WITH ENTHUSIASTIC TONES.

This Symbol shows enthusiasm, joy, confidence and the desire to greet each day with the anticipation of new opportunities. It is true that each day begins the same – the Sun comes up, the world is still spinning – but what the day will bring always holds a bit of a mystery. This is a joyous Symbol of greeting and heralding the day, but there can be a blurring of the concept of whether the “Chanticleer” (the rooster), causes or simply heralds the new day. You may feel like you’re blessed with the voice to be able to speak new developments, to make announcements and wake everyone up to the realities of life. As long as you don’t make too much of a noise while doing it you’ll rouse people around you to action.

Keywords: Anticipating new opportunities. Waking early. Being a morning person. Having a clear, beautiful or loud voice. Speaking up when it’s needed. Heralding the new age. Seeing things ahead of their time. Being attuned to cosmic forces. Change or renewal. Always being on the go. Being eternally vigilant. Alarms that spur to action.

The Caution: Overstating ones role, talents or abilities. Needing a wake-up call (literally and symbolically). Crowing about things—disturbing others. Being noisy when others are trying to sleep. Being loud and irritating.

The Quest Degree of this full Moon is Libra 25:  THE SIGHT OF AN AUTUMN LEAF BRINGS TO A PILGRIM THE SUDDEN REVELATION OF THE MYSTERY OF LIFE AND DEATH.

This Symbol implies the ability, or the necessity, of being able to see far more in simple things than most people see. Instead of merely seeing “An Autumn Leaf”, “The Pilgrim” sees the cycle of life, the seed turning into the tree, the leaves turning in the autumn, etc, etc. There is far more to see in simple objects than is first apparent. You may have learnt much and yet grown tired of seeking information about life through conventional channels. A sudden insight can lead to a whole new revelation of life and its processes. Seeing things that others miss, look for answers in simple, everyday things around you. They may be fleeting, but they are around you – look for the signs, they can have profound effects.

Keywords: Seasonal adjustments. Fleeting inspiration. Seeing things in their own time. Spiritual revelations. Conversations with God. Feeling blessed. The beauty and timelessness of nature. Contacts with nature spirits. Angelic visions. Photography and having a photographic mind. Being here now. Pilgrims and their journeys. The Hadj pilgrimage. Solving problems. Quick and deep minds. Snapshots in time. The Caution: Focusing on things that have no lasting value or are no longer relevant. Looking for answers in everything, therefore missing out on the big picture that’s right in front of you. Making a big deal out of insignificant or everyday occurrences.

The Sabian Symbol of the Sun and Chiron is Aries 24: AN OPEN WINDOW AND A NET CURTAIN BLOWING INTO THE SHAPE OF A CORNUCOPIA.

This Symbol shows that your mind is, or should be, open to possibilities that are being ‘blown’ in from the realm of spirit. There is an abundance coming, shown by the cornucopia, that will be self-sustaining. This degree suggests that with the slightest change in direction your fortunes could change as well. Look for out-of-the-ordinary opportunities and possibilities. Realizing that in one’s everyday life, one has it all.
Imagination.

Keywords: Imagination. Keeping your options open. The promise of fruition. The breath of life filled with inspiration. Realizing that in everyday life, one has it all. Windows of opportunity. Gain, abundance, riches. Spiritual energies pouring in. Concentrated energy. Seeing desires taking shape. Curtains and windows.

The Caution: Relying on spiritual ideas to provide material sustenance. Dreaming of things dropping into one’s lap. Hoping that good luck will just ‘blow in’. Shutting windows, keeping light and life out. Drawing curtains and withdrawing. Promises, promises.

The Sabian Symbol of Mercury is Pisces 29: LIGHT BREAKING INTO MANY COLORS AS IT PASSES THROUGH A PRISM.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to analyze things, to consider and draw conclusions from available data, to be perceptive of colors, light refraction or reflection, auras and light. You probably have the ability to break situations down into the simplest components in order to see the full picture. This can and often does lead to a greater understanding of the relationship between the whole and the many parts. Just be careful not to overanalyze, thereby losing the joy that’s inherent in the simplicities of life. Taking a single vision and turning it into many individual streams can be rewarding, but it can also confuse and distract.

Keywords: Spectrum analysis. Color and crystal healing. Rainbows. Light refraction. Side effects. Considering many facets of a situation. Endless opportunities. Optics. Sight. Seeing. Copying and sharing ideas or things. Disseminating information. Auras and aura photography. Triangles. Polarization of light. Reflection. Laboratory tests. Diffracted personality.

The Caution: Locked in to a set of parameters. Over analyzing things. Being blinded by ambition. Daunted by the task ahead. Mirages. Microscopes and binoculars but not seeing things as they really are.

The Sabian Symbol of Venus is Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to see through those who hold important positions yet abuse trust or those who make great claims but don’t live up to them. At regular times in your life, you’re likely to find yourself leaving others behind, kicking them out, or experiencing falls from grace. Periodically, there is a need to examine moral and spiritual sincerity. It is easy to allow those who don’t really belong to stay because of familiarity or habit. We can lose sight of the ideal through our rationalizing intellect, ego and emotive passion. There is a need to cleanse and purify your life, leading to better spiritual values. What side of the “Purging” are you on? Are you the one with the ‘right motives’? Who’s in charge?

Keywords: Revealing the truth of people for who and what they truly are. Cutting people off. Throwing out things that don’t measure up. Forced retirement and redundancies. Payouts at the end of employment. Dismissals. Opting out for moral reasons. Being fired. Holes left where someone took up a lot of space.

The Caution: Stressful battle over who’s in charge. Blackmail. The threat of being thrown out. Something being revealed. Evicting people because they deceive, lie or mislead or just because they’re not liked. Bringing somebody down. Scapegoating others. Corruption and scandal that threaten collapse. Wanting to appear to be doing the right thing. Coverups. The burning of books. Perversion.

The Sabian Symbol of Mars is Cancer 28: AN INDIAN GIRL INTRODUCES HER COLLEGE BOYFRIEND TO HER ASSEMBLED TRIBE.

This Symbol implies that you may find yourself bridging the gap between situations or people that are inherently foreign to each other or previously unknown and unexplored. By bridging the worlds between people, you invite a richness into your life and the lives of others that may not have been possible if you’d stuck to your culture, your ethnicity, your own side of the tracks. It is your deeply felt understanding of both situations and the respect with which you are held in both situations that makes their mutual acceptance possible.

Keywords: Challenging or going against the status quo. Bringing in a new, more intellectual, element OR bringing in a more natural, earth-based attitude. Being the odd one out. Revealing strange, foreign situations or truths to others. Accepting people without judgment. Being welcoming and loving. Clans. Tribes.

The Caution: Deliberately upsetting the group. Unconventional or alternative behavior. Choosing friends or mates that could never fit in with one’s family, friends or social expectations. Using prejudice to keep people apart. Judging people by social standards. People misunderstanding each other. Hidden motives. Rebellion for the sake of being different. Ignoring tradition.

The Sabian Symbol of Jupiter is Gemini 18: TWO CHINESE MEN TALKING CHINESE IN A WESTERN CROWD.

This Symbol implies being able to find someone to communicate with, even when you’re in what might feel like alien territory. You may feel that you are often surrounded by people who don’t understand you or even suspect your ways of doing things or your motives. Finding someone of like mind or feeling will help you feel more comfortable and secure. Thinking and speaking in your native tongue or a language that reflects your thoughts and beliefs will bring greater ease and comfort. Sharing mutual thoughts can help transcend feelings of alienation and can lead to new understanding.

Keywords: Finding those of like mind. Leaving the “western crowd” behind. People having a specialized language that doesn’t communicate with the larger population. Exclusivity in communication. Interpreting or misinterpreting tones of voice. People being drawn to each other. “Chinese whispers”.

The Caution: Reluctance to adapt. Being with people who don’t share the same philosophies or understandings. No one to communicate with on the same level. Stories that get out of control. Depending on others to mirror one’s self. Being in alien territory. Schizophrenia. Hearing voices. Racism.

The Sabian Symbol of Saturn is Pisces 26: A NEW MOON REVEALS THAT IT’S TIME FOR PEOPLE TO GO AHEAD WITH THEIR DIFFERENT PROJECTS.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to see, or to accept, when it’s time for people to move on or to part from each other. They need to “Go Ahead With Their Different Projects” – their focus has changed and, quite possibly, parted ways. There’s a picture here of new beginnings. People will have their own response to situations – everyone will not react in the same way. At times in your life, you’ll have this “New Moon”, and decide to go your separate ways. It can be a good idea to direct some energy into your desires or projects at the time of the new moon. Light a candle and state your intentions with honesty and love.

Keywords: Diversifying. Applying talents in a different direction. People splitting up and splitting off. New opportunities and potentials. The beginning of a new age. Letting go of the old and outworn. Separations. Embracing one’s future without the need for others. Coming to a fork in the road. Divorces. New jobs, directions and destinies. The dawning of a new era.

The Caution: Not giving, or receiving emotional support. Feeling split off and alone, even when one is with others. The fear and loathing of possible separation. Overthrowing the old too quickly. Changing direction unexpectedly. The fear of old age. Relationships that fail again and again.

The Sabian Symbol for Uranus is Taurus 26: A SPANIARD SERENADING HIS SENORITA.

This Symbol speaks of being able to use one’s voice, words, songs, poetry and culture to sway the minds and hearts of others. One can sway others to achieve a desire result. There is no guarantee of total success, but you must act if you want any chance of succeeding and you need to put your heart and soul into the performance. The worst that could be damaged is a little ego, so think positively and play your role with enthusiasm and passion. Music can lift the spirits and words of poetry and love can be healing. Shared feelings, love or passion may result.

Keywords: Looking through pretence. Shared feelings, love or passion. Spontaneity. Welling expressions of romance. Being in tune with another. Soul mates. Chivalry. Reverting back to old methods of relating. Spinning tales to get a response. Knowing what to say and when. Music, singing, crooning, talking. Instruments. The use of the voice. Foreign voices. Guitars. Getting one’s message across.

The Caution: A ruse performed to achieve a goal by deception. Lies, deceit and propaganda. Not believing messages given by loved ones. Feeling like something is missing from a relationship. Superficial judgments of how things should look or be. Emotional manipulation. Selfish agendas. Things said merely to sway someone’s feelings. Empty promises or declarations. Pouring out the heart to deaf ears.

The Sabian Symbol for Neptune is Aries 1: A WOMAN HAS RISEN OUT OF THE OCEAN, A SEAL IS EMBRACING HER.

'The Mermaid' by Howard PyleThis degree is the beginning of the zodiac where the old gets left behind. New understanding and awareness is coming to light. Something new is emerging and it needs to be welcomed and nurtured. This is the beginning of a whole new impulse, creative and responsive. There’s an emergence of a whole new potentiality. Resist looking back to outgrown and unsatisfactory conditions in your life as they can pull you back to old and unrewarding ways of being. This is also about finding your voice and your feet. It’s about conscious individuation and the need to forge into new worlds with a new way of being.

Keywords: Cycles starting. Beginnings. Emergence into concrete manifestation. Embracing and honoring the shadow. Recognizing our animal side. Tropical islands or lands. Rocky shores. Seals. Oceans and water. Shedding skins. Transmutation. The Selkie myth. Grounding one’s energy. Stepping between the sea and the shore. Androgyny. Love and its embrace. Finding your feet and your voice. Mermaids.

The Caution: Using masculine power to overshadow emotions. Refusing to move on. Feeling held back by fears and old life patterns. Falling back into previous, unsatisfactory conditions. Dragging others backwards. Immobilizing fear of the unknown. Being just another “fish in the sea”.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon’s north node is Pisces 28: A FERTILE GARDEN UNDER THE FULL MOON.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to enjoy nature and to enjoy the fruits of your life, your country, your culture. There’s often a sense that one has all that’s needed, and emotions running high. The “Fertile Garden” signifies that you have things that you need at your disposal. This Symbol has a strong clairvoyant sense to it, with the ability to pick up on subtle energies and life forms in the environment. You’ll get a lot of opportunities to be able to enjoy the moment, but keep a sense of equilibrium, as soon the energy will be on the wane and you’ll have to get back to more practical, everyday tasks.

Keywords: Fullness and fertility. Peak of energy and experiences. Brilliantly active unconscious life. Cycles. Waiting for the right time to approach or handle a situation. The effect of the moon. Astrology and predictive practices. The time for harvesting the rewards of hard work. Nature sprites. Vegetables, herbs and nature’s bounty.

The Caution: Jealous protection of possessions. Not being able to make one’s mind up because of the number of possibilities. Missed opportunities. Difficulty shutting down the mind. Emotions that get out of hand.

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon’s south node is Virgo 28: A BALDHEADED MAN WHO HAS SEIZED POWER.

This may be the time to ‘Seize Power’ and to push forward with decisions that need to be realized and grounded now. Someone may need to take a stand and direct the course of action. It is most likely by force of will that the best solution will be found, but one must be careful to temper the situation, as strong displays of masculinity could get out of hand very quickly. Somebody may be pushing their agenda a little too hard, taking over and showing control issues. There are times when someone has to take charge—the question is in this situation; are they doing it wisely and kindly?

Keywords: Dominating other’s mental space. Male hormones running rampant. Issues to do with hair. Ponytails. The story of Samson and his hair. Taking positions of power. Uniforms. Demanding others follow one’s lead. Strutting one’s stuff. “Wearing the pants in the family”. The ability to direct and organize many people. Letting others express their opinions or have a say. Domination. The Government. The Military. Decisions based on logic. Taking action or control.

The Caution: Pushing too hard or fast. Ramming one’s convictions. Being unkind and bossy. Putting on a show because one’s in uniform. Power tripping. Being cruel and domineering. Lording it over others. Being opportunistic. Corruption. Misuse of power. Bullying. Big business calling the shots. Domestic violence. Taking charge because one can. Strict rules to live your life by. Taking over. Not listening to what others have to say.
