December’s full Moon falls on December 3 in the US, and, December 4 in Australia. This is a rather Neptunian chart as the full Moon is in an exact t-square with Neptune. Thus, this full Moon can awaken a lot of spirituality in us, a hankering to make more art, and, a heightened sensitivity to social pressures, all the way to feeling ripped-off and deluded. I think we’re going to be seeing all of these things highlighted in coming weeks. In amongst the stories of this full Moon we have the desire to be heard, to have our thoughts and feelings voiced, to be taken seriously, along with the need to not feel judged or examined or found to be less than.

As always with these kinds of aspects, it is interesting to look at the empty leg of the t-square, the degree forming a grand-cross to these planets, in other words. It’s interesting in light of many things going on around the feminine lately. It’s Virgo 12: A BRIDE WITH HER VEIL SNATCHED AWAY. This can imply many things, in amongst them having to ‘remove the veil’, revealing one’s self, being true to your self, stripping away falsehoods and misconceptions, etc. It also can speak of removing that veil so you can see into, participate in and effect healings on many levels, especially on a spiritual level. We may feel as if we’re being ‘examined’, perhaps falling short, not living up to expectations, wondering when we’ll be able to let go of the stories around our rights, beliefs, aspirations, etc, that are hindering us from getting what we want. Sometimes, with this assembling of the 12th degree of mutables, we find ourselves finding our voice, finding the impetus and breaking through the barriers, especially those ‘glass ceilings’ (in their various forms) that have been around far too long. BTW, Virgo 12 is the Sun degree of Elsie Wheeler, the fabulous spiritualist medium who gave birth to the Sabian Symbols.

In amongst it all, we need to be vigilant around giving rise to issues to do with feelings of self-sacrifice, emptiness, guilt, or any number of other emotions that can lead to self-delusion. Naturally, this is not inevitable, it depends on what is going on for you and around you. As always, we could see this writ more largely in the media; this configuration, especially with the planets involved, can bring up more allegations of sexual assault, bullying, etc, and, there will be judgments made left, right and center.

This configuration can also see us having a spiritual awakening. Interesting, insightful and creative realizations can come through, especially if we honour our sensibilities and give ourselves some time out.

This t-square can bring up issues of seeing others being examined for their motives or acts, and, we might find ourselves asking questions of others. Trials by media may be heightened; certainly, in Australia, we’re seeing celebrities and politicians being called out for the socially unacceptable. It’s a very interesting time where the feminine is saying ‘enough is enough’, and, there will no doubt be more falls from grace with Neptune in such a tight configuration with the full Moon. There can also be a feeling of sacrifice, loss, disillusionment or betrayal in amongst the emotions we’ll see flying around.

Further, with Mercury being stationary and turning retrograde conjunct Saturn on the Galactic Center, we may have the feeling of being able to (or, having to) get it together, to streamline our lives, to live up to our own expectations, to find our successes and let go of our failures, all of which can feel rather acute at the moment. A type of malaise can come about from this conjunction, almost as if we’re standing still and waiting for the next shoe to drop. Mercury, after Saturn has moved away from the GC, will continue to dance on this very powerful point in it’s direct motion in the second week of January.

Whether it’s now, at New Year’s, or, in the second week of January, this is a great time to be making decisions and affirmations. The good news in amongst the Mercury/Saturn conjunction being on the Galactic Center is the opportunity to really tune into the Law Of Attraction; to take charge of our lives, to get a clear sense of where to from here. Saturn, after all, can bring rewards for hard work, but, of course, it can bring about a sense of failure or disappointment if we’re not aligning with where we want to be in life.

With Mercury sitting stationary retrograde on the last degree of Sagittarius – Sagittarius 30: THE POPE BLESSING THE FAITHFUL, we might need to spend more time with loved ones, those who want more of our time and attention. Mercury here, though, can suggest the idea of blessing yourself. What about a bit more self-care in amongst all that needs to be done.

It’s interesting to note that Jupiter, in Scorpio, is on the ‘Cinderella degree’; THE EMBASSY BALL. Which side of the Cinderella story do you feel like you’re on? Is it an issue for you, or, do you know others who are feeling it? This can have us cleaning out the oven while others traipse off to the ‘ball’; the event, the relationship, the wearing of fine clothes and having the right handbag. Jupiter on this degree can be the best thing, bringing all kinds of rewards and lovely things, OR, it can have us feeling where the invitations are, where the fun is being had.

Having said the above, Jupiter and Neptune are in a delightful trine with each other, which can be very inspiring, insightful, intuitive and dream making and realizing. It’s a lovely trine and full of so much spiritual and creative potential, and, it can show us where we need to make changes in order to fulfill our desires. Jupiter is in a quincunx (150 degrees) aspect with the Moon, and, in a semi-sextile aspect with the Sun. This can bring up issues that we might have found somewhat difficult to grasp before now. I call these aspects ‘the itch that can be difficult to scratch’, however, I think that the trine to Neptune will bring sometimes long-awaited messages and answers our way.

The Mars/Uranus opposition that is happening most strongly in the few days before the full Moon may have us wanting to run off, to make big changes, we might feel a bit grumpy if we’re not letting off steam, especially if we’ve been brewing about relationship issues, or, exchanges with others that have been less than satisfactory. With this Mars/Uranus opposition, some decisions may be made, but, it might be a good idea to let things run for a while before actually taking action. That is unless things are unbearable. In that case, going for it, is key, as long as you have thought through things long enough.

Mars, in Libra, quickly moves on to a sextile to Mercury and Saturn in Sagittarius, so, we can find added impetus to work things out and make moves in the right direction.

Lilith is on a degree that I always take note of – Capricorn 3: THE HUMAN SOUL, IN IT’S EAGERNESS FOR NEW EXPERIENCES, SEEKS EMBODIMENT. This is a fabulous degree that speaks of the desire to ‘give birth to your true self’, to be creative, to be really ’embodied’. It’s interesting to note that this is the degree of the Sun most years right on Christmas when the Christian calendar is about celebrating the birth of Christ (‘seeks embodiment’).

Chiron, The Wounded Healer and The Stories We Tell Ourselves, is stationing on Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD. So much has already been revealed with those who have occupied positions of power falling from grace, but, there is, no doubt, more to come. A lot of the ‘Me Too’ movement has come, I believe, out of Pluto transiting mid-Capricorn, especially over 16 and 17, BOYS AND GIRLS IN GYMNASIUM SUITS and A YOUNG WOMAN SURREPTITIOUSLY BATHING IN THE NUDE (that last degree can often speak of revealing one’s self, opening up and not hiding away any longer).

The full Moon each month marks a time of heightened energies and events. It often marks the culmination of the energies released at the new Moon. Emotions can be supercharged as the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the zodiac and illumination is increased – it’s like we can see in the dark – and we can be hyper-aware as well as being hyper-awake. The effects of a full Moon can be major or minor, depending on how they interact with your own chart. Sometimes, realisations or events that are unleashed, or unlocked, can stretch their meaning months into the future. A lot can be learned at the time of the full Moon and whether it’s lunacy or illumination, or a combination of both, there’s magic unleashed with every full Moon.

The full Moon is on Gemini 12: A SLAVE-GIRL DEMANDS HER RIGHTS OF HER MISTRESS – the following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom –

Commentary: The ‘Black Slave-Girl’ who ‘Demands Her Rights of Her Mistress’ is someone who wants to be taken seriously. She is tired of being treated like a ‘Slave’ or dutiful underling. Like everyone else, she has ‘Rights’ and she ‘Demands’ her needs to be heard in order to improve her living conditions or situation. This can be difficult for the ‘Mistress’ because it is not uncommon for those in dominant positions to fail to understand that everyone is entitled to their own freedoms. The ‘Mistress’ may have assumed that everything was fine, as everything was okay at her end. Indeed, the ‘Slave-Girl’ may not have realized that her position was something that needed changing or that she needed liberation from, until just recently.

Oracle: If you are in a situation where you are spoken to badly, or treated with less respect than you deserve, make a stand – don’t just put up with it. It’s time to break the pattern and move ahead with self-respect and self-determination. This will encourage others to show respect and acknowledge that you should be taken seriously. You can take responsibility for your own life and how it is lived. Whether you are the ‘Slave-Girl’ or the ‘Mistress’, it is important now to allow some changes or adjustments to the usual order and the established distribution of power. Nothing stays the same in a world of such broad experiences. It is how we react to others that measures our humanity. Parents can fall into this ‘Slave’ trap and children sometimes need to show maturity by having sympathy for the dilemma their parents face in their own lives. State what you want clearly and simply and see how your situation improves. Keeping quiet can lead to illness and disgruntlement that simmers until it explodes. Whatever side of this situation you find yourself, it’s better to act now.

This Symbol shows that there’s a need to break away from old familiar ground and move out into unknown territory. Fear is often the greatest barrier to moving forward, but the familiar must be left behind for new possibilities. Taking opportunities to move on to new realms of being can lead to whole new experiences or indeed a whole new life. You have to be prepared to leave the old behind and to step out into new experiences with an open heart and an open mind. You could be starting from scratch with little to support you, but you could find depths of experience you never thought possible.

This Symbol speaks of the need to be able to show one’s talents, skills or unique abilities to others, whether it’s in a ‘Performance’, or through just being oneself. In the situation facing you, it is not always enough to know that you are highly skilled, or have others say how wonderful you are, the proof is in expressing those skills in the real world and creating something as a result. The ‘Performance’ should spring from a love of what one is doing, whether it is music, performing, speaking or some other form of expression. The Karmic Degree for the Sun is Sagittarius 11: IN THE LEFT SECTION OF AN ARCHAIC TEMPLE, A LAMP BURNS IN A CONTAINER SHAPED LIKE A HUMAN BODY

This Symbol implies seeing the body as being ones “Temple”; something to be honored and given respect, exercise and good nutrition. It also pictures linking the spirit and the body. Logic is not always involved in this equation – this mostly speaks of emotions, spirit and physicality. Blessings come from worshipping a higher power with people of like mind. This shows that people will dispense rewards upon those who are eager to receive from them. The “Fat Boy” has all he needs; he’s well fed, supposedly has lots of toys (tools, machines, hobbies) and he’s out in the yard helping out. However, sometimes we are paying more attention to appearances than to the finer details or life or those things that others can’t see. Many people are fooled by appearances, but there is usually an unsettling feeling that everything is not quite right. Have people been asking and asking for chores to be done? Enlist the help of those around you to get through everything, even those who normally just sit around and do nothing!

This shows the necessity or the ability to be strong, stand tall, be in charge and command respect. There are leadership issues that need to be embraced or addressed. Sometimes we need to rise to the occasion and take charge and this may lead to a struggle for control; you may have to remind those around you that you can be trusted to make decisions or lead others. Those above you may remind you of your lesser position in the scheme of things – are some jealous of your achievements and power? Know when to give way to the rights of others.

Venus is on Sagittarius 3: TWO MEN PLAYING CHESS

This Symbol shows the ability, or the necessity, to indulge in strategic games, arguments or competitions. There can be a strong sense of knowing how to maneuver situations in order to come out on top, with an eye to possible outcomes. There’s a need to be thoughtful and cautious, taking into account the wider picture. Impulsive acts with no forward planning can be risky. It probably pays to not show your weak side, but do everything with the possible objective of winning. It can be difficult to relax in competitive environments; one often feels that they can’t let their guard down because they might be taken advantage of. Take one step at a time and move with purpose and forethought.

The Quest Degree for Venus is Sagittarius 4: A LITTLE CHILD LEARNING TO WALK WITH THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF PARENTS

This Symbol implies the necessity of those older to be teachers, exemplars or guides to the younger or less experienced. The “Child” needs the “Encouragement” of “Parents” in order to feel supported or guided. At times, you are likely to fulfill the roles of child or parent to others. You may be moving into new phases of learning that, despite all your previous experience, are surprisingly difficult. Patience and step-by-step progress is needed, as is a guiding hand and a kind word or two. There may be those around you that don’t take your difficulties or responsibility seriously, but your struggles will pay off, particularly if you care and share.

Venus symbolizes: Relatedness, cooperation, what attracts you. The experience of sweetness, beauty or delight. Social interactions, love, friends, how you reach out to people. Feminine persona, relationship with mother and females. Money, possessions, sense of values.

Mars is on Libra 27: AN AIRPLANE SAILS, HIGH IN THE BRIGHT CLEAR SKY

This Symbol shows the ability to transcend strife and rise above issues. You can feel above situations and are being carried away and beyond the mundane towards something completely new. You can sail above issues and avoid more everyday, down-to-earth problems. Having a calm, objective and somewhat detached way of observing life reveals a lot to you. Don’t, however, get so far above things that you feel removed entirely from what’s really going on in reality. This won’t help when you need to employ practical solutions or have a need to really deal with life and its ramifications.
