[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text title=”Astrology of this Lunar Cycle”]March’s full Moon occurs on March 12 in the US and March 13 in Australia (Mar 12, 2017, 2:53 pm GMT). This is a very Chironic time, asking us to look for solutions to even long standing issues, ailments, problems and, with some decisions made at this time, it can point the way to a big healing – perhaps even bigger than one would have thought possible. Coming on the back of the lunar and solar eclipses of February, we can take those things that have been revealed to us and move forward with greater possibilities and positivity for the future. This full Moon also has incredibly illuminating and insightful energies, it is a very powerful full Moon.
The accent is still on Pisces, with Neptune, the Sun, Pallas Athene, Chiron and Mercury in Pisces, making this a somewhat dreamy, imaginative time with a focus on examining our mind sets, the stories that we tell ourselves (and the world), and, it is a good time to really tune into our dreams (as all full Moons are, but this one in particular).
We have Venus retrograde in Aries with Uranus and Mars also there. Often, with Aries, there’s a strong desire for forward momentum, and that is likely to be felt – however – Venus is retrograde and heading back into Pisces, giving us an even more Piscean flavour to current energies. Having said that, Venus is not there (back in Pisces) yet, it has only really just begun it’s retrograde trip back into the waters where a true rebirth is promised but possibly not completely actualised just yet. We may have things from the past that need sorting out first. Periods of Venus retrograde can have us wanting to bring resolution to events, memories, emotions, etc, especially those things that have hung around for some time. Lovers, friends, acquaintances, unfinished business, etc, may appear again, often unexpectedly, although, sometimes, we have been thinking about them and it may not be all that much of a surprise. The trick is often ‘where to from here’ and what needs to be jettisoned? You can read my take on this Venus retrograde transit in my article Biting The Apple And Releasing The Serpent.
A major aspect of this full Moon is the exact square between the Sun and Chiron and Mercury in Pisces and Saturn in Sagittarius. Saturn is smack on the Galactic Center (GC), a power point in the zodiac that maps a place of having a ‘connection to the Mind Of God’, bringing us the possibility of delving further into the Law Of Attraction, and, challenging us to let go of old, outworn, self-defeating and useless thoughts and ideas. We are being asked to really examine our thoughts; how we frame them, how our mind works, what stories we tell ourselves, etc. Some decisions will be made at or around the time of this full Moon, and, some will be made by us, but, some are very likely to be made by others. We may have to say goodbye to something or someone who has been a fixture in our life for a long time, but, the space that is left creates a place for a newer, more shiny and rewarding thing to come into our sphere. Affirmations made on this full Moon can therefore have a very strong and authentic ring to them, we are just challenged not to fall into negativity or denial or concentrating on what we might not want or not have.
Chiron, the Wounded Healer and The Stories That We Tell Ourselves, is conjunct the Sun and Mercury, opposite the Moon and square Saturn, so, this is a good time to let go of those self-defeating or negative, ever-repeating, limiting or useless mind-chattering and time-consuming energies. This audiobook is brilliant – especially now – The Magic Of Believing by Claude Bristol (published in 1948). Although a lot of us have heard a lot of this stuff before, I think that this is very worthy of a listen, along with anything by Florence Scovel Shinn – and, there are plenty of resources on Youtube for this bolstering reassurance that can be so valuable at any time, but especially now. Our thoughts really are things, but made doubly so with Saturn on the Galactic Center, a place where we can connect with God and the Law Of Manifestation (and Attraction).
Chiron brings up issues to do with our wounds; our deficiencies, our stories of loss, being different, not fitting in, feeling like a maverick in a strange world, etc. We can have physical, mental or emotional ‘wounds’ across the spectrum of what it means to be a human being, and, our wounds can consume us when the stories lead us away from our rightful path. Of course, our ‘wounds’ lead us to our path, and that is a good thing, however, we can perhaps more fully realize the stories that we attach to our wounds, and, resolutions and realizations can happen that lead us to drop the story. After all, a wound is nothing without a story attached to it. This full Moon is ripe with this Chironic energy that can help us to identify the stories that need to go, bringing greater peace and the ability to walk one’s path.
Another major aspect is the t-square between Jupiter at Libra 22, Uranus at Aries 23 and Pluto at Capricorn 20. This is a powerful line-up of energies, each pushing and pulling, and, it can be quite explosive and life changing, but there can also be a sense of caution and reluctance to move – conditions sometimes feeling so incredibly overwhelming. The push for change can be challenged by the more powerful and rather daunting limitations we may feel forced upon us by society, our place in it, and, the sometimes depressing political and social events going on in the world around us. The desire to be of service and to help others can be very strong, but, we may have the need to be looked after ourselves, and, we may feel a sense of frustration as we may be carrying heavy loads that weigh us down, and, self-care can be so very important, especially now. Listening to the promptings of your inner voice can work wonders, especially with Pluto on Capricorn 20: A Hidden Choir Singing During A Religious Service. This can bring strong positive intuitive and psychic messages that we do well to listen to.
It’s interesting to note that Lilith is squaring the Moon’s nodes at this full Moon. Lilith is on Sagittarius 3: A Game Of Chess. The message from Lilith appears to be that strategies are important now; seeing what we’re doing, or planning to do, three moves ahead and not rushing into situations that could lead to arguments. Know when to run into the circus arena and when not (or where not), a lesson lit large by this moon’s symbol, Virgo 23: A LION-TAMER RUSHES FEARLESSLY INTO THE CIRCUS ARENA. Please consider making a donation so I can keep it going!
I really do need your help in this. I love Walter Russell’s take on this: “giving is for re-giving” – we give and we receive. A donation, large or small, will really help and I will appreciate it. I’ve had a few shocks to the system lately, and, I could use the encouragement.
I’m reminded of Florence Scovel Shinn’s affirmation: I have a magical work in a magical way, I give magical service for magical pay.

What do you want to be doing? Where do you want to be? Have you prepared the ground for all that you want? Is there a little more ‘training’ or preparation that needs to happen before you ‘rush into the ring’?
Commentary: ‘A Lion-Tamer’ is seen. He ‘Rushes Fearlessly into the Circus Arena’. The ‘Lion-Tamer’ needs to really know what he’s doing; if not, he could be putting his life on the line. Not only does he have to be completely professional; he also has to be sure of his skill and display a complete lack of fear. Weakness of any description can have disastrous consequences.
Oracle: With this degree, there’s a need for self-discipline and mastery. Being prepared to take on things that are “unknown” or risky, may lead to excitement, but how much is being risked in order to accept the challenge? One has to be cautious with every move, as there’s the need to anticipate every type of outcome or eventuality. In order to survive or “win” in this situation, there’s a need to bite the bullet and to put fears behind you. It is not that you need to extinguish powerful emotions and energies, but by skillfully manipulating things, the outcome will see you being the one in charge. As long as you’re aware of all the possible consequences, things should turn out okay. However, with this Symbol, there is a question as to what degree the risks are real and to what degree they are imagined. It is common for the lions to be well fed by the ‘Lion-Tamer’ before he ventures into the arena, reducing any real risk of danger. The audience, oblivious of the methods the ‘Lion-Tamer’ utilizes or undertakes, are gripped by their own fears or the way they believe they would act if they were in his place Hence, this Symbol can reflect that you are allowing others to think you are braver, and taking more risks than you really are. This can give you an advantage over others for a while, but the “audience” can easily become disillusioned if the truth becomes known. Whatever, how prepared are you for what may happen? Once you’re out there, in the ‘Circus Arena’, you’re committed to it, with no easy turning back.
Keywords: Having faith and courage in your abilities. Sublimating animal instincts. Control. Fearlessness. Professionalism. Extremism. Adrenaline rushes. Dangerous spectacles. Training and conditioned responses. Restrained passion. Coordination and skill. Superheroes. Holding the whip.
The Caution: Needing to be in control. Believing that things are dependent on your direction. Showing off and boasting. Plunging into situations, physically or emotionally, that are inherently dangerous without regard for the consequences. Overplaying one’s abilities. Dominant attitudes. Taking on anything and anyone.
The Karmic Degree for the full Moon is Virgo 22: A ROYAL COAT OF ARMS ENRICHED WITH PRECIOUS STONES – we are reminded of our ‘heritage’, whether it’s more of a spiritual heritage than a family one. No matter what our origins, we can have a sense of ‘royalty’ within our souls.
This Symbol implies is a strong connection to heritage and family lines. This can give rise to feelings of pride and honor as one accepts that a sense of nobility is one’s birth right. Even if there’s no actual nobility in your bloodline, there can be a sense of nobility about your character and bearing. There are things to stand up for and represent, regardless of where you come from and who your ancestors and your family are. Believing in yourself and your abilities will give you strength and stability and people will believe in your beauty, talent or worth, regardless of your background or where you’re from.

Being “in the club”. Elite school snobbery. Bastardizing others. Feeling above everyone because of lineage.
The Quest Degree for the full Moon is Virgo 24: MARY AND HER WHITE LAMB – this is a very interesting Symbol, and one that can bring up issues to do with rightful relationships. Often, issues to do with codependence can emerge, and, we might have to face issues around where we are may be too attached, too naive possibly, too ready to put our own needs aside in order to concentrate on what we imagine or perceive others might need. ‘Wolves in sheep’s clothing’ and narcissists can be attracted to those with big hearts who are not good with boundaries.
This Symbol can show purity of motive and pure and wonderful relationships and friendships. However, it can also point to dependence or codependence where people can’t stand to be separate. Hence, relationships may need to be assessed to see how healthy they actually are. The need for constant reassurance that everything is OK can be wearing and put a strain on those involved. Keeping a sense of innocence and purity will lift you up and out of any problems. Be loving and be there for others, but don’t let things get out of hand as you could find yourself sewn at the hip with another and not able to get any free time for yourself.
Keywords: Simple childlike innocence or pure escapism. Naivety. The Mary and Jesus story. Dependence. Kindness. Friendship. Bonds between pets and owners. The Sun is on Pisces 23: A ‘MATERIALIZING MEDIUM’ GIVING A SÉANCE – this is quite an amazing degree for seeing things coming to light. Things you’ve thought about, imagined, dreamed of, can become manifest (materialized), and we might have some extraordinary breakthroughs in understanding and picking up on what’s going on. Listen to your intuition.
Be careful of your thoughts; they may become words at any moment. Lara Gassen
The strongest of all psychic forces in the world is unsatisfied desire.John Cowper Powys
This shows the ability, or the need, to pick up subtle energies and psychic clues in the environment. The “Materializing Medium” can receive radiations, frequencies or vibrations that cannot easily be sensed by most people. You may be experiencing a surprising sensitivity and awareness to spiritual forces and energies. This can cause confusion, other times enlightenment. Sit with any new impressions until you understand their authenticity or depth. Sometimes there is a need to free ‘stuck’ or earthbound entities. This can show someone who can “Materialize” things; make things happen just by thinking about or concentrating on them.
Keywords: Spiritual channeling. A need to free up “stuck” or earthbound entities. Efforts to materialize things. Coming straight out with things. Dreams and dreaming. Giving voice to spirit. Mercury is on Pisces 28: A FERTILE GARDEN UNDER THE FULL MOON -this is a beautiful degree that can ring a very strong sense of illumination to issues, and a strong appreciation for all that one has in life. This degree is very special to me with my work with the Sabian Symbols, I have had very meaningful messages around my work and this degree. It’s totally fascinating, illuminating, and, it ca be very rewarding, especially if we have the energy to really ‘survey’ our world, as insightful and revealing messages can arrive, especially when we’re not expecting them.
This shows enjoying nature and the fruits of your life, your country, your culture. There’s often a sense that one has all that’s needed, and emotions can be running high. The “Fertile Garden” signifies that you have things that you need at your disposal. This Symbol has a strong clairvoyant sense to it, with the ability to pick up on subtle energies and life forms in the environment. You’ll get a lot of opportunities to enjoy the moment, but keep a sense of equilibrium, as soon the energy will be on the wane and you’ll have to get back to more practical, everyday tasks.

Take your cue from the wild geese. When they fly in formation, they take turns in leading the way; when one gets tired or sick, another takes the lead. Spread your wings and seek freedom, taking note of ‘seasonal’ variations around you. Just remember to be mindful of your responsibilities to both yourself and others. Be a part of the group by contributing and promoting the joys of togetherness while keeping a sense of independence. Geese are known for forming lifelong partnerships, so marriage or partnership may indeed be a consideration in this situation.
Keywords: Aquarian ideals of brotherhood. Attunement to planetary rhythms. Spirit liberated from matter. Wanting to take off by one’s self, but not being able to. Focused group activity and support. Group mentality, action and agreement. Intuition and telepathy. Choreography. Camaraderie. “Honking” to egg each other on. Flying in the slipstream. Responses to seasonal changes. The Quest Degree for Venus retrograde is Aries 13: A BOMB WHICH FAILED TO EXPLODE IS NOW SAFELY HIDDEN FROM DISCOVERY
This Symbol shows that explosive elements need discharging. Pressure cooker energy needs to be released, but it often needs to be done slowly and carefully. By keeping a sense of control, one can handle wild situations, elements or people without things getting out of hand. Be an example to others of how calmness and quiet can take the charge out of things. Take whatever opportunities you can to defuse elements as an explosion often damages more than is expected. You may have to hide something away so things don’t get crazy, but with some careful thought, all should be well.
Keywords: Pressure valves. Getting away with something. Tantrums and frustration. Tempers that simmer. Explosive behavior. Bombs, explosions. Sudden and forceful events. Intelligence organizations, CIA, FBI, ASIO, etc. Valuable lessons of self-restraint. Relief from problems. Discharging nervous energy. Security checks. Last minute escapes. I’d rather be a lightning rod than a seismograph. Ken Kesey
This Symbol implies storms, electrical flashes and brilliance. Storms unleash all kinds of energy; there is tension and a breaking point imminent, but the cleansing deluge is held back while the power of the situation seems to take control. You may feel like you have no influence over what is being unleashed. If you can keep a cool head, the energy will dissipate and you will regain control. Brilliant flashes of insight and intuition can come with this energy and things can happen suddenly and sometimes unpredictably.

This Symbol shows a giving nature, someone who usually goes out of their way to lend a hand to others, or provide for the needs of people or animals, especially for those who find it hard to help themselves. Simple unconditional gestures of giving, love and joy that are done for others can revitalize situations beyond expectations. Jupiter symbolizes: The big picture, expansion, exploration, aspirations, religious and philosophical ideals, issues to do with traveling, foreign lands, people and traditions, culture, education, generosity, luck, abundance, support, optimism. Insight through knowledge and wisdom.
Saturn is on Sagittarius 28: A SPLENDIDLY BUILT BRIDGE, A HERITAGE OF UNKNOWN AGES, STILL SPANS THE BEAUTIFUL AND WILDLY PRIMITIVE STREAM – Saturn is smack on the Galactic Center for months as it goes retrograde on this degree. What blocks do you have that are perhaps hindering you from ‘being the bridge’ or ‘crossing over the bridge’ to those things that you want in life?
The person with a fixed goal, a clear picture of his desire, or an ideal always before him, causes it, through repetition, to be buried deeply in his subconscious mind and is thus enabled, thanks to its generative and sustaining power, to realize his goal in a minimum of time and with a minimum of physical effort. Just pursue the thought unceasingly. Step by step you will achieve realization, for all your faculties and powers become directed to that end. Claude Bristol
This Symbol speaks of building bridges between places, people and events in order to bring them together and to add cohesion to society. The “Bridge” implies strength, dependability and passage to other places. The bridge was built many years ago and it presents the ability to be able to reach back into time, to reflect on what was important then and what’s important now. Often these values are one and the same. Traditional ways of approaching things can lead to the best solutions. There is a linking of people, places and things with clarity. Note: the Galactic Center is on this degree. We need to act as bridges in order to truly create!
Keywords: Enduring elements from past traditions providing links with the modern day. Reverence for things of worth that stand as reminders of yesterday. Linking people, places and things with clarity. Connections with the “old country”, or past lives. Beautiful and inspiring landscapes. Getting in touch with people. Ever repeating journeys. Passages across the water. Permanence.
The Caution: Sticking with old and possibly outworn methods. No new ideas to resolve situations. Continually traveling the “trued and true” path without deviating.
Saturn symbolizes: Authority, rules, discipline and obligation The heavy stuff. What we fear, loss, karma, aging, the establishment, orthodoxy, tradition, status, the concept of time, walls, boundaries, limits, older people, restrictions, patience, conquering difficulties.
Uranus is on Aries 23: A WOMAN IN PASTEL COLORS CARRYING A HEAVY AND VALUABLE BUT VEILED LOAD
This Symbol shows issues of going to a great deal of effort to conceal from others things that are very important. This could be heavy responsibilities that have been placed on you. You may feel that you have succeeded in shouldering these burdens without others knowing, but in fact it may be apparent to others in the way the burden of your secret is affecting your behavior. It may be necessary to share the load. Are you truly participating in life? Do you always put on a happy face regardless of what’s going on? Wearing black versus pastel colors.
Keywords: Privacy. Quiet determination to get on with the job. Mild manners. Carrying more than one’s share, gratefully or grudgingly. Shouldering problems. Bad backs. Victim status – poor me! Secret pregnancies. Doing overtime. Heavy loads. Smiling against the odds. Pastel colors. Codes of silence.
The Caution: Trying to cover up distrust and greed. Keeping ones thoughts and emotions locked in can create dis-ease. Feeling unnoticed or unworthy or weak. Bad backs
Uranus symbolizes: The unexpected, things that are individual or ‘different’. Charged, energetic dynamics, electricity, light, lightning bolts, sudden changes, those who live on the fringe of society. Sudden turns and twists of fate. Rebellion, surprises, liberation, freedom.
Neptune is on Pisces 13: A SWORD, USED IN MANY BATTLES, IS NOW IN A MUSEUM
This shows knowing when to stop battling in life, when to lay down one’s “Sword” and take up a higher position that reflects a more intelligent or spiritual way of being in the world. Sometimes, when reminded of the battles of the past, we are influenced towards actions that ensure peace. We are uplifted by the symbolic memory of past deeds of valor, although stings of defeat may be part of the story. You may be faced with the choice of fighting or reasoning which is confused by your lack of training or experience in the ways of “Battle”. Don’t go down with the ship. It helps to lay down one’s ‘sword’ – not in order to surrender, but to stop the ‘warring’
Keywords: Willpower. Martial arts. Putting aside thoughts of vengeance and revenge. Hanging up or laying down one’s ‘Sword’. Trophies of conquest that remind us of the past. History. Aging and maturing. Retirement. Remnants of battles. Souvenirs of the past. “Words as swords”. The Spear of Destiny. The Sword Excalibur. Disarming weapons. The search for truth and justice. Suits of armor. Peace at last. Sexual impotence.
The Caution: A lack of sensitivity. A pretense of one’s abilities. Giving up and “falling on one’s sword” from defeat. Grudges. Wanting to go into ‘Battle’ at the slightest excuse. Selfish agendas. This Symbol shows singing, playing or enjoying music, and, also, to be able to pick up on things that others don’t see or hear. The “Hidden Choir” brings songs, or sounds, with messages of salvation and faith. The fact that they are hidden shows something coming out of the background, something subtle, something others may miss. It can be important to be receptive to your feminine, intuitive side, as there are messages to be heard. Realize that you are not alone; there are other people who feel the same things. Chiron is on Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD – sometimes, people just don’t belong in our sphere anymore. Those who abuse our trust may find someone turning against them….
This shows seeing through those who hold important positions yet abuse trust or those who make great claims but don’t live up to them. At this time, you’re likely to find yourself leaving others behind, kicking them out, or experiencing falls from grace. Periodically, there is a need to examine moral and spiritual sincerity. It is easy to allow those who don’t really belong to stay because of familiarity or habit. We can lose sight of the ideal through our rationalizing intellect, ego and emotive passion. There is a need to cleanse and purify your life, leading to better spiritual values. What side of the “Purging” are you on? Are you the one with the ‘right motives’? Who’s in charge?

Prejudice of any kind, whether religious or race based, economic or class systems, is an illusion based on social perception and excludes people that could add to our lives. This can show communications and linkages between separate worlds leading to increased pleasure, OR, frustration, confusion or psychic indigestion and the need for a holiday. It often marks the culmination of the energies released at the new Moon. Emotions can be supercharged as the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the zodiac and illumination is increased – it’s like we can see in the dark – and we can be hyper-aware as well as being hyper-awake. The effects of a full Moon can be major or minor, depending on how they interact with your own chart. Sometimes, realisations or events that are unleashed, or unlocked, can stretch their meaning months into the future. A lot can be learned at the time of the full Moon and whether it’s lunacy or illumination, or a combination of both, there’s magic unleashed with every full Moon.
